  1. Just guessing, but maybe it's one of the many gov't jobs posted looking for an engineer to work for $10/hr? I have seen hordes of county and city jobs out there just like that....who will pay you the equivalent of your UE check. It's absolutely amazing to see this. One job in particular paid $11/hr. for an engineering job that required a bachelor's degree in engineering and required the applicant to know everything that the construction guys do, and would be required to do that, as well...in the field. BTW, the average PE fee is $200/hr. in the REAL world. That's just insulting, if you ask
  2. Thank yall. I just wish business would pick up. It's been a SLOWWWW week!! I should have went fishing all week!
  3. I still have these available. No idea why they haven't sold because they're BOTH nice mowers, and priced right.
  4. That's what I figured, because it's nowhere on the new bill.
  5. Thank you both, very much!! Yesterday was slow, so we knocked off and went fishing in the afternoon-to-evening time. I guess the fish took that day off too! Wwe caught a few, but not what I'm used to pulling in. I think this wacky weather threw them off, and the water was a bit muddy.
  6. Sorry about your back. But glad to hear it's running good! Thank you for the business.
  7. They are expensive for sure. I rebuild them, as long as you are SURE it's the starter and not something else. Does it spin when you shoot power to it? Does it just need a new gear head assy.? etc.
  8. Amen!!! You said a mouthful right there. The only way to get America back on track is to basically start over....offer better service, better quality, etc. While the economy still sucks, and will for quite some time to come, the only way we can get back on track is by starting our own businesses, drop the inflated pricing, and put HIGH tariffs on imported CRAP coming from China. Pretty simple solution, but we need a leader who has the balls to push this through.
  9. Going on FOUR (4) years for me. But, by now, I don't really consider myself unemployed- just struggling to get my own business off the ground. Jobs are SCARCE!!

So which one are you blaming? I'm confused....sounds like both. One for gathering the oil up for us, and the other by his economic policies. Just asking?
  11. Good for you!!! I mean, hey...people can ignore this and I can rebuild their carbs EVERY YEAR. But, I think part of GOOD business is to offer GOOD advice to help people out. I certainly need all the business I can get, but I would rather it be something that needs fixing, not based on this particular problem.....which is probably 70% of what I have to fix on a daily basis. How's your JD cutting now??? All good??
  12. Folks, the ethanol in the gas is RISING, and creating more and more problems, so please take note of what I am going to tell you, and you folks won't have so much trouble with your equipment. 1. I don't mean to insult anyone's intelligence here, but ALL 2-stroke (99%) Weed Eaters, Blower, etc. require that you mix OIL with the GAS. While most men know this, I have had a few women bring in some almost brand new weed eaters, and we have noticed there was NO OIL mixed in with the gas. Running 2-stroke engine on gas without oil, will ruin the piston rings QUICK!!! This means your new machine i
  13. Thank you folks!! You don't know how much appreciate your business, and I promise to always to you right!
  14. You might wanna stay clear of my sub then...we aint running, but we're working and sweating in the heat out in the driveway/garage. Well, we DO have that one guy....(the kind of people who should NEVER be allowed on a nude beach, if you know what I mean. )
  15. Hi folks. I still have TWO nice riding mowers for sale, over here. A nice Murray for $400 and a rock solid Craftsman for $600. Tired of pushing that old mower around?

    Gas prices

World economy says it all. America will stay in the tar pits until we do something about global trade. Like what?? Like putting HUGE tariffs on imported goods (I use the words "goods" very loosely). Not to start an argument, but can you name ONE thing that WE (the USA produces that is in higher demand than any other country?) The only thing I can think of is how much other countries pay us to keep track of their satellites, via NORAD, and of course, the DEA bringing in its share via taking the toll/bribery money from the cartels to traffic drugs into the country. America is capable is
  19. I understand your plight, but you said it yourself....people are RENTING these days. And you and I both know that people who rent don't care about anything but paying the rent...if that. We are stuck with this, and you can fight it all day long, but it will not go away, no matter how hard you try to stop it. It's a hard pill to swallow, but no one has a say in this anymore. The only thing left to do is to go knock on the door of the trashy neighbor and tell them face-to-face.....clean your crap up. That's about the only thing that MIGHT work.
  20. In some cases, yes. In some OTHER cases, i have kept my friends alive by lending them money, and they have done the same for me. So, it's not so much a "friend" thing as it is an integrity thing. When I lend a FRIEND money, I look at it as a "gift" for them. As long as I don't expect anything back, then everything is fine. I have "given" money to friends in need back in my hey-day when I was making lots of money. Those who never paid me back, I made it clear to them- "you owe me nothing". That's the difference between business with strangers and true friends. A friend should never "loan" money
  21. There was a time when an HOA protected the value of your home, yes. Those days are over, and will be over for many years to come. Virtually every house purchased 5 years ago is only worth HALF of what it cost at that time. So, now there is really no point to it. Some people try to tell me that the market on housing will pick up soon....well, I hate to say it, but that is NOT going to happen for probably at least 5-10 years form now. The market continues to plunge, in spite of all the "positive hoopla" that abounds. I'm no rocket scientist, but I have been in housing development for over 25 yea
  22. HOA's suck. Reminds me of Third Reich crap, IMO. Nuff said. And it's the owner's fault, not yours.
  23. She lost $300.....she did NOT lose a friend. Friends don't do that. She simply filtered her life a little better from the scum that surrounds us all.
  24. I love that statement!!! To the OP- you did not lose anything...you found out something about someone, and you no doubt learned a lesson. I remember a destitute woman (who I did not know....she found me on pcom) and wanted to borrow battery for her daughter's car until she could buy one for her, then return mine. That was approx. 3 years ago. Never heard back from her...never got my $70 battery back either. Perhaps she needed it more than I did, but it doesn't excuse her ripping me off. Nonetheless, there are so many bigger fish to fry. I had one guy who "acted" as if he and I were friends onl
