  1. There is no doubt in my mind (opinion, PGA) that this was the prevailing attitude with the last board particularly. We and others fought P&Z and The CC over a 1100 home PRD on 400 acres, 200 of which was unbuildable swamp. The PRD most likely violated state and Federal environmental law and at least the spirit if not the letter of the Counties own zoning regulations, but was allowed anyway (fortunately for us, the economy killed it, at least for now). A high ranking employee with P&Z, was summarily fired not long after answering my question about density honestly in a public meeting,
  2. Jungle juice, hunch punch, rocket fuel, whatever you call it. It's been around since the first person realized that cheap gin had very little flavor when mixed with fruit juice. The punch is not new, drunk teenagers are nothing new, and kids are just as stupid now as they were back in the 20's. Three bottles of $5 gin or vodka equal one bottle of everclear or 151. There's nothing new in the universe. ETA, neutral grain spirits like Everclear, Golden Grain, Gem Clear, etc have themselves been around since spirits were first distilled.
  3. Correct. Reality vs. Keynesian delusion.
  4. Mrs. Ford was a very gracious lady, outwardly soft spoken but courageous and a true force of nature. She arguably did more for the recovery community than anyone since Bill. She will be missed.
  5. It does have an effect JM. Nixon's economic advisers warned him of the possibility when he ended Vietnam, but you have your priorities. We see incumbent politicians claim the economy is sound right up until people start jumping out of windows every time, war or not.
  6. Just a couple of things. Light sweet is used in gasoline only because it requires less refining and less emissions and is therefore cheaper to use even given it's slightly higher price. It's price is still inextricably tied to heavy crude, which is the most plentiful source. It isn't a requirement for refining into any product. Strangely enough, the price at the head in Ponca City was actually cheaper than the price at the other end of the pipeline in New Orleans this spring meaning that Oklahoma sweet was in lower demand than heavy crude, an admittedly reverse situation to the norm indi
  7. I don't know if we will ever see 4%-5% unemployment anytime in the next decade, but I would certainly say that 6%-7% is not too much to hope for. it is just going to take much longer than anyone thought. Myself, back in 2008 I thought that we would be well on the road by at least the third quarter of 2010, but I had no idea what unheard of macro forces would be brought to bear by Washington.
  8. Oddly enough, I actually read your link (I bet you thought by posting a big PDF that I would just take your word for it) and enjoyed it immensely. World oil demand is as of June predicted to rise by 1.59% YOY, although the first and second quarters show a YOY annualized rise of 1.37%. Non-opec production is up as of June up .66%, and Opec production is up .18% YOY. As of May, OPEC had an 11% spare delivery capacity ( a figure very germane to our discussion but not included in your report). Refinery operations worldwide are at 84.3% capacity. In other words, there is no shortage of petr
  9. Bermuda shorts are fine if you are 6ft-4in tall and weigh 140 lbs or less, or if your knees stick out further than your boobs do. Otherwise, not so much.
  10. I'm not sure how making your legs look shorter will help. My personal preference is pants or knee high and slightly lower skirts for more "fluffy" body types. I am not the only male who has noticed that capris are quite unflattering. Looks like you are walking around on stumps.
  11. Petroleum supplies in the US are higher than average for the entirety of this year and last. There is no energy "shortage". To suggest that raising the cost of energy in a time of recession and extreme unemployment would somehow solve the problem is pure lunacy.
  12. Miniskirts are fine for women who can pull it off. Capris on the other hand should be legally banned from the closets of all women everywhere. My guess if that the same marketing genius that came up with the moo-moo and shoulder pads invented capris.
  13. His one caveat to his statement was that live cameras remove the "filtering effect" of reporters, and that was his primary reason for allowing them in. I guess that he means reporting bias. I would disagree. I would say that for the vast majority of people who did not see the entire broadcast, it simply provided for a source of sound bites and dramatic video to show while running the same types of sensational commentary you accurately state existed previously. Would "If it doesn't fit you must acquit" be nearly as memorable and repeated as often without OJ's feigned struggle to put on the
  14. Everything about this report sucked, including the fact that May non-farm payroll increases were revised down by half. “It is about as bad as anyone could imagine. On face value it does suggest we are grinding to a halt.” - Nigel Gault, chief U.S. economist for IHS Global Insight. Average hourly earnings in June were flat. About 272,000 people simply disappeared from the labor force. The factory workweek fell sharply. This report stunned Wall Street, which expected a 125,000 increase. The news sent stocks and the dollar tumbling and treasury prices and gold skyrocketing as people
  15. If you will read the Entire report and not just the press release, you will see that parents are strongly cautioned about pregnancy, lactation, and infancy. "Well planned" includes more than just vegetables. The use of dietary supplements are highly recommended. Particularly to increase the levels of DHA, cholesterol, and vitamins A, B12, and D exactly as I stated above.

    Why

Somebody has spent all day dredging up old polls and voting in them to move them back to the front page. There have been a half dozen today alone.
  17. There is a big difference between newspaper reports and TV coverage. Council finds it hard to play to the typesetter. There is absolutely no doubt that trials are conducted differently when a prosecutor, a judge, and a defense lawyer all know that their pretty mug and commanding presence are on the screen in millions of living rooms worldwide. OJ's Judge said later that he was painfully aware of the cameras every minute of the trial and that he may have conducted the trial differently because of them. I personally think that had not the prosecutors been playing to the camera, and had th
  18. have you applied to The EPA and NASA for a multimillion dollar grant yet? As long as you produce "positive" results, the cash will keep coming.
  19. Since 2007, more than 31,000 American scientists, have signed a petition which says that there is no conclusive or convincing evidence that Anthropogenic Global Warming even exists. Using the Warmist's own numbers, and assuming for a moment that AGW is as real and awful as the Warmists wants us to believe, adhering strictly to Kyoto would lower global temperatures only eight one hundredths of one degree. That is not even measurable. That would also cost about 0.8% to 2% of world GDP annually (Warmist's numbers again) or about $600 billion to $1.5 Trillion annually. It is interesting
  20. It is interesting that there are no Vegan societies throughout history. It's interesting because a strict Vegan diet can be deadly to the unborn and infants, even breastfed, and can cause malnutrition, protein deficiencies, and severe vitamin and mineral deficiencies in adults. Such a society would quite simply die out. There are native societies that are vegetarian (they include dairy and/or eggs) or that also eat only fish, but no Vegans. The human body needs first class proteins, DHA, cholesterol, and absorbable vitamin D and A to survive. In fact, I remember a case right here in At
  21. Not blaming you SQ. Every so often "somebody" drags up all the old polls and votes just to bring dead topics back to the top. They do a bunch at one time, and it's obvious it wasn't the last person to comment.
  22. Yeah boy. Everything is hunky dory. <sarcasm> Even Alan Greenspan, Mr. easy money himself, and the head of the NBER dating committee call this the "worst recovery in history". I really don't care if you blame Bush for the recession, or Mickey Mouse for that matter, but there is no denying that this is Obama's (lack of a) recovery.
