  1. I've never been to that part of it. I've only traveled between Crestview and Pensacola. I understand Live Oak is really pretty though.
  2. I have never once been denied health care services because I refused to answer their question about firearms. I have a pat answer to "do you feel safe?" I answer "as long as I stay off Highway 90 I do". Highway 90 is our equivalent of 278 through Hiram at rush hour, except it's that way all the time.
  3. BGE is a charcoal grill. Better if you use lump charcoal because it burns longer. We sold our other grill in 2010 when we thought were were moving. Didn't miss it. But we got the BGE about two years ago and cook something on it almost every week. Our favorites are ribs and pork shoulder.
  4. We have a Big Green Egg. Love it, love it, love it.
  5. In 12-16 years, there will be all new people in the metro Atlanta area if it continues to grow like it did in the 1960s, 1970s and 1980s with the older residents moving out of the area (or dying) and new people taking their place.
  6. We had Home Depot do the windows and Champion do the siding at the house where we lived. I highly recommend them both. We had Window World do the windows at our rental. They weren't quite the same quality as the ones from Home Depot but then again, they didn't cost nearly as much either. That house had aluminum siding already.
  7. The first year of the ACA, I filed my return on February 2. I finally got my refund in late August. So, yeah, I totally agree about our government being run by idiots. At least the IRS is. I've been very pleasantly surprised with the efficiency of the Social Security Administration though. Something they told me might take 2 weeks to get corrected was done within 48 hours.
  8. Yeah, me, too. I always do ours in early February. Habit from years of doing tax prep. I wanted to get mine done while I still had a brain. LOL Or at least what passes for one. And as a tax preparer, I am sooooooooooo happy to be done with work for a while. Back to being "retired".
  9. I've been around people who thought you were SUPPOSED to pull into the intersection so you'd be sure to get your turn. Thankfully, I don't ride anywhere with them now.
  10. sounds like this is the neighbor's problem to handle without anyone else getting involved who isn't required to get involved.
  11. I doubt it. I met her in 1995 and she was driving for Paulding. Seems like she said she always had driven for Paulding, too. I don't recall her wearing glasses either though she may have at some point. She was a wonderful lady. Wish I could attend the ribbon cutting. I used to pass her a couple of mornings a week as she was leaving the bus barn. We'd wave to each other. Sure took me a while to get used to not seeing her.
  12. I did not defend their actions. What they did was despicable. No two ways about it. Had I been in attendance and had my children been there (in theory because my children are in their late 30s and 40s), I would have simply turned and walked away.
  13. Bodily harm should carry a stiffer sentence than calling someone names. Granted, there is emotional and mental injury when one is called names and certainly if one is threatened, but if nobody was physically hurt why should there be a stronger sentence than if someone was, say, murdered? Punishment and the crime need to correlate somehow. That's not to say that what they did was despicable and they should be punished for it. But let's get real. I've seen murderers who were let off with 7 years. And one, who murdered a friend of mine, had his conviction overturned. Never mind he was
  14. Years ago, I kept having the same dream. I dreamed about a plane crash in Paulding County. Yep, that one came true. I have not had that dream in almost 40 years.
  15. Maybe not an old wives' tale but more along the line of a superstition. If you tell a dream before you eat, it will come true. So I did. I am really hoping it comes true, too.
  16. The punishment should fit the crime. Was anyone physically harmed?
  17. I wondered where that happened. All I had heard was "suburbs of Atlanta". I had, and still have, strong ties to both counties. Is it enough or too much? Hard to say. Does look like they are being used as examples. And that's wrong, regardless of how despicable what they did was. Makes me ashamed to be from that area.
  18. I remember going to the Marietta office. It wasn't too terribly bad except they never called my husband when his turn came. They said they called it three times but I'm positive we both didn't miss it three times. I went to the one down here in Pensacola. I was in and out in a half hour. Not that they did what they were supposed to do but at least I didn't have to wait long for them to do nothing. LOL
  19. I don't even think we have a Wells Fargo anywhere close by. Seems like when we closed on our house, the attorney gave us a check drawn on W/F and we couldn't find one to take it to. Ended up taking it to what was then my bank (now has our joint account).
  20. Well, the bank was no help. They said they couldn't do anything other than get on the phone with Social Security with me and give them the account number. I guess I'll be calling SSA next week. Getting more and more disappointed in our bank. I don't know if they can't do things because of regulations by either the government or headquarters or if they just won't do things. Might be time to go to one of the many credit unions in the county. I hate to change banks. Been with them for about 15 years, starting with that little modular thing they had across from First Baptist in Dall
  21. No, just wrong account number but not a valid account number. Put one too many 0s in the number. I think I'll head to the bank tomorrow.
  22. Yeah, I'm thinking I'll get a check in about six weeks. Maybe I can get it changed at the bank so this doesn't happen next month.
  23. If you claimed an earned income credit, the IRS started processing those refunds last Wednesday. You can check the status of your refund at: https://www.irs.gov/refunds
