Good. Let the voters decide. Clinch County can remain a good God fearing get your Old Milwaukee on Saturday night and pretend to be sober on Sunday kind of place while the more metro counties that rely more highly on sales taxes for money can leave the silly Blue Laws behind and join the 21st century.

County takes lead in $2 billion toll road project to by-pass Atlanta
lotstodo replied to gpatt0n's topic in RECENT TOPICS
Absolutely. Quite often in these Public/Private projects, it is the brute force of government theft of property through eminent domain that is what the "public" brings to the table. "Private" brings money in search of a profit. Neither side automatically or naturally has the best interests of the majority of residents affected by the project in mind. It is up to the citizens to ensure that their rights and interests are paramount. This doesn't mean that all such projects are bad, just that not all such projects are good for the majority. This project has the power to fundamentally change -
Question about presidential elections

I'd love to see the Dems air their dirty laundry in a primary in 2012, but that's just me. It won't happen, Barry will get the nod. -

NIMBY will probably kill it, but it needs further consideration. -
It takes a long time for an airport to build up business. We just got an FBO so that planes can buy gas there and pilots can check the weather and file flight plans. It takes a lot more than concrete to make an airport. Charlie Brown used to be a big piece of pavement in a field also. We need to attract quality mechanical services, car rentals (enterprise is currently filling this need remotely), and restoration services as well. Other local airports are at or nearing full capacity for tie downs, and our time will come sooner than later.

Those are called "organ donors". Sometimes the herd needs a little thinning.

"Dinner's Ready" on Hwy 92 in Douglasville. Best catfish in the area, Meat & vegies or Vegie plate. Homemade dessert. They just moved to D-ville from Villa-Rica, and they are at 6405 Fairburn Rd suite 400, on the East side of 92 just south of 78.

Those Lockheed boys need a way to get there without their wives seeing their car in the parking lot.

The ADA is a big part of my business, but fortunately i don't deal much with the employment aspects of it. I have seen it turned into a big mess though when someone with a bone to pick with their employer claims a disability out of thin air. It becomes sort of a no-firing insurance policy, and most times, the employer has done nothing wrong. The government has used a standard of reasonability to accommodate employees with disabilities, and until now, at least, has acknowledged that disabilities do naturally keep some employees from doing some jobs. ie: paraplegics do not often make good

And with a wink and a nod from a division within the Administrative branch of the Federal Government. The same Administrative Branch, although under different leadership, that got $80 Billion in advertising and support for Obamacare in exchange for the promise not to price shop Big Pharma products in perpetuity. Big Government in bed with big lobbyists? Go Figure.

On Friday a good friend of ours got word that his 87 year old father had been found unresponsive in the rehab facility where he had been sent following a mild stroke. Our friend and his sister rushed down to Orlando to be with him in his final hours. When they got there, he was unconscious and on a respirator, had a thready pulse, and his heart was obviously giving out. On Sunday night they pulled the plug, disconnecting him from all of the machines, withdrawing heart meds, and giving him only comfort medications. They all waited for the end. Yesterday morning at 8:30 AM, to everyone's

It happens sometimes. The State taxes things like some pensions and Social Security differently than the Feds do. Georgia's standard withholding deductions don't seem quite as generous either. I would say that if it happens 2 years in a row, add one Georgia deduction. Remember the goal is a zero sum come April 15th. I would personally rather owe a little than loan the government money interest free for a whole year.

Absent any evidence that the custodial parent was somehow incapable of either making the decision or adequately providing for the child's education, I agree, but that is apparently not how the law works in NH. The judges were in a no-win situation and forced to apply their best judgement in a situation where according to new Hampshire law, both parents had equal rights to make that decision. When both sides start out equal, it doesn't take much to tip the scale. It may have been something quite small that persuaded them that the best interests of the child were better served in Public Sc

They may very well be trying to "catch up" from the anomalies of the last couple of years, but they can not legitimately be basing these increases on any rational expectation of increased losses in the future due to Acts of God unrelated to growth patterns and drainage issues. If so, I would like a crack at their crystal ball.

Our company has always sent an adjuster out, and they have always been fair. I haven't received any notice of a rate increase, and pay only slightly more per $1000 insured value than I did in 2004 when we bought the house. The only thing I have heard about is the upcoming redrawing of the 100 year flood plain, since growth patterns have changed the drainage capabilities in metro Atlanta and the surrounding area. We grew by 75% in the last 10 years, covering thousands of acres of woods and fields with pavement and roofs. Basically, if you had a loss related to the 2009 floods, be prepare

A Paulding County redneck in a Pickup comes to a 4 way stop just before a yuppie in a BMW scoots through from the left. The redneck pulls up behind the BMW at a traffic light, gets out and yells at the guy for not stopping. The yuppie screams back,"Well I slowed down enough to make sure that there wasn't an accident and that's the same thing". The Redneck takes his pocket knife out and starts dragging it along the side of the BMW. The yuppie yells "hey what do you think you're doing!" The Redneck says "I'm scratching the heck out of the side of your car. Do you want me to stop or do you

Some power companies will disconnect and reconnect at no charge if it can be done within an hour or so. If they disconnect and have to come back to reconnect, or wait on an inspection, they may or may not charge a small fee for their time. Either way, it must be done by the power company. Keep in mind that it is their responsibility to maintain the cable on their side of the meter also. If the cable running from the transformer to the meter is deteriorated, they will usually replace it for free at the same time if you ask.

"Debtor's Prison" Making a Come Back?
lotstodo replied to LisaKW@bellsouth.net's topic in RECENT TOPICS
Any time you are sued in civil court, a subpoena or summons is issued for you to appear. It's not some secret between the debt collector and the judge. Ignoring the summons, or the inability of the marshal or process server to serve the summons because you skipped or gave the finance company false or outdated information as to your address, does not excuse you from your appearance. If you fail to show up, you can be held immediately in criminal contempt of court at the court's discretion. The Plaintiff may then ask for a summary judgement or a Show Cause ruling regardless of the court's c -
