For the most part you do not have to have your book the first day. Some of my teachers go over the syllabus and get right to work; some give extra credit if you have your book on the first day. But overall, I think you will be o.k. on the first day if you do not. I just ordered my sons books from textbooks.com and they will buy them back at great prices. I agree, I think that keeping those lines of communication open are huge. My son, though not perfect, always knows that he can come to me with anything. He is my world and he knows it. I do not have the Pell Grant, but a friend of mine did. When she started in school, she had to just purchase her books and then later she received her Pell money. She then would just hang onto that to help her purchase her books and supplies for the next quarter.

You should expect to spend, with that many classes, around $200 - $250 total including your Hope money. Also check the bulletin board in the student lounge. Sometimes other people will put their books from previous quarters on the board to sell. Just make sure that you are purchasing the correct books because last quarter they changed just about every book that we use.

Yea, the school will reopen on Monday morning. What you need to do is be at the bookstore about 8am. Inside there they will have all of the books set up for each class. Make sure that you take your course numbers (SCT100) with you because that is the way that they have the books set up in there. It is really a pain every quarter trying to get your books on the first day of class. I really wish that they would come up with a better system. My son goes to West Georgia Tech. Actually, you may want to check with a tax advisor. I started a new job this Summer and I claim married, 0. There were 2 paychecks that they did not take out any federal income tax at all. I called our payroll service and they informed me that it had to do with the Obama tax relief plan. No matter how you filed, you would not have as much taken out as in the past. I have had a herniated disc in my back for about 2 1/2 years. I am at my wits end and I am tired of being in constant pain. I have already had 4 epidural's and the last one did absolutely nothing for me. Has anyone had disc surgery? Who did you use and were you happy? Did they just shave the disc down? I have got to make an appt. with a surgeon, but I am scared to death to have this done!! I really need help in getting the best doctor that is available to do this for me. Thanks in advance!! I did not know this young man, but my son told me about this incident last night. My heart just broke. Sitting here writing this I am tearing up. You don't have to go to Cartersville. I live in south Paulding and I went to Carrollton. I got a job about 2 months ago after being on unemployment for 11 months. Thank you Jesus!!
