  1. Any bets on whether or not those arrested will be released back into the wild without ICE being contacted?
  2. $8.5 billion is a small price to pay to be done with the fiasco and to move on without a fear of further blowback. It was a sound business decision. It's a real shame that these banks got away with their collusion with F & F and the government to create credit where none was warranted.
  3. I'm afraid you are incorrect. Sen Coburn of OK sponsored the bill along with Feinsatein of CA. Both OK senators and both CA Senators voted for appeal of the subsidy. Senate Vote BTW: Saxby Chambliss voted No.
  4. Channelmaster 8 bay outdoor HD antenna. You don't need a VHF antenna, as Channel 11 is the only Atlanta channel currently assigned a VHF frequency (10), and the above Channel Master Antenna will pick up channel's 7 and above in most cases. There is a good website that can tell you what channels you can expect to receive at your exact location: Antenna Web - Address based Antenna Selection Guide
  5. ESPN 3 online has a lot of what is broadcast on ESPN and ESPN 2 over cable. Tell the boys to check it out.
  6. You should see what it is doing to boats that are stored for weeks or months near water. For every gallon of ethanol laced gasoline, you can accumulate up to 1 cup of water in a tank. It can ruin a $15,000 engine. It's political engineering at it's best.
  7. Dropped my $100 cable bill and installed an antenna. That along with free cable shows over the internet and a $9 to netflix and i don't miss cable one bit. I sure don't miss the bill. I also don't talk much on my personal cell phone. The Mrs. and I dropped our $85 per month ATT cell phone bill and got two net10 prepaid phones. My cell phone bill is now $30 per month for 2 phones.
  8. Just another Cornhusker Kickback. It is the government intentionally manipulating the price of a commodity for no other purpose than political payback. Corn is not an efficient source of ethanol, and when land use is factored in, it produces more polution than pure gasoline. BTW. Ethanol is not specifically required by the EPA. Gasoline must meet reduced vaporization standards in the summer in key metro areas, and ethanol is a cheap way to do that. The definition of reduced vaporization is reduced fuel mileage. Ethanol is a poor choice all around, and corn ethanol is political lunacy. bu
  9. Oil is a commodity. It's price is set just like corn, by a mix of supply and demand and speculation. Any manipulation of supply can affect the price. The oil companies don't own the oil lands, they lease them from countries. In the middle east and many other oil rich countries the sovereigns set production quotas, not the oil companies. The average profit of an oil company is 8%. The US Federal tax on gasoline is 15%. Oil has the added factor of being sold on the international market in US Dollars making it a target of currency speculators as a safe haven from a falling dollar. The
  10. Fiat said earlier that it would consider becoming a naturalized US Corporation if the US Government would cough up incentives in the form of tax breaks and cut rate long term financing. How long will it be before Ford, Caterpillar, Nationsbank, Cisco, Microsoft, Google, Exxon and a host of other multinationals begin to sell themselves to the highest bidder? Patriotism in the face of higher taxes and restrictions is not so attractive any more. Consider also that the three international bond rating agencies have never allowed a corporation or state to have a higher bond rating than it's sov
  11. There wasn't a developer friend involved in your case. That would be my guess. What is happening to PIP is the county illegally trying to bleed him dry in the hopes he will run out of money and go away. Kudos to him for sticking it out. Shame on both the previous and the current commission. We as taxpayers will be the ultimate losers, big time.
  12. Not much to see unless you like cabbage palms, cows, and crowded highways. Most of south central Florida is pretty boring and the east coast from Miami to Melbourne or Cocoa is traffic central.
  13. The government has not yet approved EM's proposals. That gas could stay locked in that rock fr years while the EDF and others tie it up in court. Right now natural gas is near it's modern time low price. It is still $4.64 per MMBtu vs. coal at $2.34 per MMBtu. It costs twice as much, and is not by any stretch of the imagination twice as clean as a modern coal plant. I would like to see Georgia retire some of it's antique coal fired plants and replace them with modern plants. Just as with automobiles, removing the oldest and dirtiest would by far do the most good, but the way current la
  14. “There are more than 100 different conditions in this permit, and of those, only two required further analysis, which speaks to the thoroughness of our application,” said Dean Alford, spokesperson for POWER4Georgians. “We know what needs to be done to address Judge Walker’s concerns, and we look forward to addressing her concerns as soon as possible.” “The opponents who appealed the permit have been focused on trying to prevent Plant Washington, yet they have no plans for how Georgia’s energy needs are going to be met in the years to come,” Alford added. “They have been repeatedly encourag
  15. I love her. She is as sharp as a tack.
  16. No, No, No, a thousand times NO. The judge did NOT rule that CO2 was actually a pollutant. He ruled that CO2 fit the legal definition of a pollutant under the clean air act and that as such the EPA could regulate it. In fact the court commented that the legal definition of "air pollutant" under the CAA was quite capacious. He DID NOT, I repeat, he DID NOT rule on the voracity or the correctness of the law, and in fact, reviewed only law. He simply interpreted EPA's power and responsibility under the CAA from a legal standpoint. Judges do not decide questions of math and science, they deci
  17. Hang in there, PIP. The actions of the BOC are unconscionable.
  18. Yeah, those AGW skeptics are so pro pollution and anti environment. Kill all the Bald Eagles, slash and burn, set every river on fire, choke every city, fill every swamp with garbage, you know that sort of thing. Why they are just plain stupid and uneducated. How can one be so ignorant. Either that or they are rich bastards living off of the sweat of the proletariat. I haven't made up my mind which yet. Maybe both. It's just a huge conspiracy between the stupid and the rich, yeah, that's the ticket. Oh wait, the rich are paying the stupid. No. The rich are stupid. No they are arrogant
  19. Am I correct in remembering that he has a history of heart disease also? What a shame, I wish him the best.
  20. It's so funny to watch Pubby and Pip continue to deform the opposing opinion into something they think they can argue against.
  21. They cannot accurately recreate the past with their models, so why should we believe that they can accurately predict the future? The hockey stick graph that is still to this day being paraded around by the warmists like a captured enemy soldier's head is an admitted fraud. (excuse me, admitted "mistake" so that Mann could keep his job) I taught engineering research, prototyping, and proof of concept as a TA in the ESM Department at Georgia Tech many moons ago, and I assure you that when you start out with a foregone conclusion (man is causing global warming) and try to prove it, you will ce
  22. Great story. Thank you so much for your family's sacrifice. That fine young man that is your son is in our thoughts.
  23. She should join "The View". She would fit right in.
