  1. Very good! I agree. Why would I want to go into a huge Wally World, or mall? My time is important to me. You go in Walmart, and they have 50 check out isles with 5 of them open. I would think, on average, shopping at a mall or big box store would take triple the time. When I drive through towns for the first time, I like the "old" parts of towns. With the streetside windows, and homey feeling. Cartersville for instance. Old town Cartersville is much more pleasurable than Highway 41 with all the big shopping places. Same with Hiram. Add to all of this the great anxiety it causes
  2. It seems that way to me. Like I said, I have only had to deal with them once...but after reading all these posts, I feel better about dealing with them all in the future. Out of everyone on this site, there are a couple people (other than the ones here for another motive) that really are just not satisifed. Of course, any business owner would like a 100 percent rating, but that cant always happen. Especially during emergency situations, when NOTHING seems fast enough, and NOTHING seems good enough when someone we love is hurting. In a situation like this, I would bet MY life on the experienc

    BEWARE

You are so smart! Great idea! I saw it before you edited it. Still like it.
  4. I guess we're going to start Friday night and end Monday morning, just to please everyone!
  5. I want to go just to get some apples, not really interested in the festival. I'm down to my last jar of homemade applesauce. Plus, tis the season for pie, crisp, etc!!
  6. So, I made them from a recipe online. It called for flour, baking powder, oil, salt, and milk. Everyone liked them, excpet they still werent like Moms! Hers are always really fluffy and good. Maybe that's what the big lid does for it?? So, I did accomplish my goal, and make my son happy...... I will try the Bisquick one next time.
  7. Thanks! I like the biscuit-like ones. I found a recipe online for both kinds, so hopefully I got it right!
  8. That is impressive! It reminds me of my brother in laws pork loin/sausage roll. He cuts the pork loin, then rolls it with sausage, black pepper bacon, and other things. Its so good...he wont give me the recipe.
  9. Same here, bacon HAS to be crispy! I have a big mouth, but I'm not sure I could fit it around that bacon sandwich though!
  10. Okay, so my son loves dumplings, and I have only been successful in making them once or twice. I have a beef stew going in the crock pot. Has anyone ever made dumplings on the stew, in a crockpot? My mom is the professional, and she says hers work out the best in an electric wok/skillet with a large raised lid. She had a square electric pan, with a lid that sits up about 4 inches from the top, and her dumplings always came out the best. Before I attempt to do it, and end up with nasty doughballs floating in my stew, does anyone have any tips?
  11. Some of these look really gross! I dotn really get the deep fried reeses wrapped in bacon. But that Reese Brownie Fatty Surprise looks goooood!!
  12. noahsdad, you asked why we are using tax dollars to pay private companies. I responded to that. So, you wanted to be the private company that gets paid from our tax dollars, and now you are bashing it?? How absurd. Taking bids for projects is normally a good thing, but with my life on the line..I would choose to keep a service that I know does well. I dont want to save $1 or $100 of my tax money if it means ONE life may be lost because the service is worse. Anyone can bid lower, but when you are talking HUMAN LIVES, I dont want to choose someone because they are cheaper. I dont want
  13. OMG! I used to sleep with the tv on when I was a kid, and I woke up to a very scary scene in this movie!! It scared the daylights out of me, and I have never watched it since!
  14. One other point to make about the costs. Every transportation company has a "minimum" charge, for starting up their vehicles to move something. So, the $650 to go across the street, is probably the same as going 3 miles. After a certain distance, the base rate will be added to depending on the distance traveled. There is nothing wrong with having a base rate and if you are so close to the hospital and didnt need a ride, by all means, dont use the service. The transportation company I work for charges a base rate whether it goes 1 mile down the road, or 40 miles across town. You cannot
  15. No kidding! And as a teacher, you must now how hard it is to get tissues! I'm glad everything has gone well for her.
  16. I hope all works well for you both. I agree, you cannot put a dollar amount on quality of life. It sounds he has lost a lot. Once you retain an attorney, he/she will gather all the documents needed. They will get the accident report and medical records, they will speak to the insurance company, they will do what needs to be done. You need to worry about him, and nothing else. Let someone else have some of the stress, and you work on his stability. Yes, definately start calling attorneys now.
  17. You are kidding about this, right? Do you think ALL your tax dollars should go to government owned companies? So, now the government cannot hire an outside contractor to do work? Get ready to pay more taxes so the government can collect money, and pay it all to themselves. BTW: I dont believe it was Mr. Clark that started this post, crying that he has no money. Maybe you should read the first post again?
  18. They are! When the kids see them first they will whisper (loudly) "DEER!!!!"
  19. Mmmmm...just in time for supper!! LOL, just kidding. We have some that show up across the street in the neighbors yard, and its always exciting to see them.
  20. Good points. The only thing that pops out at me, is that just because someone is not in a crosswalk, doesnt mean I can run them down. OP-how did he get hit? Did he walk out from a blind spot, or was he in open view where the driver could have stopped?
  21. I would start with an attorney. I'm not normally a sue-happy person, but this seems like a pretty complex case. The insurance company probably will not offer to pay what his ongoing costs are actually going to be. If it was an at-fault accident, and the injuries were all healed up so to speak, you would have a number. You would be able to say "The bills are this much, I need to be reimbursed for them". But, you cannot say that because it seems the care will be ongoing. The attorney is free, and will be honest with you. The attorneys paycheck comes from yours, and he has nothing to gain
  22. If the driver was at fault, he would want to hire an attorney. Their insurance company should pay all his current bills, and the amount that is projected to cost him. He needs to talk to an attorney....they dont charge anything until it gets settled. If the attorney doesnt think he is owed any money, they wont take the case. Not sure how it works if he is at fault. But, people on bicycles normally have the right of way, and they are not in a crosswalk. Just because they havnt charged the driver with a crime, doesnt necessarily mean that the insurance wont pay.
  23. I clipped your post, but the entire thing was great! If I was swindling money, I probably WOULDNT be having financial difficulties! I dont know anything about Mr. Clark, but by the posts I have read (and the good service I got one day), it seems IF he is having financial difficulty, it very well could be because he is a kindhearted man, that still helps people even if it hurts him.
  24. It sounds like a comment that is NOT based on facts. I have had a payroll problem with my check, just because of a simple error in transferring of funds. Sometimes things happen, and the OP really should have some solid facts, before throwing something like this out there for all of Paulding County to read. The OP could also be a disgruntled employee, or someone upset for any other reason.
