I think meeting for coffee periodically would be fun.....I'd like to meet some of the people from pcom.....I only know a couple of people personally.

Slept at my company that first night - several of us girls took over my bosses office. Had been married for two years. No matter how my then hubby tried - he couldn't get to me. Then, a person driving too fast for conditions left the roadway, jumped the curb and slammed into my parked IN THE PARKING LOT OF MY COMPANY's parking lot!!! When we did get home, our best friends walked over - about 1/2 mile - they had no electricity and we had gas heat. They made a baby that week in our guest room. I gave her grief for years and still would if I saw her again!

The difference between Sleet and Freezing Rain

Cool, thanks....I'd never really thought of it...learned something! -
Since we've only had storms near this in 80 something, 93 and now, would be a waste.

Just counted 27 male cardinals in my dogwood tree!!! All feeders are covered with wrens, titmice, goldfinches. We've had a bluejay and a touhee (???) Every time the cardinals (male & female) swoop in for the feeders, others scatter. We've put food all over the deck & the back yard. Absolutely beautiful to watch!!

how many of you still have the old type phones
onekidmom replied to Lady Raider's topic in RECENT TOPICS
Yes, we have a corded phone.....I don't use the cordless or the cell phone when I talk to banks/doctors, etc......Had a neighbor who had something - not sure if it's a scanner or what - but was visiting one day not long after buying this house & overheard one of our neighbors talking on her phone. He SAYS he turns it off when he hears us on our phones, but, I don't trust that. We've just always kept one - it's an old "princess" from 100 years ago - I have no earthly why we kept it, but, I'm glad we did. -
We decided to go out thru the garage instead of the deck or front steps. They both (11 lb sheltie/54 lb catahoula) thought they were going for a ride. The little one ran on out, fell off of the driveway into a flower bed and FREAKED. She sorta looked like a drunk rabbit, but, she went on out and did her business - falling around as she went. The big one - the one who scares the bejeezus out of everyone - she walked out 3 feet, walked back in and sat down like you have GOT to be kidding me. She walked to the front door and woofed as if - let me out my usual way. So, we opened the door and

Per Nixle Deputies with the Paulding County Sheriff's Office have started reporting bridges that are iced over in the South Paulding area. The bridge on Hwy 92 at Tidwell Rd and Hwy 92 at Hunter Rd are both confirmed to have ice.

Representative Gabrielle Giffords (D) Arizona

Oh, don't go there....been reading this morning & the left blogs are already "disclaiming" this map saying it's not inflamatory because it doesn't have "crosshairs" nor use the damning text of reload. You know it's just going to be a kindergarten argument over semantics. And, through it all, every single person in America - regardless of race, political/religious affiliation, etc. - lost yesterday. The people of that small area the most. These last few years - since "Bush Stole the Election" - I understand more and more why I was taught by my grandfather to never discuss a mans income, -
And you're address is??? Do you have room for a couple more peeps? We know you won't be cold!

I'm so very sorry for your loss.......Thank you for your reminder to others to be safe.

EXCELLENT - For the very first time, I'm extremely happy to be a topic killer (as I was the last post for a while now)!!! Not that we should forget this tragedy, simply that we weren't getting anywhere! -
It's late...I shouldn't post this.... We were in Asheville over Christmas.....beautiful, powdered SNOW!! Lot's of dogs are walked on the streets of Asheville.....All of a sudden, on our way to dinner - throwing handsful of snow at each other - my 13 year old son exclaims - MOM, There Really IS Yellow Snow!! near a telephone pole that a dog (and it's person) had just passed. Several people in the near vicinity - who already KNEW we were tourists - cracked up!

Do the comedians count in this, too? Let's not forget every time you turn around, Kathy Griffin & her bedazzled parts & Joy Behar are top stories for what they're saying. And, they're vicious. The "funnymen" - Letterman/Leno/Stewart/Colbert, etc. - that used to be fun to watch, now take themselves so seriously & believe they speak for the people. To the point of making even Brian Williams uncomfortable. My link But, we the people, we're perpetuating the problem. If they didn't have an audience..... I dread what the next few days will be like. It's not going to b -

As the right wing blogs are doing the same - it's not just the media/talking heads - the elected officials are doing the same thing. It must stop. This thread is doing the same thing. It's the epitome of stupidity. We've divided into factions - heels dug in, not giving. In our homes, we have to practice compromise to have a healthy home. We all need to get back to finding what we have in common instead of highlighting the differences. Agree to disagree and move on. To me there is no doubt this is politically motivated. My feeling after watching his videos/reading his posts - she w -
LOL....wonder if that was my friend....she said she had to go to WalMart to pick up her weekly supply of milk because the grocery store was out......she has 7 kids - 2 of them 2 year old twins.....I don't think she gets 12 gallons.....I think it's 6 or 8 gallons a week....that was all she bought at WalMart

My link Since this movie came out in 2006 & this is 2011 - I don't think it's being widely screened. There are extremists in every political & religious affiliation. Jesus Camp debuted at the 2006 Tribeca Film Festival, and was sold by A&E Indie Films to Magnolia Pictures. Several television news programs and print media articles discussed the controversy surrounding the film in 2006. On January 23, 2007, Jesus Camp was nominated for the 2006 seventy-ninth Annual Academy Award (Oscar) for Best Documentary Feature.[3] It lost to Davis Guggenheim and Al Gore's An Inc

We were low on milk....only milk....just got back from the grocery. It is a MADHOUSE. Come on...do people not buy groceries unless someone says the dreaded "S" word? They were out of several things - bananas, chicken breast, etc. - putting out signs that they were expecting a truck tomorrow. I did get milk, but, the manager was in the cooler restocking from all that he had, which was low.
