  1. Maybe this year it could be because stores are matching prices on many more things and some of the stores are opening Thanksgiving day and/or starting their sales early....
  2. It doesn't do it automatically......they have to do it.
  3. Makes me remember back to around 1990 - I was asst mgr in a tech support dept. Receptionist for our dept called into human resources saying her grandmother had passed. I'd heard that her grandmother had been in the hospital so I asked human resources to find out the funeral details so I could have flowers sent from our dept. A few minutes later, the person I'd asked to make the call came and said the receptionists dad wanted to speak with me - his mother was alive & well - and that it had been upsetting to him to receive a call asking for arrangements. I told him his daughter had calle
  4. So...are you taking bets? If she doesn't, you win a spa certificate and/or you take the week off? If she shows up, hmmmm, hubs fires her? LOL Just kidding. Hopefully, she's not on pcom - lol! Let us know if she shows!
  5. WHOA!! Girlfriend!! That's some detail! I guess my issue with this kinda stuff is that when I first "created" a facebook account, I didn't see the need to "privatize" everything - UNTIL - an old guy from high school who I NEVER had a thing to do with started sorta stalking me & one of his comments after I'd refused to "reconnect" with him was that he'd be looking for me where I'd posted I walked my dog regularly. Scared the BEJEEZUS outta me. Now, my facebook is like fort knox.....my family complains that I shouldn't even have one because I dont "share" enough.
  6. Hurry up when you get it! I'm currently 109 in the queue.
  7. Started this one last night - picked it up from the library Saturday - ended up reading 1/2 the night. I always read the "Reacher" books too darn fast!!! Let's do it!
  8. Here's what the kids use that I see on my facebook when they "check in" My link
  9. Maybe I should just have everyone over here - tv in the family room, pool & foos ball in the basement, basketball goal. Decent food (I LOVE to cook & Thanksgiving/Christmas, but hate it the rest of the year!)
  10. Have some younger friends who do that....I don't want people knowing where I am all the time! On another note, my resume is ready - I'm biting at the bit to get back into the work force - I'll take her job!
  11. Ruth's Cris over in Kennesaw advertised they were open....don't know any more than that. Some friends are going to the South City Kitchen in Smyrna. It'll just be the 3 of us here, but, I'm cooking a big meal.
  12. EXCELLENT!! I think you "Dodged" enough issues to earn a new car! LOVE IT!
  13. 6 year old Honda Pilot just rolled 120,000....no problems other than replacing headlight bulbs & 1 sensor.
  14. I know that they contradict each other....You are completely missing my point. But, honestly, I don't care as you don't care what I think. That's the beauty of this here "southern message board".
  15. Not gonna argue with you since you know so much more about business than I do. Just going along with what is being reported - some from GMs own website - about where the cars are actually manufactured. And, there WAS planning in the works to import GM cars manufactured in China to seel in the US. Yes, I am actually intelligent enough to read - go figure. And, I do not read only the media here in the US as a general rule. After reading the book - The World is Flat: A Brief History of the 21st Century - along with the help of a little technology - I try to keep a worldview of what's happenin
  16. Wasn't twisted. Country of "origin" is still America. I've heard all day the quote of GM being an "iconic American company". In this day and time, the majority of huge companies - like GM - can not claim to be any "one" country. GM actually sells more vehicles in China. They, as do many major corporations, have plants/offices on several other continents. I am not a GM basher. My dad will only drive a Chevy truck. He's been my "dad" for 36 years now & has only owned two non "Chevy truck" (heavy on the CH sound not the SH sound) and they were both GMC's. Hardy Chevrolet knows he'll
  17. Well, technically, we can no longer call GM an "iconic American company". My link SAIC Motor Corp has spent $500m to buy a little less than 1 per cent share in General Motors’ initial public offering, underlining the increasingly strong ties between the US carmaker and China’s most powerful state-owned auto company. Sources close to the deal said the nominal SAIC stake was largely “symbolic”, and is not expected to provoke any public backlash against Chinese ownership in such an iconic US company. Political sensitivities are likely to have discouraged SAIC from taking a larger stak
  18. Nancy Grace makes me nuts - it didn't "wash up". "The bone fragment has been received by the Netherlands Forensic Institute. Officials for the Dutch institute have stated that they are prepared to begin DNA testing on the bone as soon as approval is received. They will then compare and contrast the test results to the DNA profile of Holloway to determine if it is a match. According to a Dutch newspaper named de Telegraaf, the bone was discovered on a beach in Aruba on Friday, Nov. 12, 2010 by tourists. The bone is believed to be a mandible, or the lower half of a human jawbone. The n
  19. I hate to sound so morbid, but, is there any talk about searching the pond at LMP?? Many people walk around the pond area. I sure hope he is found soon.
  20. It does....it really does. I'm sorry you've gone thru all this. Sounds like she may be my MIL's sister. I've accepted that, but, the deal with my family now - why do people who are supposed to love each other the most do the most damage to each other? Someone said I was the glue that had held us together. It's time to unglue.
  21. Because of our dysfunctional situation - I've began to take a sorta unofficial poll by asking what everyone is doing for Thanksgiving. After today, I do feel better about our situation. Seems as if there is a lot of things going on amongst families and many aren't getting together. I hate it that I'm actually contemplating not attending at my moms. But, it's a healthy decision mentally!
  22. We'll run the Gobble Jog, then come home, eat & watch tv. Cooking turkey, sweet potato casserole, green bean casserole, deviled eggs, cream corn & other stuff. This will be the second Thanksgiving that we are not getting together with my husbands mother/father - THANK HEAVENS!! And, my husband is on board with that - it was actually his decision because he's tired of his mom's crap, too. (I've written alot about her on here). My family usually gets together Sunday before and this year I'm torn about that, too. Thinking we'll just head on down to Callaway for Fantasy in Lights &am
  23. I know it sounds crazy, but, have you ever tried American Eagles perfume "True"? Very light/fresh. A friends daughter sprayed me with it in the store one day & I ended up buying it I liked it so much. I've had a ton of compliments when wearing it...
  24. I'd had this emailed to me....along with the link for the following: CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas (AP) — Driscoll Middle School’s “penalty play” has become an Internet sensation. Quarterback Jason Garza pulled off the ingenious trick play in Saturday’s city championship game that’s triggered a frenzy of national media attention. The video has generated more than 3.5 million hits on YouTube and a barrage of calls to the tiny school, enrollment 610, and to Jacqueline Ortiz, Garza’s mother. “It’s been wild,” she said in a phone interview Tuesday. “Absolutely crazy.” Coach
