All states (and some of their counties) have some unique holidays. I remember specifically "Casimir Pulaski Day" when I lived in Illinois and "Evacuation Day" and "Bunker Hill Day" when I lived in Massachusetts.

I tell my husband every day and every night that I love him. I didn't always have that opportunity so I relish in it now. Now the both of us are following our dreams and moving to Central America. I hate to say it but this happens everyday to our servicemen and women overseas. It also happens to innocent civilians everyday around the world. We are just spoiled that it doesn't happen in the US very often and when it does, we never see the gruesome photos. We have a false sense of security. Most Americans think we are immune to it, even post 9-11 It's an effed up world that we live in.

A dear, dear, dear friend of mine finished 5 minutes before the explosions...right as my flight landed in Boston. My heart absolutely goes out to everyone in the area. Life is fleeting and some people are assholes.
