    Gas prices

It's useless to blame ANY president for gas prices, since they have nothing to do with it. But folks, let's face it. We were told way back in the mid 70's to "cut down" on unnecessary driving, only to find us driving larger gas guzzling vehicles. The ONLY way to get Americans to cut down on gas consumption is to raise the prices, and use the revenue for mass transit. If the Fed's could figure out a way to up the prices for consumers, but give commercial transporters (i.e. trucks that haul goods to the stores, etc.) a break by exempting them ONLY, then this country would be a better ran place.
  2. Actually we found pieces of the jug gasket inside the engine. I had my trainee tear it all the way down, so you'll be getting a virtually NEW blower back when we're done. Should run a LOT better than it did too...since you were losing compression from the blown gasket.
  3. Thank ya! BTW, your blower was a MESS!!! I'm still working on it, just about got it ready.
  4. I went on a mower repair house call today. The gentleman just bought a NEW riding mower in March, only used it once and one of the blades just fell off!! Also noticed his deck height lever was also broken. I'm tellin' ya folks.....it's not just mowers, it's a little bit of EVERYTHING. Too many companies got into that BAD idea of laying off older, higher paid, EXPERIENCED workers, in favor of hiring young'ns outa school. The result? SHODDY work!! And quality control is clear out the window. BTW, I'm not slamming new guys or gals learning a trade. I train a young man every year, but there S

    Gas prices

I guess I missed it then. I just got back from filling up my 5 gallon gas can....$3.99 a gallon. Thank goodness it was just my gas can. I'm driving my truck on fumes, in hopes it will come down though.
  6. Thank you, buddy. I appreciate the business, and like I try to tell people on here, BEWARE of this new junk on the market. Next time I'm over that way, B's Dad, I may stop in and try to fix that deck lever for you. Just give me a call if you need anything else. Subby
  7. I fully agree with that!! My work truck is a Ford, and it's tough as nails!
  8. Not sure I follow this, and am quite sure this would be out-dated.... but I just got back from taking my daughter and her friends there. The food was delicious!! And I'm still a teen at heart, so I enjoyed every minute. (the one on Ridge Road).
  9. Let's look at this from a common sense perspective- Dodge trucks are BEAUTIFUL!!! No doubt. But....they come with a few design flaws, and they are not built as tough as Chevy's and most of all Ford's. Here's a hint....look at all the COMPANY trucks you see....FORD rules the roost. Today's Ford trucks are the toughest trucks you can find. They are literally "overbuilt" to handle all the hell you can give them. A Dodge truck is great as long as you don't use it to haul things, trailers, etc. They drive like Cadillac's, but they also possess the same frailty as such.
  10. Well, if you guys ever decide to buy a new mower this year, I am here for you, if you want advice on what is good and what is going to be in the dumpster within 3-6 months. Consider it a public service.
  11. I've been there before...it sucks. I am fortunate to be living among some of the coolest, very talented and most intelligent people I have ever known. We just have fun!!! You're always welcome ot just come over here, and try a sample of my "hood"....we welcome people with open arms, as long as they know how to behave, if they're going to drink....if you know what I mean.
  12. I certainly don't need to drink to have a good time. And, yes, having some drinks don't make you more productive. However, when you work your ass off 7 days a week, for about 12-14 hours a day, it feels quite good to have a few brews and relax. In fact, I would say it even has benefits, since we all know that STRESS is one of the biggest killers in America. I know a lot of people who have their Valium and other things to calm them down and help them relax. Well, for me, personally, I just like to hang with the neighbors, have a few beers or a glass or two of wine and relax, and most of all
  13. I guess I'll do the same I do every weekend I don't have to play at the club....party with my neighbors. Plenty of music, bon fires, and fun galore....and it's all right here, so no driving required!!
  14. Here's a few more detailed things.... Bought TWO 1/2" impacts from Home Depot....both lasted less than 6 months. (Husky brand crap really sucks bad!) Mower batteries!! I have had to return about 50% of everyone I bought there (and I bought quite a few) I finally started buying the heavy duty batteries from Advance Auto for $32.06 a piece...NEVER had to return a single one. Countless tools, like channel locks, and other pliers...all of them were junk. And if you saw my thread on doing a $30 "fix" on Nikki carburetors....well, they are putting them on almost all the new mowers--
  15. I've had several good ones over the years, but the new stuff on the market is unbelievably cheap today, unless you cough up several hundred dollars for something nice, like a Honda. I hesitate to say much about Troybilts and other "knock-off's" of what USED to be good solid mowers. I've got one of the older model Murray Riding mowers, and it runs and cuts better than almost anything else I've used. My favorite push mower was custom built, and I love it. No primer bulbs, no safety bar, etc. Just a nice 6.5 HP Briggs engine from a pressure washer placed atop a thick mill steel mulching deck.
  16. While I have read every reason under the sun about this, it still remains a SIMPLE point. No Sunday sales are based SOLELY on religious people voting in such a manner. Most folks here know that I play in night clubs. I sometimes play Sunday evening gigs, and there's not a single one I can remember when a small handful of drunks are there because they were too damned drunk to remember to buy enough booze for Sunday. I have taken MANY of them home, but I can't take them all home. I go out of my way for these people, call them a cab, etc. But it is IN YOUR FACE FACT, that these drunks would b
  17. Pretty much EVERYTHING I bought from Home Depot was a POS. I stopped dealing with them, period. Having said that, I am seeing some really crappy outdoor equipment designs coming in to the shop...mostly leaf blowers. Owners say they wouldn't crank when they got them home, took them back time and again, and they still never worked. I have a back yard full of these brand new "paperweights". It's ridiculous.
  18. I doubt DUI's would go up either. I kinda figured they may go down, because I know certain people who will drive to and from places that serve alcohol on Sundays.. Many of them got their DUI's on Sundays. At least now, they can go pick up their beer, then head HOME to drink it. Just my 2 cents based on what I have seen over my years.
  19. I'm in Hiram, and P.S's is a 5 min. drive from me, as well as D'ville. It's all the same to me. People who live in NORTH P.C. are a LONG ways from me. So, you see, it's pretty much a relative thing, depending on which side if the county you are in.
  20. Simple business minded people (like the man who runs this site) would understand that even "trying" to make this a P.C. only forum is not only futile, but a waste of time, while sending out a negative vibe. Further, to isolate ANY forum to remain in one single county, is ludicrous. Simply put- this is the internet, and it's open to everyone, globally. To even try to edit out transients, would make the site look arrogant, unfriendly, short-sighted, and just plain mean. Pcom remains largely our local population. With that many locals, who would care to even bother to make this some sort of "
  21. I have struggled with whether or not to share this knowledge, but I have decided to, since mostly only the mechanically inclined guy can save himself some money.....Plus, this is the equivalent of what would be a RECALL on any automobile. If your rider is a single cylinder engine, check the carb and see if it says "Nikki". These carbs are cheap as crap, and are more than 70% prone to have (or quickly develop) a sticking choke. When you choke your engine to start it, then back off the throttle, and it still runs like it's choked, you probably have a Nikki. I have a quick fix for this proble
  22. Me neither....???? The only part of 61 I can see that could use 4 lanes, is to add an "opening" on 61, just before Hwy 278. Only thing....that would require building a new bridge over the Silver Comet Trail. While I don't see a 4-lane as being needed right now, putting in more turning lanes for left hand turns on certain busy locations, would be a great idea...and not that hard to pull off. Being from Marietta, I remember when they made Powder Springs Road a 4 lane after you got into the BellMeade area on up to the square of Marietta. 61's traffic is pale in comparison, IMO. But I
  23. Do tell??? I did not know that....I thought an attic fan or anything to flow the hot air from the attic would help with cooling the rest of the house. Please, explain, because I want to get the most out of my AC. (thanks BTW )
  24. I can relate!!! Congrats to you and your daughter. Feels great, don't it?? I mean, your kids are what's left of YOU. It's great knowing they're doing as good or better than we did at that age.....eeeuuwww!!! Don't even wanna bring that up! Send my "thumbs-up" and kudo's to her, would ya? Thanks.
