ideas for getting 2 year old to play alone
Mama Carol replied to Mama Carol's topic in RECENT TOPICS
Since her birthday is coming up in about a month, I think a play kitchen might be what we get her. They can even set it up in the half bath just off the kitchen since they never use that bathroom. It would be out of the way and be "her" space but be right there with mom. Small house, two babies so there isn't much room for stuff like that without using that room. I'll keep an eye out on yard sales and thrift stores for extras for the kitchen, too. Good idea!! I remember my daughter loved the play kitchen she had. Guess her daughter is just wanting to be like mom. THAN -
My daughter and son in law are at end of their ropes. Their (almost) 2 year old would rather hang around with them, especially with mom while she does laundry and cook, than play alone in her room with her toys. Or even just play alone with her toys in the kitchen or living room. With a 2 month old to care for as well, it is very difficult to entertain the older one all the time. She doesn't seem interested in pull toys, coloring books (even though she can't color yet), dolls or anything. She would rather help mom put clothes in the washing machine or in the dryer and stuff like that

Thank goodness it isn't I-85 between Atlanta and Montgomery. I was going to be if it had been.

I would say thank you face-to-face and either find out what charity they support and send a donation in their honor, or make a donation in their honor to a charity that you support.

Horse hockey. The legislators OFTEN enact laws in direct opposition to what the citizens overwhelming would like. Many of them are not there to serve the desires of the citizens but there to be wined and dined by lobbyists and to serve THEIR desires. BTW, I have had a politician or two in my family.

I still laugh about the time my brother went to the store on Sunday and tried to buy toilet paper. They wouldn't sell it to him! I also remember that in the past contracts signed on Sunday were not valid. It may have even been that way until the late 1970s. well, you could (and I guess still can) get it on Sunday if you know where and are willing to pay more than double the regular price. We used to take many a Sunday afternoon drive.

That's a good question. Also, it would concern me if they paid a deposit and first month's rent but didn't sign a lease. Basically, that sounds like they might be SOL about getting anything back. If it was a verbal agreement and it went to court, it would be his word against their word. My daughter and SIL will tell you in a heartbeat that if you're a young couple, nobody is going to believe you even when you're telling the truth, especially in matters like this. Yes, the property must be kept habitable and not having water is not being kept habitable. However, without a lease th

Not sure but I don't think there is a law that says you can't drink on Sunday. Nor is there a law that says you can't go to church on Thursday. Hardly seems like the inability to buy alcohol on Sunday would be a separation of church and state issue. Alcohol use isn't a religious issue and therefore, legislating it would not impose the mandate of a particular religion. BTW, I think if you can't buy alcohol on Sunday, just buy enough on Saturday to last through the weekend. Seriously, I am not opposed to the sale of alcohol on Sunday. I remember, quite vividly, when Cobb County

It has been my experience, that if you have solid proof that they valued the property too high, the BOE is on your side. Without proof, nobody is.

I think you skipped a step. When you receive your property tax valuation, you must file an appeal. If the appeal is denied, it is then referred to the Board of Equalization. It is after THAT step that you may file an appeal of that through court. You MUST go through the appeal before it goes to the BOE, which BTW is comprised of ordinary citizens (not politicians and not county employees). I'm 2 for 3 with the Board of Equalization. The last time they dropped the value to lower than we estimated. The time before, the value was what we had paid for the property less than a year earlie

depending upon where it was coming from, the fire on 92 could be anywhere. 92 goes AT LEAST from Woodstock to Griffin.

My girls were in the care of their GRANDMOTHER! It was their grandfather who molested them. Hubby and I thought we were being overprotective since they were either in our sight, the two older ones biological mom or that of the grandparents.

While I understand your fear about sex offenders, let me remind you that the "sex offenders" you need to be really scared of are not the ones you know about. The ones you need to fear are the ones who have slipped under the radar, so to speak. The coach, the neighbor, the friend or the relative. Statistics show that the overwhelming majority of kids who are molested OR kidnapped are victimized by THOSE THEY KNOW AND WHO THEY AND THEIR PARENTS TRUST. And having been through the agony of having children molested, I can say from first hand experience that while I was so busy trying to protect

I can't remember for certain but my son in law has been out of work since either June 2 or July 2. I think it was June 2. Lots of things have happened since that time and the exact date escapes me. To Rockster: my husband was the same way Sugail's husband was--if he got pissed about something at work, he would quit and OFTEN have a job before he went to bed that night. Even as recently as 2007, he did that. When he was laid off in May 2008, he looked for a job until September 2008. At that point, he was 57 years old, over 40 years of experience in his field, well known in his fie

Thank you for posting this. I was telling my husband this afternoon that I wanted to go to the meeting but would have to check the date and time because I couldn't remember. -
short of a cortisone shot, try Ivy-Dri. I think you can get it almost anywhere. If you have a pretty bad cause of it, you might be better off getting a shot. I may end up doing that. I have it on my chest, my back, my upper arms, my thighs, a couple of spots on my hands and in the fold at the top of my leg. I may even have some on my neck and face, but I'm hoping that isn't what this is. Good luck!

Since you didn't say what you intend to study it makes it difficult to recommend anything. However, let me say this: I have a friend who got her library science degree almost exclusively online through the University of Alabama. I believe she said she had to go to the campus twice during the time she was taking the course. She's now in grad school for a Masters in Library Science. Check out the colleges in neighboring states, too. I believe someone on here was taking an accounting course through Liberty University. I can't remember exactly who it was, though. They seem to have a v

I have never used publically available tax prep software but it surprises me that neither of the ones you mentioned FORCE the itemized deduction on the state return. All the commercial programs I have used do. Come on, we KNOW the state doesn't want to help the lower income people. Come to think of it, they don't want to help anyone in the state seems like.

They do have a gas station on almost every corner. Well, the corners not occupied by a drugstore or bank. That area used to be nice. Of course, there are a lot of areas in the metro Atlanta area that used to be nice and aren't anymore.

It hasn't been but a couple of years since a deer crashed into the window at Curl's Pharmacy. A guy I went to church with happened to go by just minutes after that. He asked me if I saw it. For some reason, I wasn't at work that day and didn't know about it until he asked me. I used to see beaver and deer quite a bit on my way to work in downtown Dallas. I usually saw them around the bridge just before the bus barn.

I had a friend who graduated from Paulding County High in 1969 or 1970. My dad and I came out to the graduation. FROM SMYRNA. I think it was a good two hours to get there. And she and I used to write letters to each other because it was a long distance phone call. In Smyrna?

I thought it might be. About the only exit numbers I know for certain are exit 77 off I-65, exit 22 off I-85 in Alabama and exit 7 off I-10 in Florida. It's rare for me to be on an interstate here with the exception of I-20. I am quite familiar with 85 south of Atlanta, I-65 between Montgomery and exit 77 and I-10 in Florida from exits 7 to 20-something.

well put. but where exactly is Exit 263???

I don't and never have lived in Paulding but I remember K Mart being built! I was excited about that because I had been going to the old K Mart in Mableton (the one that is now a furniture store) and Hiram is a lot closer to my house. And to even THINK about going to Yorkville, you needed a map and a picnic because it was a long trip from anywhere. Don't get me started on all the changes I've seen in west Cobb either. Or in Smyrna. I just hope that where we plan to move doesn't change that fast and that much. Those of us who live in west Cobb consider Kennesaw either north
