  1. Bill Clinton was speaking to the possibility of what he defines as the "extremes" on both ends. His example was the lawful possession of firearms in housing projects and his administration's misguided attempt to outlaw them, a liberal elitist approach to the problem of crime in the projects. Trampling the second amendment rights of law abiding citizens has nothing to do with supposed security provided by the state. He saw the removal of guaranteed freedoms not only as reasonable, but necessary even when there was no causal relationship between legal gun ownership and the commission of a viole
  2. First, you can't win a battle over whose imaginary friend is the absolute best ever, so the intelligent course of action would be to avoid such confrontations. Second, we have become a nation of consumers, not producers over the last 30 or so years, making us beholden to other countries for monetary and commodity support. Third, we have willingly abdicated much of our personal responsibility and thus our personal freedom to make social and economic decisions for ourselves to the government, mostly in the misguided belief that the government can provide us with personal and economic sec
  3. I was driving down Williams Lake road about dusk this spring, and there was a TV in the middle of the road. I moved it to the shoulder, and topped the hill to several tires and several trash bags strewn everywhere. Somebody had just driven down the road chucking trash out of the back of a pick up truck. I'd be in jail right now if I had seen them do it. We even had a deer carcass tossed in the middle of the intersection once. Some people are just selfish no account pigs.
  4. It really wouldn't matter. The courts would inevitably side with his right to protest. Your right to free speech can not be abridged as long as lives are not endangered, and the federal courts use strict compliance rules to decide these cases. In other words, the burden of proof is upon the city to prove that lives would unquestionably have been endangered by the manner of protest and the city would not be reasonably able to protect those lives. If fact, courts have ruled that it is the responsibility of the municipality to provide fire protection, just as they would police protection if n
  5. It's been scientifically proven that Birthdays are good for you. The more you have, the longer you live.
  6. Explain that to the City of Gainsville, who in fact has denied his application for a burn permit: The church's application for a permit was rejected because it failed to meet guidelines for an open-air burning, said Gainesville spokesman Robert Woods. Reverend Ignores Warnings They can say that it is based upon any local ordinance they wish, and it is, but the Federal Courts won't be buying what the city is selling if they choose to stop the burning or punish him in any way. Case law is very clear on this, and the locals have not won a case in 40 years of identical litigation.
  7. I find myself temporarily home bound, but I would love it if somebody could record some of the festivities and maybe post them. A group picture of the "Renegade Republicans" would be priceless. (Can you post Brunswick Stew? I sure hope so).
  8. probably the smartest statement on the subject to date.
  9. I believe that an open form of debate is exactly what Will is proposing. You are correct that anything else would just be a verbalization of their websites. I want to know what the candidate will do and how they think, not the politically crafted statements of their campaign brain trust.
  10. He is trying to "prove" that he is willing to face the voters of the 19th district and answer their questions in an open forum, he invited Ms. Braddock to join him, and may the best person win. The ball is now in her court. Do you think she should debate and discuss the issues affecting the 19th district or continue to rest on her party affiliation? Which is better for the citizens of Paulding County?
  11. He failed to obtain a fire permit from local officials. The use of such a local law to stop the expression of free speech has been overturned in Federal court every time it has been attempted in the past, including cross burnings by the KKK. I seriously doubt that he will even be charged, because doing so would cost the City a small fortune in legal fees defending an unconstitutional application of the local ordnance.
  12. There were few public condemnations from foreign Muslim religious leaders, but I am sure that you are correct that those with whom you did business were apologetic and probably genuinely disturbed. They knew you personally and had a familiarity with Americans in general beyond the propaganda commonly distributed throughout the middle east portraying the United States as the great satan. I don't think that it was as much a fabrication by the media as it was a dearth of positive material to show from the Middle East and Indonesia. The media has certainly been in the forefront of portraying
  13. Had she said old FARTS, then I would be certain that she was referring to me.
  14. You bet. What's good for the goose is good for the gander. I'm all for moral outrage, but when even the spokesperson for Secretary of State/Apologist in Chief repeats some of the ludicrous remarks about this ill conceived act of free speech being un-American, we, at least I, need to also raise my voice in vigorous disagreement to set the record straight. There are a lot of statements made and protests held by a lot of people that are not representative of 51% of the population, and they are hardly un-American.
  15. So now burning the Koran is anti-American? Don't break your legs jumping to that conclusion. ALL, let me repeat that for the hard of reading, ALL rights are individual rights. You can not take away the rights of the KKK or the Dove Outreach folks, or the Westboro folks to protest using whatever legal means is at their disposal without denying those same rights to the ACLU, or The American Islamic Association, or the VFW to do likewise. Burning the Koran as a form of peaceful protest is stupid, abrasive, backward, and wholly politically incorrect. But it is as indicative of the American
  16. Nobody is cleaning state right of ways. The Sheriffs Office cleans local roads using work details as they get around to them, but the orange garbage bags sit for months because the PCDOT doesn't pick them up and take them to the dump. I have seen the orange trash bags mowed over twice on Bethel Church Road. When we walk through the neighborhood, we take a plastic grocery bag with us and pick up the beer bottles and cigarette packs that the teenagers in the neighborhood throw out before getting back to mommy and daddy's house. I find it hard to believe that some folks won't even pick up
  17. Madea, who wins if one candidate refuses to discuss the issues, and stays out of sight? Surely you can't see this as a positive for the voters of Paulding. If Paulette is the best candidate for the job, let her prove it to us. Will answered your questions that you inappropriately claimed he wouldn't address. Let Paulette answer some of ours. Staying out of the spotlight and away from debating the issues is obviously Paulette's strategy (please prove me wrong), and it is the strategy that won Alvin Greene the Democratic spot on the ticket in SC. If I was applying for a job and I thought
  18. I suppose it is far too much trouble to attend, what with her many international business commitments and all. Face it. She is going to rest on the ( R ) behind her name and hope that she doesn't have to open her mouth and say something she will later regret. The people of Paulding County are the losers.
  19. It's probably a little early, but I would like to see more than one forum where the candidates answer questions from the audience by lottery or questions posed by a neutral third party such as the LOWV. Perhaps one of each.
  20. Some of the smartest and richest people I know have only a high School Diploma, and some have advanced degrees. Practical knowledge and formal education don't necessarily go hand in hand, but many folks with a college background have experiences that helped them develop common sense through the time tested method of trial and error. If you will let it, college can teach you how to learn. There are those, however, that make you wonder if they tie their own shoes in the morning before going to work.
  21. Politifact Georgia is a wholly owned subsidiary of the Atlanta Journal Constitution editorial board, and as such is not exactly a right wing fascist zombie propaganda machine of the RNC. I rather imagine it pained them to publish this. You're darn right that they are biased, and I dare you to find any believable person to say that they are biased toward conservative candidates. I suppose that you think that Roy can give all the teachers raises by scraping the gold off of the dome? Do you believe that the Democratic President of the United States didn't invite the Democratic Candidate fo
