  1. ACK!!!!! That glowing review just completely ruined me on the place. Oh that's right, I wouldn't step foot in that place if they replaced the water with Purell and Lysol. But any way....EWWWWWWWW!
  2. I found out about my FIL dying before we received the call. My niece put it out on FB before ANY calls could be made. That's not right AT ALL. I think people should wait a bit before notifying via social media. Why not do something similar to the way the military does it so that next of kin and close family can be notified first. I would have that was common sense but apparently it is not so common anymore.
  3. This is one of the many reasons we are re-setting our life and it's priorities. Some people might think moving out of the country is a little extreme, but it's just part of what we want for our life. I just sold almost everything we own last weekend and it felt so freeing to let go of all of our "things". The more "things" a person owns, the more problems come with it. Social media, texts, emails, voicemails, etc are similar. The more you have, the more problems arise. While I can completely understand the benefit of knowing your neighbors; sometimes it becomes just too much.
  4. Ours went up a bit...but taxes seem to be slightly down. Not going to complain though because the tax amount is less than a few months of car insurance. We have no mortgage and an INCREDIBLE tenant in the house so I cannot and would not ever fuss about that.
  5. I assumed it's name was "Easter" since that's what it is written on the plastic bin. "Easter" seems appropriate especially if it's an "Eastern King Snake" which it appears to me to be as well. Glad you adopted a very useful snake. Hope Easter catches and eats many vermin for you.
  6. Thanks! We just stopped by and WOW, tons of people Hope tomorrow is just as good!
  7. All my belongings are priced and ready to be sold at 10 this morning! I'm excited but I do have to admit it feels a little strange today,
  8. Whoa, I've been meaning to leave a review on the new "Crossroads Grille" but my life is in a bit of a turmoil. So here it goes.... My husband and I have been living without internet for a week so we've been stopping at restaurants with WiFi and a bar with good atmosphere to pass our evening meals. We stopped into Crossroads Grille purely by accident. Husband wanted to have an appetizer and I wanted to EAT. OMG, we wandered into the perfect place for EATING GOOD food!!! We sat at the bar (never having eaten at this place prior). I love Greek Food so I was ecstatic to see they had t
  9. Definitely! A new life means new furniture. Heck, all I have now is a wonderful husband, two confused cats, and 12 suitcases. And I couldn't be happier.
  10. I juice everyday but not as a fast, just as a supplement. Make sure to shoot for at the very least 60% veggies, 40% fruits. Fruit has a ton of natural sugars that aren't the best in large quantities. I do about 80/20 but I've been juicing for two years now so I can handle just about anything. A whole lemon can cut the taste of something with too much greens. Ginger root (I use about an inch) also makes certain things more tolerable. And of course one small apple will sweeten it a bit as well. But basically it's all trial and error. The one thing I learned is terrible is an unpeeled oran
  11. The estate sale is Friday and Saturday (June 7th and 8th). 10-4pm and they start handing out numbers at 8am if you want to be some of the first in. The address and times, etc are listed on the link above. Hope you can make it!
  12. BEST.ADVICE. EVER. That place is a cesspool of dirty old American men trolling for young prostitutes. They are building a "Hotel Del Rey" there so it's only going to be worse. Ick.
  13. China has bought just about every country on this planet. There's nothing new to that. Look around the US and see what we have allowed China to do.
  14. Yes. We've been going there for years and have finally decided to become legal residents. It's not for everyone. We fell in love immediately. I love the pace of life, the love of family and fellow human beings, the Tico's are such kind and helpful people. Of course the country is beautiful. But it's not for everyone. It's not nearly as cheap as the Yahoo articles tout, the government can be a pain, and being a temporary resident has some drawbacks (can't work for three years, have to prove income, etc). But it feels like home to us. We will be living more like a Tico than an Americ
  15. I wouldn't say "live like a King and Queen" on very little. Some things in Costa Rica are cheaper but other things are much more expensive. It's kind of a wash but the medical, dental, and absolute beauty of the country and the extraordinary people make up for everything. We will be residents of Costa Rica in a few weeks.
  16. No thanks. The comments under the story give a more accurate description of Phuket.
  17. Hubby and I are moving out of the country. We are taking the leap but need to sell all of our items in order to close on our house on Monday. So PLEASE PLEASE attend our Estate Sale this Friday and Saturday. Here's a link with pictures, descriptions, and the address. http://www.estatesales.net/estate-sales/439119.aspx run by A Class Act Estate Sales Hope you can make it!
  18. I believe it. I received a full price offer (at a substantial profit) on my home in 10 days of it being on the market. We had at least 4 showings per day. I've also heard of many others experiencing the same as mine. I hope it holds true for everyone else in the area.
  19. They are on Facebook. There does appear to be a connection the the diner.
  20. We always use Preflight Parking off Camp Creek. If you prepay your parking, it is as low as $5 a day (with a Saturday stay). You also receive a free day of parking after 5 when you join their free "Frequent Parker" program. It is very safe and one of the closest to the Domestic terminal.
  21. I've never "celebrated" Memorial Day. Kind of an oxymoron isn't it? But I will remember those special to me, my friends, and loved ones who have passed on while fighting for the US. My husband and I have chosen to leave the US and become residents elsewhere. Even so, we will always remember those who passed before us and will honor their lives no matter where we are.
  22. I just lost braincells reading this topic. I only wish such ignorant people would be forced to walk around with their idiotic quotes on their shirts so I knew who to avoid. Stupid is as stupid does. Moving on to better things....
  23. Yep, I have a Macbook Pro but have a Roku device. So we end up using my husbands laptop with a cable for live tv. They sell Apple tv's here in Costa Rica so I might pick one up to try it out. I think the price is about the same as in the US. I'm a newer Mac user so I'm still re-programming my PC brain.
  24. If you don't have a large monitor, you'll need to connect your laptop to tv via a VGA (RGB) cable.
