Candidates finalized for House Dist. 19 race
lotstodo replied to GRAYCE's topic in Paulding County NEWS
I found a dead 2000 House resolution HR260 that would have given the BOE this power. I also found where in 2005 a Study Committee was formed, apparently to no avail. This is absolutely something that our new representative should look into. -
From the Office of Chris Clark, Commissioner; Georgia Department of Natural Resources: Wednesday, February 3, is the premier of a new season of Georgia Outdoors. This is the 18th season DNR has partnered with Georgia Public Broadcasting to produce Georgia Outdoors, and I know that many of you around the state have been involved. From those who helped organize and schedule filming to those who appear on-camera to others who provided information to the new producer, you have gone above and beyond your regular responsibilities to help bring these new programs to the citizens of Georgia.

Debate: Are Closed Circuit Cameras Effective in Battling Crime?
lotstodo replied to Gabriel's_Mom's topic in RECENT TOPICS
But the citizens that beat up truck driver Reginald Denny during the Rodney King Riots were caught on tape and prosecuted as a result, so there's a flip. Sorry about your brother, but the fact that in some cases the video is ineffective in no way minimizes the fact that hundreds of violent criminals are caught, prosecuted, and convicted every year as a result of evidence gained through video surveillance. -

So you are willing to forgo 13% of felony convictions so you won't get caught picking your nose at the ATM? I can think of 3 murders just off the top of my head that have lead to recent arrests in Atlanta due to cameras, and the girl that was murdered at the college in Carolina was solved when the idiot used her ATM card. The fact is that you have no reasonable expectation of privacy on a public street or in a place of business except in bathrooms and changing facilities. I am sure that the families whose loved one's murder was solved using video evidence would strongly disagree with you -
More computer issues, another virus...aaaarrrrrggghhhhhh

You can downlosd and run the Microsoft® Windows® Malicious Software Removal Tool I would not put any credence into the screen that you posted, this is a pop-up advertisement. Quite frankly, if it were true, your best bet would be to format the hard drive and start over. Obviously at some point you have operated the computer without proper virus and adware protection. There are many free solutions that work very well, including Microsoft's own free Microsoft Security Essentials. -

And how many serious felony crimes have been solved because of cameras in stores, parking lots, and on ATM's? -

I'm not sure when the disclosures are due. So Far none have been filed. Surely they will require them prior to the election. If not what's the point? When the information is available, it should be posted HERE on the Secretary of State Website. -
Candidates finalized for House Dist. 19 race

Some where way back there PUBBY brought up the question of the Census and redistricting gerrymandering. The State of Georgia is the absolute poster child for that practice ever since Section 5 of the VRA turned the question of redistricting over to the DOJ. In 2001 the DOJ was republican, and the Supreme Court was Conservative, and for the first time in history the act of gerrymandering was thrown directly into the faces of the Democratic Statehouse in Georgia. For the first time since 1964 the Democrats had to justify districts that looked like snakes taking just enough Republican votes awa -

I agree. I believe that there was a proposal a while back for a constitutional amendment giving school boards the power to directly assess impact fees without the approval of the BOC. I believe that it may have gotten stuck in committee thanks to the Reynolds brothers and their ilk. We have to do something to reassert taxpayer control over growth, Right now, the rate of growth is entirely controlled by the developers and their buddies on the BOC. The School Board, however can and should do more than simply bending over and taking it. If you are not part of the solution, then you are part -
The NWS just updated the forecast to up to 12" in far northeast Georgia.

Candidates finalized for House Dist. 19 race

I understand what the voters voted for, but I also remember that we were told in no uncertain terms that it was the bond or a drastic rise in property taxes. That's not a misrepresentation. I know that impact fees are legal for County Governments, I don't know for sure that they can be directly assessed by Boards of Education. It may be that it would have to be a cooperative function. I did not hear the BOE or the BOC bring it up in either case as an alternative way to lower any part of our tax bill. I have lived in a county where there was a taxpayer uprising over runaway developmen -

I agree with most of this. It is obvious to all, or it should be, that as schools get overcrowded, people are less apt to want to move into the district. This affects the current population by potentially leading to a slowing of capital gains on their property, but greatly affects the builders living day in and day out on that growth. You also have to remember that up until the current recession, the double digit rise in home values meant a double digit rise in tax revenue for both the school board, and the county commission, far exceeding the 3.5% inflation rate. SWEET!. The last thin -
I think they are calling for the bad stuff only in North Georgia. Anybody south of Rome should get just rain. But you never know, I better go get milk and bread.

Absolutely. As long as the E-mail is only disrespectful and not abusive, your best option is to ignore it. If you are required to respond to a question (not an accusation) then do so directly and professionally as an attachment or response to the original e-mail, always leaving the entire chain of e-mails intact. If for some reason you believe that this person has gone to the extent of blaming you for his/er mistakes, then I would just begin to blind copy my boss on all e-mails dealing with the subject, remembering to remain professional in my response. You can cover your arse without st

SUV's are large and cumbersome when compared to a mid size or even full size sedan. They also have a much longer braking distance and are more prone to rollover than a sedan. Most safety experts recommend a newer mid size sedan with side airbags and stability control over the more difficult to operate SUV's for new drivers.

The Georgia State Government E-Mail System has the format ?????@[division].state.ga.us If the e-mail came from [someone]@sos.state.ga.us, or [someone]@corp.sos.state.ga.us it is a legitimate address for the Secretary of State's Office. https://corp.sos.state.ga.us is a valid State of Georgia Government Website. that you may be redirected to through either http://www.georgiacorporations.org or http://www.sos.georgia.gov, when you click on "click to continue" to renew your registration. The yahoo e-mail is absolutely suspicious though, and you were correct in not clicking on any lin -
My dual fuel system was set up about 2 years ago with a very efficient 2.5 Ton RUUD Achiever energy star heat pump that had been in place for only a year, and a middle of the road furnace. I had 2 HVAC guys tell me the same thing, and that was to set the switch to 34 deg to save the most money. Modern heat pumps, including mine, will function down into the high teens, but they are less economical per BTU than an 80 AFUE natural gas furnaces below about freezing, and lack the capacity to keep the house at 68 without an auxiliary source, like strips, when the temperature falls into the mid 20's

Toyota Halts Sales of 8 Models in Recall Toyota said on Tuesday that it would suspend sales of eight models involved in a recall announced last week for potentially faulty accelerator pedals. Toyota also said it would halt production of the models at plants in the United States and Canada in the first week of February. The sales suspension and recall includes Toyota’s top-selling vehicle in North America, the Camry, for model years since 2007. Also included are 2009-2010 model year RAV4, Corolla and Matrix; 2008-2010 model year Sequoia; 2007-2010 model year Tundra; 2005-2010 m

I went with some friends to pick out a headstone for their family member who died quite suddenly at the age of 50. I mentioned that the number of death announcements here on P Com for people 50 and under seemed to increase in the last few months, and the lady said that it wasn't my imagination. She said that they have had dozens of younger people dying suddenly since this last fall, far more than she could remember dying in years before. I wonder why that is. I wonder if it's the stress of the economy, an increasingly hectic lifestyle, or just an anomaly? It just seems so tragic when I

An electric heat pump is only efficient down to about 34° outside temperature. When we have sustained temps below that, a resistance heater, just like a huge space heater, comes on to make up the difference. When this happens you will usually see a light come on on your thermostat that says "Aux" or "Emer". These heat strips are horribly inefficient, and can easily double your power bill in very cold months. If you have natural gas available on your street, have an HVAC guy come give you a price replacing the heat strips with a gas furnace as a booster, creating a dual fuel system. It will

Loritab 10 is a Drug containing acetaminophen and hydrocodone. Hydrocodone is a opioid analgesic medication just like Oxycontin, and can be addictive as well as a contributor to liver disease and other illnesses when used long term, as can acetaminophen. It is the long term effect that is probably more troubling to him than your personal likelihood of addiction. I imagine this is why your doctor recommended pain management instead of the long term use of the drug.

It has about as much of a chance of passing a referendum as stealing funds from the lottery to finance other education initiatives not specified in the amendment that created it. Oh wait. Sonny wants to do that too, but without the required referendum. They are both just indications that a politician, any politician, can not abide the possibility that there is a revenue stream that they can't get their greedy tax hungry hands on. So much so that they are willing to try to create one from whole cloth. And that's not a partisan problem, but a universal one. -
We now have the hot dog and shoe size threads up for your consideration.
