I just got home from dropping hubby off at the Florence Road trailhead for the Silver Comet Trail. We go to Oglesby, turn left on 278, then turn left on Florence. Lots of traffic heading toward Bankhead Highway but no problem turning. Since the traffic is so bad this early in the morning, I decided to bypass that way home and come through Powder Springs down the new Lewis Road. I turned in town and it was clear sailing to 278. Apparently the light had just turned red for Oglesby because I had to sit there and sit there and sit there. Finally the other side got a turn light and a green li

That is one of the two major issues that our last church had with us. We didn't tithe when we sold property (and the church knew we did and knew what we got for it). The other issue they had with us was our biracial grandchildren, who we brought to church with us. But they pretty much let us know we weren't doing God's will by not tithing. When my hubby had a machine shop, he had a customer come in wanting some machine work and/or welding done. Small job, probably $150-$200 range. Then the guy had the nerve to ask if the cost of the work could be "contributed" to the pastor of

I rarely go Westside and when I do, I'm turning right onto 278 to go toward Austell. Rarely do I try to turn left off 278. And Humphries Hill just irritates the daylights of me with NO turn sign on Humphries Hill, but yet they have turn lanes.

South Paulding got a LOT of stores all of a sudden. And I can't get ANYTHING else. I do love my Kroger but it would be nice to have a choice. Actually, I never had a problem getting out of the Publix to go east on 278. In fact, when I go to Staples, I never get on 278. I cross it and use the same street I used when Publix was still there.

You have more of a choice than I do. I have two choices within 5 miles and one of them I only go to if I have to. Kroger on Brownsville is slightly more than a mile from my house. Food Depot on Bankhead Highway in Austell/Lithia Springs is 5.4 miles. I don't go there until it's necesary. Publix in Powder Springs is 4 miles but I don't like that store and only go maybe once a year. I like Food Lion but it's 6.2 miles from my house. I SOOOOOOO wanted a Food Lion at Brownsville and 278, where the old Winn Dixie/Save Rite was. ANYTHING to give competition to Kroger. I had been told sev

I hate the wait at Cleburne Parkway and 278. If you get there just as the light on Cleburne turns red, you might as well get out a book because you're going to be there for awhile. Oglesby Road (in Powder Springs) is bad, too.

I guess it went poof. I did get a kick out of the pop up on Chrome. It said "this page is in German. Do you want to translate?"

A one dish oven meal. Hamburger patties with pepper and onion mixture, sliced zucchini, onions and mushrooms. A variation on my usual hamburger patty, potatoes, carrots and onions. We're on South Beach diet and potatoes and carrots aren't allowed so I substituted them with zucchini. Mine has a roasted red pepper on it, too. I love those things! I've eaten almost a whole jar TODAY.

I haven't used one before but a friend of mine has. It's in the Evans Mill complex, behind the BP at Macland and 120. Sorry, but I can't for the life of me remember the name of it. It's called Staff Right.

actually, it was around back in their day. They just might not have known about it happening. Thanks for passing the word!

equal parts lime and sevin dust. Mix together and use a spreader (like a seed spreader) to cover the yard.

easy, cost effective way to increase your business

EXCELLENT!! -
at my brother's house in Blairsville. I fell in love that day. And here all these years later, I'm still in love with my Internet. My favorite was the FDA (I think, could have been CDC) database. It was NOT for the faint of heart. It was nothing at all like "point and click" or even user friendly. I still remember going in Radio Shack back in the late 1980s and asking if they had a program for the TRS80 computer that would do bookkeeping. They looked at me like I was nuts.

I didn't look over at you but did notice my bottle of water shaking like crazy. I just thought "big truck going too fast". I can't wait to see what my granddaughter says. She is in DC. By the time next week comes, she may be ready to come back to Georgia. Car stolen first day in town, fourth day in town they have an earthquake and apparently the hurricane will have an impact on them. Geez. She sure picked a time to move there!

Tell me why Health Insurance must be purchased at your place of work ?
Mama Carol replied to surepip's topic in RECENT TOPICS
I disagree. Mine is very reasonable, an individual plan and no more than we were paying for a high deductible HSA. It's a regular insurance plan, with doctor copays, prescription coverage after a deductible, a deductible and covers tons of stuff. I think my mammogram will be at no copay this year. That's a first!! I've even stated over and over again on here, that I pay a 25% assessment because I've over their weight limitation. And it's STILL reasonable and still lower than the HSA we had through the (former) employer that sucked. Hubby can't get coverage right now and will be eligible -
I've learned there are two places you don't want to be in certain circumstances. #1--you don't want to be in a stucco building during a hurricane. I was during Katrina. We watched pieces of the building go flying across Main Street, narrowing missing one guy who was walking down the sidewalk. #2--you don't want to be in a 130+ year old building, on the second floor, during an earthquake. Seriously, I thought a big truck when through downtown Dallas. I could have looked out the building, I guess. Note to Pubby: did you notice the quake? It never occurred to me that it was an earth

So that's what that was? I thought a big truck went through Dallas. BTW, my granddaughter in Washington, DC said "so that was an earthquake?" I thought she meant THERE not here!

If I'm not mistaken, it can be. And it's super expensive. -

I knew there was a reason I liked you! Excellent post. Excellent! -
My daughter is used to seeing police cars and fire trucks go tearing by the house since they live on Humphries Hill inside the city. She's even used to seeing several go by, flying, at a time. She says that when she starts hearing helicopters, she starts to worry. She knew it had to be a bad accident, a meth lab blowing up or something major. I just hope and pray everyone is OK. That car was destroyed.

Actually, health insurance purchased by an individual, is rated for where you live. When I applied, I put in my zip code and it asked if I was in 30127 in Cobb, Paulding or Douglas. There's a 30127 in Douglas??? Who knew? I don't want the government underwriting any of my insurance. What happens if they fail? Granted, it's not likely but another monumental disaster like Katrina, and that could send this government over the edge. -
It might take larger traps to catch them. And they might not be mice but rats. A small animal trap would work good for that. BTDT.

One of them was black. Don't know if it was the Saturn or the VW. From the pictures taken from the chopper and the damage, you couldn't tell the model. I *think* it might have been a Saturn. Looked bigger than most VWs. Totally demolished. Sends chills up and down my spine just looking at the picture. Hoping and praying that everyone will be OK. To survive that would be nothing short of a miracle. My daughter said she saw a wrecker go by with a car but she didn't say what kind or color. That was a good while before the second car was hauled away. I finished talking to her befor

not to be rude but to give a serious answer, the power company should be able to tell you how long it will be out. If it's a widespread outage, it should be on their automated system with a projected time for it to be back online. If it's just his neighborhood or his house, someone needs to notify the power company.

started South Beach diet today so we're having turkey meatloaf, summer squash with onions and edamame. Never had edamame before so this will be a new experience for us.
