  1. We have had a lot more rain today than we did from the storm, which was zero. We've had at least four showers today. It's raining now in fact.
  2. Those of us in the panhandle think of Tampa as being "south Florida". But then again, lot of people in Georgia think anything in Florida affects everything in Florida. And they think if you're in Florida, where I am (Pensacola) that you're close to Orlando. I'm not. My sister lives in Marietta, my brother in Sanford, FL (outside of Orlando). She is actually closer to our brother than I am but I live in the same state he does. She's not much closer, maybe 10 miles, but this fact took her by surprise.
  3. I know what you mean. About a year after we moved here we had "the flood". Reminded me of the flood in 2009 in Austell. Those were awful storms, almost tropical in nature but without any formation to them.
  4. My nephew lives in Longwood and my brother in Sanford. My nephew said they had worse this past spring in a normal thunderstorm. I would hate to see what the Cedar Key and Apalachicola areas look like. APD, glad you're OK!
  5. 2005 saw Hurricane Katrina take off part of Charlie and Phyllis Watts' building in downtown Dallas. I was in the building at the time. But not for long. LOL 2009 saw Hurricane Dennis. That caused flooding in Austell and a lot of damage in this area (Pensacola). Apparently that is when the man who owned this house before us took down all the trees. Some of which were massive oaks from what the neighbors tell us. Prayers for everyone in the path of this hurricane. There but for the grace of God, go I.
  6. I keep thinking that would have been us getting all that rain if the storm had gone more to the west. And we all know the folks in Louisiana don't need more so they are in the clear. From this one, at least.
  7. Panama City Beach http://www.visitpanamacitybeach.com/webcam/ Navarre Beach http://www.navarrebeachlife.com/live-hd-1080-zoom-cam/?p=zoom Tampa http://www.porttampawebcam.com/
  8. We have had a couple of tropical storms since that though. I think our last major tropical storm was in 2009. It hit about 60 miles to our east. In 2013 there was one baring down on us. It fizzled out about 150 miles before it made landfall. It was heading for Mobile. She's a little more to the east than I thought she was.
  9. I think she is around Mexico Beach. That's just on the fringe. Hope she's OK. You're right where it is! Hope rain is all you get. Glad you're OK. I saw news footage from Clearwater and they were having flooding yesterday.
  10. Apollo Beach Dad, are you OK down there? Anyone else who lives on the gulf coast of Florida? Other than me. I live in the high and dry panhandle and being glad I don't live over toward Destin.
  11. Prayers for Tess and her family on their loss. I never met Mr Hardy but everyone I know who ever had met him spoke highly of him.
  12. 1. Greed 2. Walmart Knows How to Run a Business, they get us to subsidize them. 3. Grocery Store Retail Rip-offs I am seeing a trend here.
  13. You probably will. Keep it in your neck of the woods, please.
  14. I've been prepared for a hurricane for three years. One would actually give me a good opportunity to empty my cabinets a bit. Only thing we really need to check is the propane tank. That runs the generator. And if it goes toward Tallahassee more than the Pensacola/Mobile area, we will be on the western side. Shouldn't be as bad.
  15. Not to mention rain, even if it never turns into a hurricane. Or really even if it never turns into a tropical storm. Think about the flooding they had in Louisiana the past couple of weeks.
  16. My daughter and I live in the Florida panhandle. She lives just a couple of miles from the beach while I live 30 miles inland. My brother and nephew outside of Orlando. Looks like some or all of us may be dealing with this next week.
  17. Seems like just yesterday I stood at my office window and watched his funeral procession go by. RIP Josh. Thank you for your service to our country.
  18. How old is she? She sounds like she's 8. I'm sure she is older than that though.
  19. I know my mom had a copy of it and I'm thinking she got it from the funeral home. Thanks for the ME's phone number, too! That will be my next call if the funeral home doesn't have it. Lucky for me, they know me at the funeral home.
  20. I would really like to obtain a copy of my dad's autopsy report and perhaps a copy of his death certificate. How would I go about getting them? He died in Cobb County in 1974.
  21. I absolutely, positively would NOT allow my son to guilt me into going. The 1 year old isn't going to know/remember. Send a card, open a savings account for the grandchild and not be manipulated.
  22. I'm sure it's something the nearby property owners fought against.
  23. Incentive for me to work? Employing others so that they may also support their families as we have done. Producing a quality product or service with a reasonable but not exorbitant profit. Feeling accomplished. Being able to sleep at night with a clear conscience. Deriving pleasure out of even the toughest job. Learning new skills and helping others learn them as well. And because of these incentives I was more than happy to work 18 hour days, 7 days a week, sometimes combining a full time job, a part time job and a household to run. Working on a broken foot because there was w
  24. I see people all the time whose only incentive for being alive is getting high. They do work for that.
