As an eyewitness.

Our embarassment of a Senator speculated that Sunday alcohol sales would spur more domestic abuse and gay relationships.

It is because so many more are obtaining degrees, it has watered down the market. Public money funds more tuitions now than any time in history.

As above....most agencies just look for the number of contacts with the public. If he specializes in motorcycle traffic enforcement then the majority of those contacts should be from traffic stops where a beat officer will have a larger mixture of calls for service and investigation of suspicious activity.
-
LOL....you would think the public would be all for ensuring officers are out there actively enforcing doing their job since they "pay their salary". The stats always show if there is a problem. Lets say everyone in the zone has good numbers for stopping traffic violators, arrests, and answering calls for service except for one guy. He dodge calls, didn't stop any cars, or make any arrests, there is a performance problem there which may need some special attention.

I will never understand the big deal that is made about it. From my first job in food service, through several sales jobs, and an IT job, all had performance measures. It is common place in every profession out there.

I say it should wait until the next regular election. A special election will attract too many activists.

I have always been amused at the public perception that all officers write ticket after ticket all day long. Fact is the average patrol officer is too busy to work traffic, many write only a few, some even 0 per month. The ones assigned to traffic units such as HEAT and DUI write more of course, since that is their primary focus. The 'quota' thing also amuses me because it was nothing more than a performance standard which exists in every profession on Earth. People try to spin it like the officer is having to work hard to find nonexistent traffic infractions just to make the bosses hap

Not really...... Words which can incite an immediate breach of the peace....disorderly conduct(bunch of names in different areas) Simple assault is normally a threat of violence or harm which places someone in fear Simple battery is physical violence or unwanted touching of a person, contact must be made. Either way....he is an actor. I will never understand why people place celebrities on such a pedestal. Just because you can act a script does not mean you are a good person, that you are smart, or that the world needs your political opinion.

The city of Dallas maintains a system within the city limits. There are no sirens in the unincorporated areas.

A reported 'ear injury' could easily be just the visible trauma from a more serious head injury.

Guess you missed the point to. This is real simple.....I did not say he intended to kill anyone.....I said his negligent actions, since he has been found at fault, caused the death of another. Like I said earlier, I cannot imagine the suffering he is going through and would never want to walk in his shoes, but that still does not change the end result. Had the driver of the other car been found at fault I guarantee everyone would want them charged and no one would settle for "it was an accident". Either way, I do not think this is the time or place for this discussion. However

First off....my opinion was not stated in any sort of disrespectful manner what so ever. I simply gave my view of the situation from a legal standpoint. Second....no where did I mention there was any intent or a deliberate act to hurt anyone. The homicide by vehicle law addresses death caused by negligence. Violating a traffic law such as failing to yield is a negligent act. By law, if the negligent act caused the death of another the driver is held responsible, simple as that. While you may believe it is an accident, in the legal world it is not because it was avoidable. I beli

Yup....I am sure every officer in the investigation understands the most devastated person out of this will be the 16yo who just killed his mother. However, the law is clear and the officer is expected to do their job. This isn't a speeding ticket or simple traffic infraction, this is the death of another where the justice system is left to speak for rights of the deceased. Our system is really not designed to give officers discretion in serious matters such as this, it should be left in the hands of the elected officials who society chose to act on their behalf in the best interest of just

You may not have all the liquor stores open but I guarantee a few will. Capitalism at its finest, there is money to be made at a higher share because competitors are closed, some owners will seize the opportunity.
-
Hmmm....in my experience I have never heard of an agency allowing its officers to have discretion in something as serious as vehicular homicide. Every agency I know of would require the case to be filed if there was probable cause an unlawful act caused the death of another. It would be up to the District Attorney and judge to determine what disposition is correct for the scenario, that is what they are there for, to balance our legal systems need for justice against the particulars of every case.

Do you know how many times I heard chuckled "I would not do your job for what they pay" and "I could not live off that" boasted by others in the private sector during the 'good times'. Now that times are bad all of a sudden my pay and benefits are too much and I should be punished. You can't win for losing. Bottom line....there are lots of cuts that could be made that the elected leaders but they do not have the balls to do. They should fund the essentials and let most of the tax payer funded amenities go away. They would rather give themselves raises and try to keep as much of this u

Finally....this is certainly going to drag out many of the church folks in opposition. Anyone with common sense knows it was a stupid limitation on personal freedom.

I think they closed the store, it is empty.

You mean Argo lake? Goldmine Lake is on the WMA lands.

Unless they find a witness they will never know. There are a million scenarios that could have happened.

Until it closes again because of their mega high prices. Last time I went in everything was double what I expect to pay in similar stores with like products. If they lower their prices to something reasonable they will do well. However, when the $20 item is $39.99, I will just drive to Hiram.

Either way...it takes effort to fall over even a standard 4ft railing. The most obvious reason would be suicide unless she was doing something really stupid like leaning way over. That would normally be out of character for a woman in her mid 40's unlike a teen on spring break.

Might as well do it right and indict him again if something really was amiss in the GJ. If they ignored an error and carried on it would be a guaranteed reversal at a later time when another attorney is appealing it.

....and the same ones that turn on their emergency flashers in the rain.
