  1. Have your grandson file a police report.
  2. Why work if there is no incentive?
  3. I am happy to have lived my life the way I did. Wouldn't change a thing. Well, maybe one. I might have gotten a little bit bigger house but that's about it. I was being sarcastic, not bitter. I've never cared about money. I cared about doing what made me happy. There are some people who know me who would be surprised to hear me say I love my seasonal employer. I didn't to start with but now I do.
  4. Sometimes there was a choice between keeping a roof over our heads and putting food on the table or having health insurance. Health insurance lost out. And we have paid for that choice many times over. But we were stuck between a rock and a hard place--food and a roof or health insurance. At least now we're forced to have health insurance. Ain't life grand??? I loved what I did. No whining about it. Loved it. Wouldn't change a thing about it. I worked around some of the most prosperous people in the county. I was proud of their success and felt devastated with their failures.
  5. Really? I guess I can forget ever getting THAT much in Social Security benefits. I won't even get the average of $1300. Maybe I should have worked more. Or longer. Or had a really good paying job instead of one I loved.
  6. When our oldest daughter began driving, we "assigned" her to the oldest clunker we had. It was built like a tank but would protect her in case of an accident. That was HER car to drive, pay for gas and repairs, etc. It was still in my husband's name but it was my daughter's car. Insurance company decided they were going to make her the primary driver on a car she was not allowed to drive, make my husband the primary driver of the car our daughter drove and made me the primary driver of the truck my husband drove to work. I called them, several times, and explained to them that not only wa
  7. Having lost two siblings myself, my heart is breaking for you.
  8. Freaked me out the first time it happened. My husband said "why are you calling our home number".
  9. Yep. Used to do that when I had an obscene caller, too.
  10. That's just it. They don't know who they are making the call for a lot of the time. I decided to tell one of them to put me on their company's no call list and he wanted to know what company called me. I said "I don't know. YOU called ME! It would be the company you made the call for". He said without me knowing the name of the company, he couldn't put me on their no call list. Bull! Put me on all of them that you make calls for.
  11. I got so tired of reporting telemarketing calls that I stopped reporting them. I either don't answer at all or I answer and if it's a live person tell them I am on the do not call list and that means them, too and I don't want them to call EVER. If it's a robocall, I hang up. My phone service provides 26 blocking slots. I have 26 of them filled up. I had to delete a few of the older ones to make room for the newer calls. I got a lot of the calls from the "legal department" or the "fraud department". The caller would say that they would be filing a lawsuit against me and my account
  12. Some restrictions apply. As always.
  13. If you could convince them to go the ER I believe they can be transferred to mental health treatment for 72 hours. It's been a long time since I dealt with my sister in law in that situation but they did keep her for 3 days at Greenwood. That was a long time ago though and things may have changed. Good luck! I know this is a scary and distressing situation to deal with. Long term, perhaps inpatient through Cobb/Douglas Mental Health (I think they also have people from Paulding in there). Again, it's been a long time since I had to deal with that.
  14. I asked my sister in law and trust me, she knows the mental health environment of Atlanta like the back of her hand. She's schizoaffective and has been in the Greenwood Center, Georgia Regional and a few other places that no longer exist. She suggested an evaluation with Dr. Klopper at what used to be Brawner's in Smyrna. He is apparently one of the best in the SE. I have to say, he has helped her tremendously.
  15. I didn't know if they had it in Georgia or not. That is what they did with the guy who used to own our house. Maybe one of these resources. http://naminorthsideatlanta.org/resources/
  16. Not sure if it's available in Georgia but look into the Baker Act.
  17. If the home is not secured by a mortgage, you are not required to have homeowners or flood insurance. Lenders can require flood insurance even in areas where it's not federally mandated. Also, be aware that in most areas of Florida if you are in a mobile home you are in a Category 1 hurricane evacuation zone. I've been told by several different people, real estate agents and insurance brokers among them, that north of I-10 homeowner's insurance premiums are cheaper than they are south of I-10. If south of I-10 is more expensive, YIKES!! Homeowners insurance is something we have d
  18. And if you would prefer freezing temperatures for a day or so in the winter, you can always live in the panhandle. We had ice a couple of years ago but it shut things down overnight. Next day it was pretty much back to normal though it was still pretty cool.
  19. Hubby had some kind of prescription colon blow. I had mine exactly one week to day after his and the very same doctor had me use massive doses of Miralax. LOL His first one showed what was deemed to be a polyp. Second one was clear. Second doctor said he didn't believe there had been a polyp on the first one. First one was done after a very difficult, almost impossible to complete prep. Hubby was on pain meds which had him stopped up four ways to Sunday.
  20. You should always use your own realtor. The seller's realtor represents their interest. You need someone to represent your interest. Where are you buying?
  21. Mine was in Douglas. Can't remember the doctor's name but the office was down on Thornton Road if I remember correctly. No, it doesn't hurt. You're out when it's done. The prep is by far and away the worst part of the whole thing.
  22. I am sooooooo envious of all of you with your abundant crops of tomatoes. We didn't get enough tomatoes to make a sandwich. Our sun is just awful on plants. And apparently sand isn't a good growing medium. LOL thank goodness for the produce stand about a half mile down the road. I don't think I ever completely cooked tomatoes to can. I'd blanch them, remove the skins and then just put them in hot jars with a touch of salt and a touch of lemon juice and then can them for however long the instructions with the canner said. We used to do peppers and tomatoes every year. Some
  23. I hope her doctor reported it to the appropriate health department down here.
  24. I haven't been there in probably 30 years. Once we discovered Navarre Beach we never went east from there to stay. Went to Fort Walton Beach a few times to visit.
  25. I nominate that mom for Mother of the Year. You don't WAIT for someone to do something to your kids. You prevent it from happening.
