  1. treasure: I didnt see in the article if they were drawing much attention to the speed limit. Is it in fact only reduced to 45? Someone in another post told me 35. Heck, where I moved here from, 45 is the normal speed limit on most roads. The only place it is higher is on the 4 lane which is 55, and 65 on the interstate. I do think that 45 is too fast for being "reduced". Making it lower than 45 might make a bigger difference than sidewalks or crosswalks. It may give drivers more reaction time, if a child was to step out. While it would be nice to have them, a child can still step off a sid
  2. Nothing so far. The kids have gone camping for the weekend, so we are on vacation!
  3. Why would it be 45 outside of a school that kids walk to school, and 35 at an elementary school that has no pedestrians? I do think this is wrong, but still nothing to do with the accident from what I heard it wasnt during a reduced speed time. Not 100% positive though.
  4. I smoke cigarettes, not cigars. What is there to purchase to justify my loitering??
  5. My brother in law lives in Port St Lucie, FL and he has to go to the town and pay for a "yard sale permit" and I'm pretty sure he is only allowed to put up a certain number of signs. They also have to be taken down after. So, they will find a way to make their money off it.
  6. I guess that stunt didnt really pay off did it? Stupid people.
  7. Sounds like a good place to unwind after work. It would be nice to just be able to sit, and not have anyone around that needs something from me "RIGHT NOW"!!
  8. Have fun, and keep an eye on my baby if you can!!!
  9. But, can you imagine living each day wondering where your child is? I dont think there is another feeling that would be worse than this. I hope his parents are right.
  10. I agree and thank you for bringing up school safety. I just think that there should be other things brought up as well. For instance, dont stop on a busy highway to talk to someone, child or adult. Instead, pull to a safe area. Highway 61 is not a parking lot, or a designated pick up or drop off point for the schools. And also to educate your children to always think first before stepping into a roadway. My children do things without thinking and I constantly have to remind them to think first, then act or react. In my opinion, the media should do more to alert parents of ALL the thing
  11. This is very sad. I cannot imagine the horror and pain if either of my sons just went missing....not to mention if I thought the person responsible for it was walking free. There would be nothing that could fill the black hole in my heart left by this tragedy.
  12. Is there a self help group? I may want to join, too!
  13. I think I would die. Well, at least you made yourself known to them....nobody can say you are too shy!!!
  14. Well, thats just my point. The advocates for this are the ones that want LESS government control. I'm a little confused. Once you start these policies they never end. They will pick our lifestyles apart until we are a communist country. Now that the government has their hand in the healthcare, I want to slap it when it gets too close. I worry when they are checking our DNA upon birth to let us know our health costs, and if we are even worth it, and at what cost. And also charging more if there is a family history of health problems. How many people can say that the past 3 generations
  15. Every single year that I've had insurance, the costs have risen. Yep, the past 13 years. I agree there are certain people that dont take care of themselves, but how are you going to tell who they are? I was 20 pounds OVER the recommended weight for my height, and I looked like a skeleton. How are you going to punish/charge for the skinny girl that eats nothing but sweets all day? Or the skinny man that eats 80% red meat in his diet? And there are A LOT of these people. Should the governemnt start doling out food, or make us submit our grocery receipts? I'm a firm believer in vitam
  16. When you wash your eyes, wipe from the inside corner to the outside. I dont know why, but thats what I always heard. There are two types of pink eye, viral and bacterial. One will go away on its own, and one you will need antibiotics. My sister just had it, and was hoping it would go away...and it got MUCH worse. I would go see a doctor, or maybe to the Walgreens wellness center...it may be cheaper.
  17. I bet thats it. Plus, they probably dont think that we would want to share all the goodies they give us while we are waiting. Ice cold drinks, snacks, ect.
  18. I know! I was told after the mamm that I needed an ultrasound. Then waited FOREVER to find out that everything was fine.
  19. No more than it would be WalMarts problem if the child was walking there. Basically what I was saying is that instead of parents taking the responsibility after a tragedy, they are looking to blame elsewhere.
  20. I had to have one, but didnt have to wear my gown in the waiting area. However, I got my results in the waiting area/hallway.
  21. I dont think I would allow my children to walk to school on a busy highway even if there were crosswalks and sidewalks at age 12. High school age is a different story. At 12 years old, they are not always thinking. It only takes one split second for them to have a lapse in judgement and get injured. I'm sure for every 100 success stories of children walking to school, there is a horror story. I'm the type that wont take that 1% chance. I would be driving them to school, that way I would never have to be in a position to lay blame on the school to cover up my lack of parenting.
  22. I'm sure she doesnt like someone questioning her position on this. Unfortunatly, she was the one doing the story. She should have felt it in her heart to tell parents to make their children be aware, and watch what is going on around them. I had one child push another child in front of my car last year. I was far enough away that I could stop, but what if I wasnt? It is sad, and I say it with as much respect as possible...but...there is no crosswalk or sidewalk that will prevent a child from stepping into traffic, or pushing another child into traffic. I do agree that some safety measu
  23. I would think they would have televised what they did, and push for safety...but they also should have pushed toward children being aware of their surroundings. Anything they could add to help someone would have been good, and to purposely leave parts of it out is wrong. If the agenda was 100% keeping children safe, they would have covered ALL the info.
  24. I think you need to get one of those digital converters. It will be local channels only. Someone said that sometimes rabbit ears will work, but I dont know.
  25. I'm going to be a race fan..at Talladega! Oh, and when that is over, I will miraculously change into a tired grump at about 7pm when I get home.
