  1. I had a choice between floss and prayer. I can't do both.
  2. Since you seem intent on browbeating us here on P Com about not being "compassionate" enough, why don't you tell us what you have done to help the people of Haiti and let us judge you. Judge not lest ye be judged.
  3. Lets see, rescue teams, relief agencies, military, medical, engineering, construction, and on and on.... are right now heading to Haiti as quickly as humanly possible, and have been since the earthquake struck. People throughout the world are donating money supplies, equipment and time. The Red Cross is setting records for donations. How in the world can someone take away from this that nobody cares?
  4. He beats that drum everywhere he goes. I think that geologists as well as meteorologists, historians, physicists, and anthropologists would be amused by this particular allegation. Plate Tectonics may be the only thing to date not blamed on global warming. Unfortunately, many people will hear this inaccurate and irresponsible statement and believe it, because "anthropogenic global warming" is the devil of our time. At least until the research money and "green economy" political and financial scaffolding fall out from under the lie.
  5. A dent in your wallet does not make a dent in your heart.
  6. Add to that airlift capability, Military Police, the USS Comfort, The Corps of Engineers, and the other things that would normally fall to a government that no longer exists in Haiti. I am not against the US Government, in the name of the people of the United States, providing those services for a limited period of time until civilian groups can handle the problem. There are some humanitarian disasters that you just can't turn your back on when you have the ability to help. I would much rather spend my tax dollars on this than any proposal currently before the Congress.
  7. That is a fact. there is more to this story than meets the eye. She says that she didn't show up on time because she was "afraid" they would make her deploy. The spokesman for Hunter said in the OP article that this was not Army policy, they would not force a deployment on a single parent who did not have anybody to care for the child. The article also says that she was "confined to the base" before the commander let her go home for a short visit. That tells me that she was already in hot water. My guess is that this ain't her first rodeo, the Army believes that she and her mother conc
  8. That country has been screwed at least since 1957 when Papa Doc came into power. A corrupt government, a corrupt military, a corrupt police force, no infrastructure, no international business, and abject poverty have been the norm.
  9. That same number is advertised on Government Aid Websites, including USAID, the government agency in charge of all aid to Haiti from the United States. It is a legit number, and one of the quickest ways to get the actual cash into the hands of the Red Cross. If you choose, however, you can go to http://www.redcross.org and donate there by credit card. That may take up to 30 days to get into the hands of those who need it, but you can easily donate more there. The text campaign has raised over $800,000 so far. Red Cross Aid Campaign
  10. Many of the houses are foreclosures. If there even is a sign, they just make one up and stick it in the yard. It will "rent" before the bank knows anything. That is far less common than somebody overseas getting a list of foreclosures and just placing an ad in Craigslist or another online service. They do everything by e-mail or telephone, including giving you a PO Box or address overseas to send your check to. Over half of the people caught up in this scam also have their identity stolen by the same people from the info on the check.
  11. Let me guess, the key is coming from Nigeria? You can feel free to laugh as you walk away from this scam. If you have time, give all of the information that you have to the PCSO, and if possible notify the real owner of the scam.
  12. Wow, I just used it last week to look up a property record. Maybe it will come back online soon. I guess you will have to go to the courthouse in person. I rented homes out for 30 years, and I can tell you that no owner in his right mind will rent a house with no background check and no security deposit. Run, don't walk away from this deal.
  13. Multiple red flags. You can check the property records by address to find the name of the real owner if the property is in Paulding county at Property Taxes Online But seriously this sounds like a scam.
  14. USAID, the US Government coordinator of relief in Haiti is requesting that monetary donations be made to the American Red Cross. You can text the word "HAITI" to 90999 and ten dollars will be added to your cell phone bill and given to the American Red Cross for Haiti relief. You may also give more at http://www.redcross.org
  15. CNN is now reporting that a large hospital in the capital city has collapsed, along with the UN peacekeeping force headquarters. The streets are completely blocked with debris from collapsed buildings.
  16. So sad and so senseless. Prayers for all involved.
  17. Looks like a great dog. I bet he keeps you on your toes.
  18. I am afraid that you miss my point entirely, and I'm not surprised.
  19. The news coming in so far is pretty grim. Thank the Lord that the Tsunami watch has been canceled. The quake was centered only 10 miles off shore of Port-Au-Prince, the capital city, which is the poorest in the western hemisphere and where the residents mostly live in unreinforced masonry and compacted dirt homes.
  20. Do the same with boats, cars, trailers, tools, guns, and anything else with a serial number. Get the serial number from the seller and run it before you pay for the item. By the time you go to register it, the seller will be long gone. A lot of stolen stuff gets sold on Craigslist.
  21. Then by the same token, you would have no problem paying for a $4 million terminal building in say Valdosta. You have to take money from someone to give it to someone else. Just because you steal it from a larger group of people doesn't make it right or proper. It's still Pork, and it still stinks. This state has lived by the I want mine screw you credo for at least the 40 years that I have lived here, and it needs to stop. It is not a competition to see which representative can put the biggest Effing on the taxpayers of the state of Georgia. Or at least it shouldn't be. PICK THE LOSER
  22. An idiot 14 year old girl takes a cell phone pic of her ta ta's and sends it to the idiot boy she thinks she might kinda want to be her kinda boyfriend. Idiot boy broadcasts it to all of his buds, who broadcast it to theirs and on it goes. By the end of the day, a 14 year old girl's ta ta's are on hundreds of phones, and maybe only 20 of those people even know who she is. And nobody wants to hurt her, not even the idiot boy she sent the pic to in the first place. Now you have hundreds of phones that have child porn on them, and most of these kids are too stupid to delete it. Even the 1
  23. That statement right there is what is wrong with Government. Pick the loser first FB. Whose pocket do you want our next representative to pick so that he can slide his hand into yours? There is a Peter for every Paul.
