  1. Absolutely. That remains the crux of my business. I mean bigger accounts and good money is fine, but my love for this work still remains the same- personalized service within my local area. I have revamped the business in the past two weeks. I have NO HELPERS, just me. I have not been happy at all relying on other people to help me do this kind of work. If it means keeping it small and simple, then so be it. I simply cannot trust anyone else to do things the way I do them. I am a stickler for perfection, and it's those small oversights that can ruin a reputation fast. I've had to deal with thi
  2. It's kinda funny...I've had a couple of people, including my family looking at me funny, and asking, "what kind of drugs are you on?? I need some of whatever it is!!". I am a little worn out from keeping up with so much, but it's a "good" kind of worn out.
  3. The project band with Lynyrd Skynrd fell through. Bob has some fairly serious medical problems and won't be able to pull off a life on the road. I am however, working with the band that's been playing with him. We are going to take all of this talent and make our OWN original album and try to sell it to a major label. The bassist has a myriad of excellent songs (the lyrics) and I'll be handling much of the arrangements, along with the leaf guitarist who's also quite good with arranging material. Of course, this is something that will take time to produce. Meanwhile, I'm getting offers to m
  4. You are very welcome! It was a pleasure meeting you too.
  5. Mower repairs, tillers, most 2-cycle power equipment. Many jobs can be handled at your residence. For more major repairs, pick-up and delivery is available for a lot less than you would think. I can do the job right the first time, and quicker than what you'd expect. Quality and honesty. That's what you'll get with me, along with the satisfaction of having your equipment repaired by a qualified professional with over 35 years experience. My operation has undergone some changes in the past week to make things better than ever before! Please visit my website for all the information you'll
  6. Yeah...the yellow stuff is much better. My friend is a plumber and he swears by it. I shut the regulator off last night to see if it would kick on. It's been almost a day now, and she's still holding tight and on the mark. And I was SO CLOSE to buying one from a guy for $100. I still would like to have a nice 220V 2-stage, but it's too late in the season to worry about that now.
  7. Not at all...there's only a 2-3 mm section of that hose that's exposed outside of metal line. It's nowhere close enough to expand and throw off the sensor line. (The rubber hose connection is connecting the SUPPLY line from the pump to the tank, not the side, draft line that runs from tank to regulator.) I've used it all evening, and it's been perfect, shutting down at around 115-120 psi like the older one did. It's still the same regulator, line diameter, etc. Just filling the same LARGE tank with a smaller pump and motor. I have used Teflon tape for years, and I still get some leakage. I sta
  8. My large air compressor went out a couple of weeks or so ago, then my small pancake followed it with a leaking tank. Most people know I'm basically a poor dude. So, I took the smaller motor and pump unit off the pancake and mounted it atop the larger compressor. I found out a few things along the way too...since the pancake unit would only sit one way on the larger tank, the fittings were facing away from each other. So, I went to the local auto parts store and bought a 4' metal line- the kind that runs automatic transmission fluid from radiator to trans. Changing the fittings were easy enough
  9. If memory serves, I think honkinonbobo was the first one I met in person.
  10. I sometimes think I may be one of the few people left in this world who has better things to do than to personally judge someone (who I admire, but in reality "know" no more than the man on the moon. After reading some canned, and predictable responses I can only hope that such people to make such arbitrary judgement calls on people they do not know in any way personally would someday see the folly in their efforts to make this world a better place to live in. I"m only 48 years old, but I often feel like I should be much older, having learned to voice comments on things that really matter TO M
  11. Being fairly new to business ownership, I can tell you this...my supervisor, no matter what mood he was in that day, is a lot easier than dealing with me new boss- the PUBLIC. I'm lucky enough to be the kind of person who loves dealing with different people every day, but some customers can be rather troublesome. I guess the best thing is that I still reserve the right to send them on their way if they become belligerent and unable to satisfy. Some people, sad as it is to say, spend much of their lives seeking conflict, by constantly griping and harboring an insatiable appetite for something t
  12. I miss that. When everything was collapsing, the last two jobs I managed to get were just me and a P.E. Very quiet, low stress jobs..I loved em!! Brings back memories like this.......... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1F9vRVyV914
  13. If you can actually find another job you like better, then by all means, go for it. Most people I hear from lately are wanting ANY job they can find. If you have more than one option, you're doing VERY WELL in this economy. And on average, pay SUCKS with almost any job. Most people who found jobs doing what I did all my life are lucky to find them, but they are also working for half or less than they did before everything went to hell.
  14. That made me giggle. My dad now calls only one thing (dinner) and they have it around 3-4 p.m. He only eats one meal a day (a big meal) other than a banana smothered in mayonaise for breakfast (11 a.m.) It's just interesting to me how his eating habits and other things have changed so much with his age.
  15. I'm honored and humbled that you'd say something so nice and warm. I wouldn't be quite so positive without my pcom pals and gals, ya know!
  16. I certainly appreciate your prayers! I'm still a LONG way from being caught up, and I doubt I'll ever achieve the same finacial status I once enjoyed, but I did come to cherish a lot of other things in life that had eluded me, prior to losing my career. I've learned not to be bitter about it anymore too, as that just makes things worse. As Joe Dirt said, "Life's a garden, DIG IT!". I still have my health, and I love working hard and sweating for what I do earn. I have a great family, great kids, even a loving and caring ex-wife who's more interested in making sure our kids together have

    Car repair

Thanks! I know Steven is....not so sure about that Subby guy though. He sorta creeps me out, and from what I heard, he's been known to associate with posters like yourself on this board!! (we'll do the finger-pulling later)
  19. When I married my 2nd wife (flyonthewall), she was very savvy....she looked on craigslist, found a great deal but the size was too large. Then she did the same to find a retired tailer in D'ville who still free-lanced. In teh end, she got a dress that was AWESOME...normally $1500, she paid around $350. All brides wanna look good...point is, you can do it without anyone knowing you saved around a thousand dollars because you were 'thrifty"....not cheap, just thrifty. Web searching saves a lot of money if you're half way decent at it.

    Car repair

I'm quite fond of the guy, and we've done business over the years together. While I think he's no longer in that gig, I wasn't 100% sure, so I left it alone. Fairliy sure he's not doing that though, these days. (Sure was da bomb when he was though!!) p.s...... JUST NOW SAW your post. So, great...it's good to hear he's still doing it. The best thing about J'boy is his honesty and integrity.....rare in the mechanic's theatre somtimes. Edited again to say...should I just repost this somewhat of a indeciduous post into one that is more current and summarizes the final conclusion as
  21. No, you are not alone. I have been on this site for about 8 years, maybe more (whatever member #40 comes out to be). I've found friends and help on here all the while. Done been through two divorces (actually 3, but one was the original wife, if that makes sense) other hard times, very close financial ruin, and sometimes just in need of a friend. It's all here. The board aint what it used to be, but neither is any board this day and time. Pcom has its share of "panty-wadders" as I call them. But, hey, even that provides good entertainment when nothing is on TV, right?? Most of the folks I
  22. I usually eat around 9 or 10 because we work late hours. But this evening I'm meeting my girl in Austell for dinner, so it's gonna be an early 7:00 for me today.
  23. Yep. My supervisor made lots of deer jerky this way, so I know it works!
  24. I would concur with that! Man is basically akin to a virus, by all definitions, and then some additional nefarious traits, to boot.
