In Florida, officials confirmed an oil sheen Tuesday about nine miles from Pensacola Beach, where the summer tourism season was just getting started. Winds were forecast to blow from the south and west, pushing the slick closer to western Panhandle beaches. This just breaks my heart, even worse than knowing how this oil leak has impacted Louisiana.

I generally wait until I have enough to get the free shipping to order anything. If there is something I want, I'll ask my hubby if there are any books or anything else they might have that he wants. I love Amazon.com. Love it, love it, love it. I also use the discount coupons I get from Staples and buy my printer ink and use the coupon to get $25 off a $75 order. I can ALWAYS find enough stuff that I need office-supply-wise to fill out the remainder of the $75. With two printers that use the same ink, I always buy the 3 pack, which runs about $60 so that just leaves me $15 more to ge

Debt collectors are prohibited by law from disclosing that to a third party. I believe LGM said that she asked the name of the company once and was told it was a private matter.

As you are well aware, we just recently got into the 21st century by getting a DVD player. That said, I never buy electronics of any kind without first shopping around, primarily online. We bought my laptop at Best Buy after I shopped online through every imagable site. It was cheaper at the store than online because the sales tax was less than the shipping. That's usually my benchmark for buying things online--if the shipping is less than the sales tax wherever I would buy it, I get it online. My favorite cost-cutting shopping place and item is Amazon.com for books. Clothes, I do

Here's a link that might be helpful: http://www.privacyrights.org/fs/fs27-debtcoll.htm However, it seems to me that a lot of debt collectors don't care about the fact that you aren't the person they want and will continue to call even if informed in writing not to contact you again. In that respect, you, as someone else, have fewer rights than the person who owes the debt does. They can at least get the debt collector to stop calling them. But you might tell them that if they decide to call again they need to call your attorney and give them the name and number of an attorney. Have

I agree with Naturegirl. Again. AARP can keep their crap as far as I'm concerned. Don't want it, don't need it, couldn't care less.

I think they are required by law to tell you what company they are calling from. If they refuse, tell them you are reporting them IMMEDIATELY to the FTC and to the Governor's Office of Consumer Affairs because they are violating the laws. I had one that kept calling that was a robo-call. There was NEVER a way to talk to a real person without saying you were the person they were calling and were willing to settle the debt. I reported them to the FTC and they haven't called lately. I was ready to report them to the GOCA when they stopped the calls. I feel for you. It's frustrating

If you can remember the name of the company, send them a letter, by certified mail, telling them that the person they are looking for at your number does not live there nor have they ever to your knowledge. If you don't remember that information, the next time they call, ask for the name of the company and their mailing address. Tell them once again that the person they are looking for doesn't live there and that you are notifying them in writing to stop calling you and should they continue to call after that, you will file a complaint with the FTC. I have had to do that with two places who

Hubby and I both have Asus laptops and love them! Mine has more memory,a larger hard drive and cost less than the comparable HP, which is what I wanted when I walked in the store. We both highly recommend Asus laptops. His operates on Vista which he isn't crazy about but mine operates on Windows 7 which after I got used to, has been great. I had to get used to using a laptop, a different O/S, different version of Office and going wireless all at the same time! It took me a while to get adjusted to it all but now my desktop with Windows XP and a wired internet connection seems odd. I k

Not all immigrants, legal or illegal, are Hispanic. There are immigrants, legal and illegal, from many countries around the world. The really sad thing is I have a nephew who is from Equador. He was adopted at one year of age. He clearly looks to be Hispanic. I'm quite sure he is mistaken for an immigrant all the time, and probably an illegal one at that, based simply on his looks. He never knew Equador. Another nephew married a woman from the Phillipines. Again, she looks to be Hispanic. She became a US citizen not long after arriving here shortly after they got married. S

"Obamacare" was supposed to help prevent inaccuracies in medical records by requiring electronic medical records. As I have discovered the last month or so by getting these office notes, that is not the case. Inaccuracies abound! EMRs are only as as accurate as the information plugged into them. GIGO. The bad thing is I've been present at all of these visits and know exactly what was and was not discussed as well as know some other items that were stated that are not true. I was told by one person in a medical office recently that the whole reasoning behind the EMR was NOT for accurac

I worked for one doctor who occasionally came to me, handed me what he had written and said "what does this say?" I could read his writing better than he could!

Actually, I'm referring to the PCPs notes about requesting the referral to the specialist. Haven't seen the specialist yet and from the PCPs notes there is no indication that a referral was requested or needed. THAT is what needs to be changed. Our insurance doesn't require a referral to a specialist. However, both my husband and myself made mention that he needed to go to this particular type of doctor and asked for a recommendation or referral. Not sure EMRs are an improvement. I've read doctor's notes before and spent 17 years doing transcription and while that wasn't perfect, us

No referral was given, as none is required by insurance. We would just like it to be on the record that he requested a referral. We were told how to make the appointment but nothing was in the note about him asking for one, or the reason he requested it. It could be very important in the future.

Mayo (not picky about brand) Ketchup (Hunts) canned tomatoes tuna (chunk white in water) Tetley family size tea bags coffee green tea cat food (yep, gotta keep the furry member of the family happy) bacon (Tyson) soup veggies muffin mix (prefer blueberry but in a pinch don't care) I'd rather not run out of the Sara Lee Delightful whole wheat bread. That's cause for a special trip to the store.

I'm not one of them. Already have had a taste of EMRs and I don't like it.

Will they actually do the addendum? As a former MT, it just chaps my hide to see mistakes in office notes. It ain't rocket science people!

I'd go for the interview. Never hurts to keep the skills fresh. And who knows, they might come up with enough money. I actually left an interview once literally PRAYING that I wouldn't get the job because there was no way on earth I would work in that environment, at that location for that amount of money. Thankfully, God answered that prayer. However, it proved to be a great benefit to me to have gone on the interview. It reminded me of what to look for in an interview, as well as sharpened my interview skills. Good luck to you!

We have gotten the medical records from all of the doctors my husband has seen lately--all four of them. Three use the electronic medical records and one still dictates his notes and has his transcriptionist type them (yes, on a typewriter!). Interestingly enough, the three who use EMRs have mistakes in them. Small mistakes maybe, but mistakes just the same. If a patient asks for a referral to a specialist but nothing is mentioned in the office note, that's a bigger mistake. My question for office managers or really anyone who might know the answer to this is: how would one go about gett

Is it possible that instead of "utility inspector" this was a "utility marker"? We have seen them in all kinds of vehicles--green trucks, white trucks, black cars, red SUVs. Depends on what service it is doing the work. And in answer to your statement about wouldn't you get a call, not if there is no problem with your utilities. If they are just marking lines before digging, you wouldn't be notified. The knock on the door may have been to alert you to their presence outside your house. When the development stage for the subdivision at the end of our street was taking place, we had u

I, too, love Dr. Vaughn. Wonderful man, great chiropractor. I recommend him highly and without reservations. Also, your hubby might try changing to a different pain management doc. They all seem to have different approaches to pain management. My hubby originally went to Dr. Cable in Smyrna but changed to Dr. Rao (who will be in Hiram) due to insurance reasons.

I guess I need to give back the geek t-shirt because I can't remember how I set up the router. NO CLUE!

I have a friend with degenerative joint disease of the lumbar spine and my husband also has it. My friend was prescribed Mackenzie exercises. They are a *particular* type of exercises for the spine, both the neck and back. I do them for my neck and they do help A LOT! Hubby hasn't tried any type of PT as yet. Good luck on anything helping the pain, and I don't want to sound like a downer but it's a fact. The best bet, though not a quick fix, is the exercises specifically for the back. Oh, there are several books on the exercises. Just have to check with the library and make sure to

Neither computer gave a problem. Seemed like it took a good while for the laptop to download the driver, but I just went and sat with my hubby and watched TV and then went back to check on it and it was good. I remember having a problem hooking up my hubby's laptop (Vista) with his printer. Ended up pulling the old HP inkjet out of the closet and using it instead of the one he had (a laser fax/printer). I don't think I'm brave enough to hook up two printers. Hooking up two computers to one printer is complicated enough for me.
