  1. Everything I'm reading on this - the government web sites, the TSA sites & the news - are saying that the Muslim women - or ANY faith - with head dress coverings - are only being "secondary screened" and patted down around their head/neck area - where they are covered by the garment. So, that's singling out people for us to hate? WOW that's a stretch. Since terrorist have used pregnant women & small children to carry bombs - I don't think patting down around a covered head/neck area is asking too much. Heck, I wear a knee brace. Flying in and out of Dulles & Regan Airports, the
  2. And to keep me from doing what I know I have to do.... And to keep up with what's going on around Paulding.
  3. Darn it....meant to watch this one. I never really watched Oprah, but, with this farewell season, she's doing some incredible interviews & I've watched several. Sorry I missed this one.
  4. Not taxing in San Fran - banning is more like it - this passed recently. My link The Chronicle summarizes the measure: Under the proposal, restaurants would be barred from giving away the popular toys unless the meals contain fewer than 600 calories and fewer than 640 milligrams of sodium. In addition, no more than 34 percent of the calories could be derived from fat (less than 10 percent from saturated fat), except for fat found in nuts, seeds, eggs or low-fat cheese. In terms of beverages, fewer than 35 percent of the total calories could come from fat, and fewer than 10 perc
  5. My 13 year old just decided he wanted texting ability. Up until now, he rarely turned the phone on. Had it so that he could call me when he as at cross country or tennis practice in case anything changed or was cancelled. So, gave him the $5 200 text ability without realizing that included "INCOMING" texts. He'd sent 24 & received close to 200. Changed to unlimited on both our phones. He's sent 84 so far this billing cycle. I keep up with it. His phone is required to be at the "docking station" in the kitchen at 8:30 pm & is not allowed at the dinner table or in his room. He h
  6. Sometimes I peek into these threads - then ever so slowly & quietly back away laughing out loud
  7. A friends daughter has something like that only she eats the hair. She's been hospitalized for it in the past.
  8. Well, it's a more fashionable collar/leash when a woman needs to drag her man somewhere!
  9. I agree wholeheartedly. I do not wear dresses - at all - even to weddings & funerals - I wear very nice suits or semi formal slacks suits - just my thing. Mama always said neatness counts - we couldn't leave toys in the yard, where we lived was always neat & clean (our clothes were hand me downs from my cousins and, often, from our church after my dad died and she was on her own raising us), but they were STARCHED & ironed. Her thing was if you had pride in ownership & pride in your appearance, you could overcome anything. Now, back to the church thing. I love seei
  10. Yes.....I regularly attend and I don't own a dress, period!! I think most women do wear pants to church - especially when it's cold! But, even in summer, capri pants are the majority at our church.
  11. What do you think about this? An Atlanta radio show I was listening to this morning (on my way to a T2 playoff match) was talking about this and how we are "coddling" our kids and not letting them experience "the real world" so they don't know what to do when they go out and get turned down for a job & things. They talked about some team forfeiting because the other team was too good & about some 9 year old kid he couldn't pitch in the league because he pitched too well. What do you think? My link
  12. When I left J C Penney's tonight, they have fliers on their doors about adopting an "angel" and buying for them at the store.
  13. Been with Lockheed Credit Union most of my life. I never have to worry about what's the name of my bank today - lol. Hubbys business is with BB&T - has been for 10 years - loves it. I can't stand the "what name is on the building today" merry go round.
  14. I'm so sorry this happened to you. I do find that mothers will blame their childrens behavior on whatever "diagnosis" they have or, as I volunteer with kids a lot, blame it on the medications, adjustment to the medication, new meds, etc. While I KNOW there are true issues out there, too many kids - of all ages - are being given a free pass because they have "_________" (insert diagnosis). My husband says its simply lack of responsibility of the parent.
  15. I've had that happen before. I took the kid to the parents and asked them to please keep an eye on HER - yes, a precious little DIVA! The mom proceeded to cuss me out. I just looked at her, laughed and walked away.
  16. According to wsbtv.com, they're her kids & his fiance?? My link Joshua Wilson told investigators his fiancée and the boys’ mother, Tosha Jacobs, stopped paying rent and ran off with another boyfriend a few months ago, according to a police report.
  17. What is WRONG with people!! My link The children, ages 2, 4 and 6, were found locked in a bedroom with a 100-pound Rottweiler, Capt. Mark Cheatham said. The mattress was soaked with urine and feces, another mattress in the home was nothing more than a blanket covering springs, Cheatham told the AJC. "The children had old bite marks," Cheatham said. There was no food in the home and evidence that there had been a fire in the kitchen, Cheatham said.
  18. Met the man at one of the political "thingies" we've attended. I like him - a lot.
  19. In the beginning, I tried to say, well, she was young & got scared & ran, but, then when mom helped hide/fix the car KNOWING they were looking for it, she didn't turn herself in and then it came out that she was filling out applications to colleges to complete her education (she'd already graduated from somewhere) & wanted to be like a psychologist or something????? And, boy, did they change her looks from the girl who was arrested to the girl who appeared in court! Just wow. Nothing can bring back those people. Just sad, sad, sad. I want to know what Mom will get....sh
  20. Yeah....I no one I know voted for either of them.....go figure.
  21. More....we are on a cul de sac....last year, we didn't know it, but someone had put a sign at the corner of the last road that you can turn on and go on around the subdivision to make that turn and not come straight - so I had maybe 10 kids. The year before, probably 75 - 100. Last night, I (and a couple of other neighbors) made sure there was no sign so we had about 50 - 75. I still have too much candy!!!!
  22. Monds seems to be a good man......I'm tired of thinking I need to vote for the lesser of two evils. I voted for who I truly think is the best candidate - even though I know the two party system is too strong at this time for a Libertarian or Independent to win - I'm sick of both parties.
