Well, did some checking and the totals of everything the company should pay us falls well within the limits of small claims court. Additionally, their corporate headquarters is located where we thought, so it should be simple to file a claim. Now, to find that contract and precert letter.

Believe me, you don't want to know what my first reaction was. Let's just say "having a cow" would be an understatement. I definitely plan to be super nice to the imaging center to see if they will reduce it. Just seems wrong that they had to write off well over half when the insurance company initially paid and then reinstated the write off when the insurance company demanded their money back. The insurance company PRECERTIFIED the procedure. And I believe that happened in December, before the MRI was done. If they precertified in December, they should have to pay whether or not

Going to check into the monetary limit on filing that. I think it should be under the limit but want to make sure.

they were not at all happy when we made them give us the COBRA premium assistance. And that is in their favor!! Yep, might be time to dig that contract out.

I didn't know the man, but based on his age, I'd say no. He wouldn't have been old enough.

That's what I want to do--send the employer a bill. They did offer to reimburse us for the prescriptions when they realized that we had to pay for them. But reimbursing us for $99 is a whole lot different than reimbursing us for the MRI (over $1400), my mammogram(don't remember how much but several hundred) AND the prescriptions. We do have a bit of leverage with them, so if I can get my hubby to do that, we will send them a bill for EVERYTHING we have had to pay, and even what the imaging center wants us to pay on the MRI. No, they released him from his contract six weeks into it. A y

LOL. My hubby always says to ask because the worst they can do is slap you upside the head and tell you h*** no. I am FURIOUS about this because the company my hubby worked for was SUPPOSED to pay for the insurance that month and DIDN'T! Now just THIS bill is more than twice that amount and we could have paid the insurance had we known they weren't going to! And he was in the office EVERY DAY that month and they never once mentioned it! Can you say PISSED?

Not so much wanting a payment plan, as we can afford to pay for it all at once, but it seems grossly unfair that if the insurance had paid they would have gotten roughly $500 but if WE pay they get over $1400! Just seems wrong. While I agree that they shouldn't be shorted, they did everything they were supposed to do by getting the pre-cert. It was the company my hubby was doing the work for that screwed up. THEY should be paying, not us.
-
Past tense. Worked for. That's the thing about they didn't honor a written agreement. Hubby really thought the owner of the company was an honorable man and that if he SAID they would pay the insurance that they would.
-
That's a good idea. Plus, I'm quite sure we paid something on the MRI and they didn't show any payment from us. I'll be calling them anyway. I will try to get the bill reduced.

OK, here is the situation. Last year my husband and I were covered under COBRA. He agreed to go back to work for that employer AS AN INDEPENDENT CONTRACTOR and in return, they agreed to pay our COBRA. After the first month, they realized their mistake and changed it to agreeing to pay for his share of the insurance (meaning we would have to pay the spouse's portion). We agreed with all of this. Since they were supposed to pay for COBRA, we didn't. Turned out that neither did they. He had an MRI and one doctor's visit and I had a mammogram in that same month. The insurance wasn't going

He might not equate the bad taste with the Bactrim. Little kids just don't know what licking a piece of tin tastes like.
-
Mine had a white spot in the middle, too. Glad your son's abscess is better already! Has he mentioned the terrible taste that Bactrim leaves?
-
Mine went down about $20 over the previous month. I think it was for four fewer days, though. Much more prefer the September/October bills over any of the others.

with your hubby's high blood pressure and your son's asthma, don't even THINK about dropping the COBRA. The premium assistance is short term anyway, so you'll soon be paying higher premiums for insurance. I can't remember but I think the premium assistance only lasts for nine months. Dropping it right now would not be the right thing to do. My hubby and I go through this every month. Do we keep it, or do we drop it? Fortunately, we haven't had to make that decision based on what we can afford because we CAN afford the COBRA. It's cheaper than what we would have to pay for his monthly do

does it look like the picture here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sebaceous_cyst That's what I had. They hurt like a SOB, have a knot under the skin and will come up very quickly. Antibiotics also take care of them pretty easily, as does draining them.
-
I had a similar abscess come up on me but it wasn't on my face. Antibiotics and draining it took care of it completely. And believe it or not, having it drained hurt tremendously LESS than it did anyway. The knot I had under the skin was about quarter size and hurt like a SOB. You spelled Bactrim correctly. You might want to provide your son with popsicles or something with a good flavor because that stuff leaves a nasty taste in your mouth.

One of the things I like best about getting older
Mama Carol replied to LPPT's topic in RECENT TOPICS
well said. FWIW, I think I'm just getting better as I get older. -
I Bangor. Never went in the dead of winter, though. Was there in May, September and December. Even the December I was there, it was warm and they got their first snow of the season the day we left.

My hubby used to travel a lot in his job. He was in International Falls once with the actual temperature was 25 below, with a wind chill of 35 below. He decided right then and there that the ONLY reason one lives in that type of environment is that they are a fugitive from the law. And he LIKES cold weather!
-
Belize? Rio? If you find that place, let me know. I'll join you.
-
A lot like being in Mobile, but without the gulf nearby. I hate snow, too. And cold weather. Anything below 70 degrees is totally unnecessary. I don't even need the inground pool.

I might add that it doesn't matter if it is a "prepaid" label or not. ANYWHERE that accepts Fedex will take it. And like Mark said, call Fedex to pick it up! You probably can't do that online because it asks for billing information but a call would work. I used to prepare toner cartridges to go back for recycling and have taken them to various places. Most of those ship UPS but I have had a couple go back Fedex.
