Shooting of Jenna Wall by her MIL raises questions/issues
Mama Carol replied to gpatt0n's topic in RECENT TOPICS
I'd have to have some holy water, a wooden stake, some garlic, a silver bullet and a crucifix. Oh yeah, a bucket of water, too. -

Doesn't the county, perhaps along with Cobb and Douglas, provide mental health services? -

A gun didn't kill her. A bullet didn't kill her. Her mother in law did. A firearm was her weapon of choice. I used to know a man whose sister and nephew were brutally murdered. No firearm was used. The killer's weapon of choice was a pipe and his bare hands. If a person is intent on killing another, they will use any manner of weapon, be it a car, a firearm, their bare hands and yes, even a box cutter and an airplane. And let's not forget the number of people who die of drug overdoses, the vast majority of which are prescription pain killers. If someone wants to inflict ha -

Geez, folks, it's mating season! What do you expect? -
I believed from the minute I heard of the shooting that it was a revenge killing. The "two men kissing" he saw more than likely was his gay, Latin lover and someone else. He knew where the club was, more than 100 miles from where he lived, because he'd been there. With his lover. Was he part of ISIS? Probably so. But I suspect he knew that he could kill his lover and pledge loyalty to ISIS all in one swoop. And nobody would be the wiser about his sexual orientation.

Our cukes are pretty much done. Been getting a few jalapenos but they were planted right by the cukes, so they haven't grown much. One variety of tomato is same as done and the other has just started getting ripe. Probably our last year growing a garden. Just too hard for my hubby to do anything to it once he plants it. And I don't do garden work. Not my thing.

We saw this guy at the park about two years ago. Saw another one at the same place another time not long after that.

Going Crazy, Have you ever done this?

BTW, if your son has power of attorney on anything, go first thing Monday morning and change that. -

If the agent is a professional, he isn't going to be insulted if you decide to list with someone else. -

My opinion, for what it's worth. 1. If the property is in your name and your son's name is not on it, it's none of his damn business. 2. If the property is in your name and your son's name is not on it but you know the name of the agency (or even just the agent's name) that your son is "dealing" with, notify the broker that YOU have not listed your property with them and if anyone tries to do so, it is fraudulent. 3. Notify the police in case this guy (not your son) has tried to do this before. 4. Accept that your son may prevent you from seeing the grandkids. But absolute -
We haven't done it recently but we used to swim in the river. After we bought a boat, we stopped doing that. We'd been told there were gators in the part of the river where we used to swim but have never seen one. We saw them up river and down river though, everything from smallish ones to a very large gator.

Personally, the last place I'd expect to see an alligator would be in a man made lagoon. They do walk (we have them them on land as well as in the water) so they may have walked there but you have to wonder if that really is how they got there. We were going down a slue off the river last year and saw one in the water about 30 feet off the right of the boat. Houses were about 20 feet off the left of the boat. Went down the slue a bit and saw another up in the grass. I-10 was directly overhead. We've also seen them at a local park. They are pretty common in this area, as are bears and bo

I thought about the brave people aboard United Flight 93 today. What would they have done? Just sit down and let someone gun them down or go down fighting, thereby saving others?

Borateem in the wash and Affresh once a month. Also leave the lid or door open when not in use.

I'll have to check into that Persil. My white clothes have yellowed some. Odd because I wash them separately. I got some kind of brightener and it worked pretty well. But I'll look at Persil.

I found the advantage to them was you got the same amount of detergent every time. Clean better? I didn't find that at all. Cleaned as well though.

I figured it was because all the great businesses in downtown left. Like Pcom.

Stewed squash with Vidalias, fresh cucumbers from the garden and boiled okra. Almost no appetite these days which is good because hubby (and I) desperately need to lose some weight. Hubby is the heaviest he ever has been and since he is having more pain, he knows losing weight should help at least some.

We have gotten small tomatoes, almost like cherry tomatoes but a little bit bigger, for about 10 days. Been getting cucumbers for about a month. Jalapenos are big enough to pick. The Beefsteak tomatoes are growing but nowhere near ready to pick yet. That's all we did this year. I could have done without the cucumbers but we had the seeds from last year so we thought "ah, why not". Our jalapenos are from peppers we saved from last year. Hubby has gotten to where he simply can't work in the garden any more. He's like a dog chasing a car though. If he caught it, he wouldn't be able

The social media is not responsible for people's actions, regardless of what it is created for. Bad decisions were around long before social media came along. And teenagers tend to made bad decisions. How many people my age ever heard "hey watch this!!". Now they can share it online but it was being done long before that ability was created. Starr and Dru's Nana has been out to lunch for a long time. Kinda runs in the family.

People are responsible for their actions. Social media is not responsible for what their users, who are presumably adults, do. I can see someone suing Pubby because they were reading Pcom and had an accident.
-
The decisions would likely be bad with or without these apps. The apps just give people an excuse to use. I was young once, many years ago, and made some bad decisions.

Snapchat was not driving recklessly and documenting it. Driver was.

Abuse of the Senior Property Tax Break? (Cobb County)
Mama Carol replied to The Sound Guy's topic in RECENT TOPICS
It's my understanding that the property owners, all of them, must live at the residence and qualify for homestead exemption in order to claim this. If indeed the older man is a resident, qualifies to claim homestead exemption and is on the deed, sounds like it would be legal. Might be a loophole but a legal one. I agree that it might be a good idea for Georgia to close the loophole to where only a married couple who own property jointly, or a single person who owns property by themselves would be eligible to get the exemption and if they add someone to the dead, it could only be a spouse or
