  1. This was something that I had to do for a class at Chatt Tech. Just do not get too in depth. Say where you were born, what your childhood was like, what type of morals and values were instilled in you growing up, what happened after you graduated as far as education, family, etc. and also what you hope to get from the class you are in.
  2. My son's was on the list. Thanks so much for posting that information! His battery really does get very hot. Ordered the new one, so we will see what happens.
  3. The same exact thing happened to me over on 278 a couple of weeks ago. The only difference is that is was an idiot on a motorcyle that came up beside me and swerved over in front of me when the light turned green. I so wanted to do some serious bump drafting that day!
  4. I don't know whether it is true or not, but also keep in mind that the nursing program is very competitive at any school. To be admitted into the program you basically have to maintain A's and B's. Also for anyone wanting to do online classes, know that you have to be very disciplined to do those classes and if you have to have someone explaining things to you, it is not the way to go. I have taken about 8 online classes, but I waited until I was in school for 3 quarters before I attempted it. I have done very well with them, but I do not have small children and I also put in a tremendous a
  5. Get a college degree. At the age of 48, I am 3 classes away from succeeding.
  6. I may be wrong, I don't know. I would think that if his name is on the birth certificate and he has been a participant in the raising and care of this child, then he does have rights to that child. My thought is that if the situation was that he was not paying child support for the child, her first thought would be "you signed the birth certificate and you owe me money". I think unless you can prove that he is not partipating and is unfit, then he does have some rights. This is just not a good situation all the way around. I hate that she is having to go through this.
  7. I complete agree with you. When I saw this on the news last night my son, who graduated in 2007, was sitting there with me also. He said that it is really a shame that these kids have waited until now to pitch a fit about not passing this test. He said they had ample opportunity to do what needed to be done. Believe me, he is an average student, not an honor student. My heart breaks for these kids and parents, but our kids have to learn that life is not fair; everything doesn't always go the way you want it to go. My fear is that some of these students will never graduate now because the
  8. I completely agree with all of you that talk about not using Algebra in their lives; I do not, never will. But the point is that sometimes these kids decide at the last minute, or because they somehow think that it will be easier, to get a degree from a technical school. The classes that you have to take to do that require things like Composition, Algebra, Economics, etc. Believe me, I did not have Algebra in high school and I took it at Chatt Tech 2 quarters ago at the age of 47. Wow, that class was kicking my behind. I put in extra time, tutoring, studying, doing all the homework and en
  9. I am also in college right now and I am amazed everyday at what I see. It is really sad.
  10. Well, here is a question for all of you that are against standardized testing. If everyone is taking the same classes (since they did away with tech prep), should everyone not be learning the same things? Also so much of what they learn in high school is basic knowledge and information that will take them into college or even technical school. If our children do not comprehend what they are learning in high school, they will never make it at the college level. I believe that they just want to know if they have a basic knowledge of what they supposedly have learned in school. It is really
  11. College definitely is not any easier. Try being a 48 year old that is taking an online class. We have tests that are timed and while you are taking it, there is this little clock in the upper right hand corner clicking down. Talk about being nervous! I truly feel for this young lady. I was blessed in the fact that my son passed on the first try, but he really doesn't freak out at test time. I think that it is the fact that the girl would not get to walk in graduation. If they would allow these kids to walk and just not receive their diploma, then it may be a little easier to digest. The
  12. I would love to figure out how many of these that are complaining are the same ones that think putting a ###### highway in my front yard is a WONDERFUL idea!!
  13. I just wanted to acknowledge Kim in a public forum. Thanks so much for helping me with my school project. All of the information that you gave to me will help me greatly in achieving that "A" that I strive for. I know that you are extremely busy and I just wanted to let you know how much you are appreciated!!
  14. What side of town do you live on? Maybe that makes a difference. Sorry that I don't want a highway in my front yard. I paid way too much for my home and property to have a front yard view of asphalt and billboards or the calming lullaby of 18 wheelers going by.
  15. Thank you, I live about 1 mile from Roses Store. We love our quiet existence out here.
  16. I am sorry, this may be a great thing for those of you that live in the eastern part of the county, but those of us that live in the area that it sounds like this may come through, it stinks. I did not move out of Dallas to only be living within earshot of a stupid highway. As far as driving too far to get to work, oh well move closer to work. We are slowly ruining this county and I for one am tired of it. It is already quite a chore just to get through Hiram on a Friday or Saturday night and you want more progress?? This is why we go to Villa Rica and Carrollton to eat and spend our mone
  17. Yes I would really love to know the route they are thinking of because we live in southwest Paulding almost in Villa Rica. Just remember, along with this so called prosperity that it will bring to the county, it will also bring in higher crime rates because we will be that much closer to a highway that these criminals can jump on to make their get away. I remember 25 years ago when we moved to Paulding because it was such a nice, small welcoming community. Because of our leaders and builders that continued to build cheap housing, our county has taken a turn for the worst in my opinion. Thi
  18. My husband and I went through this last weekend at one of our favorite restaurants. There was a whole table of adults and two kids running around in and out of the tables. My husband looked at me and said "why do parents think it is ok to allow their kids to interfere with everyone else's dinner?" As far as disciplining your child, as long as you do not hit your child, twist their arms, or curse at them, then no one should say a thing to you. If kids cannot be corrected in a restaurant by just telling them to sit down or even if you have to quietly threaten them with a spanking when you ge
  19. Are you meaning that you get denied for Pell? That is completely different if so. You can make too much money for Pell, but not for the loans.
  20. I agree with Harlee. After going to a chiro for 2-3 months and I do not feel any better than I did the first day I walked in, then something has to change. I could barely mash the gas pedal to drive my car. You betcha I was all about finding an MD that was willing to give me something for the pain. I did undergo 4 epidurals before having surgery and they did help for a little while, but my back was too far gone by this time. I just don't feel that popping my neck is going to do a darn thing to help a pinched nerve in my back and it didn't. Actually it didn't do anything except make my ne
  21. I had a pinched nerve and a herniated disc in my back. I did go to a chiropractor for about 2 or 3 months before I did anything drastic. The problem that I had with the chiropractor is that they wanted you to come 2 or 3 times a week, check your alignment, lay down for 15 minutes and check it again. Believe me, laying down is not going to change my pain. I felt that it was a complete and total waste of my money and it didn't do one thing to help my pain. I ended up going to see Dr. Cha at Georgia Bone and Joint in Cartersville. He gave me my options and I chose to have surgery. My back
  22. I think that these are great quotes as I can see myself in several of them. When I started to college at 47, I was not quite sure of my abilities, but through hard work and a good attitude, I have been successful. Teachers can really pick up on that also.
  23. I think I heard someone say that P.B. Ritch is closing.
  24. Watching Supercross with my hubby and eating pizza!!
