  1. The US is truly a giving nation - if the government would quit taking and misusing our money, we would be more so. I'm praying that if any "good" for the Haiti people can come of this, it will be that their country will be properly governed. There was no reason for this beautiful country and beautiful people to be living in the extreme poverty as they have been. If the U.N. wants to be useful - here's their chance. http://www.cbsnews.com/blogs/2010/01/15/taking_liberties/entry6101505.shtml
  2. We could pay more taxes and have more road maintenance equipment & personnel for the 2 to maybe 3 times a year we really need them......the rest of the year they could be lawn ornaments - lol!!!
  3. Paulding - Austin Bridge Rd., Cartersville Hwy (Hwy 61N), Sweetwater Church Rd., Ridge Rd., Winn Rd., Cohran Store Rd., Goldmine Rd., Macland Rd., Mulberry Rock Rd. Multiple traffic accidents reported in these areas as a result of icy roads.
  4. My Dad had open heart surgery this year and cannot/should not cut firewood. The wood he has is cut to 36" and does not fit into the fireplace. I thought I had someone who was supposed to schedule with my parents to cut the wood for them, but, lo and behold, to my surprise, my parents got out there and cut some themselves - using an old exercise machine to hold the wood and a chainsaw. They have enough for a week or so. My husbands work has been so demanding that he can't get out there to do it. I can't pay alot, but, I can pay. Is there anyone who does such a thing that would be willing
  5. We have a $5800 family deductible, $40 copay on office visits and $15 for generics and a "negotiated" amount on brand name prescriptions. Our monthly premium is going up April 1. Don't think it's a cadillac.....thinking more of a tricycle or unicycle.

  8. Mrsdave here I'd complained forever about not being able to find jeans anymore. A friend talked me into splurging (on a Tuesday were you get 10% off) at GAP for a pair of their Sexy Boot Cut.......I have worn these jeans basically every day since early October - washing them at night.....They are PERFECT. I bought the A (ankle) length (I'm 5'2" and just a smidge overweight - LOL) My birthday is in January and due to having a GAP card, I received a 25% off coupon so I plan to go splurge on another pair or two.....they're still very dark and fit so well!

He is the best....I have 9 years worth of picture ornaments on my tree with him......My son and I met him at Target this summer. He gave us his card. I know he thought I was nuts because I just had to follow him until he turned around.....I always cry when I see him - his eyes sparkle and he's just magic!
  10. Three years ago, I received a letter from my insurance company re: some gynecological procedures that were approved in a hospital 2 hours away from here. I called my insurance company and they said that this was a letter telling me I did not need a precertification letter and, in checking, found that I'd had said procedures and insurance payment was pending. Uhm....I think I'd know if I'd had procedures!!! So, it took about two weeks of people thinking I was nuts and we actually never knew how my insurance information ended up on this womans records - but, low and behold, there it was. Our
  11. (mrsdavidj6) Back in the early 80's when homes were being built that backed up to I-75 South (before sound barriers were installed), several of us girls in the office tried to be just past Paces Ferry at the same time every morning. A gorgeous man would step out of the shower and stand & shave/brush teeth/do hair in front of a huge mirror that was directly opposite of a huge window with no blind. There was NO WAY he didn't know he could be seen. Great show every morning for a bunch of single 20 somethings.....I never considered kids would see him, though. He did however, create a carp

  13. http://blogs.ajc.com/atlanta-bargain-hunter/2009/12/16/kroger-will-no-longer-accept-pg-digital-coupons/ In a battle over who needs whom the most, Kroger and manufacturer Procter & Gamble have come to an impasse and will part ways — in an Internet sense — at the end of the year, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution has learned. For consumers, it means that Kroger.com will no longer host the P&G eSavers electronic coupons on the grocery chain’s Web site and P&G digital coupons will no longer be valid on the Kroger Plus loyalty card. Makers of everything from Pampers to Pringles,
  14. Never intended to be SAHM, but, the doctor handed him to me and my first words were Honey, you were right, I can never leave him. He's 12 and I'm thinking of returning to something after the first of the year. I have never regretted quitting a very lucrative career and staying with him. Although, that first year was rough. Going from all working friends to meeting the SAHM's in the park or neighborhood. Once he started school, elementary needs you all the time. Now that he's in middle - much, much less so, hence maybe going back. Some of my friends have now gone back into the work force

  18. I guess part of my shock/surprise is that we know this is going on. We see news stories, we hear it from kids around us, yet, too many parents are in the "not my kid" place of life. I wrote an op/ed that was published in the MDJ a few weeks ago when the teachers group from Clayton county was picketing the elementary school at the corner of Stilesboro and Kennesaw Due West (can't think of the name) and I was blasted by responses of the kids needed to know what their principal was......Kindergarten thru 5th? I just don't think they need to be exposed to picketers with rude/crude signs outside

  20. A friend of mine was shocked with a $1100 phone bill recently.....her son had gone over his texts that much. I asked her didn't he seem to be texting quite a bit more than usual and she said, well, yeah, he always had it in his hand but I didn't think anything of it. She was offended when I explained how she could have checked his phone/account and headed this off. She pitched a fit with AT & T and they wrote the amount off. She said that's what AT&T should do. I didn't get it, but, I guess eventually I will when my AT&T bill increases for all of the write offs!! Mrsdavej
  21. I send this out all of the time.....this is direct from the Walter Reed web site: http://www.wramc.amedd.army.mil/Search/Results.aspx?k=any%20american%20soldier Holiday Cards to Wounded and Recovering Soldiers Walter Reed Army Medical Center cannot accept packages, letters, and holiday cards addressed to 'Any Wounded Soldier' or 'A Recovering American Soldier'. 22. I agree - I have a 12 year old boy - he is old enough to know how to treat a baby. Anything over 4 years old would know that you don't push a pacifier and/or bottle into a babys' mouth hard enough to cause the damage that was reported in one of the articles. And, to read that he was "skipping to the vending machine" just broke my heart. I have a feeling that whether we read about this child again or not - he will make news again before he's 18. I read where he will live with someone in Alpharetta so he can continue his counseling. I hope they have a good counselor. (Mrsdavej)
  23. My thoughts are simply with playing extremely physical sports when you are pregnant, falling and either causing early labor or death to the infant. That's my point. 20 year old married with 10 kids, I don't care......It's the unborn child. I think the school was stuck in the middle. If she played and was hurt, law suit....if she didn't play until doctors note, lawsuit.......
  24. We're with the others....as soon as the kids/grandkids/nieces/nephews, etc. are married, we get a "couples gift" until they have kids....then, they get nothing.....I don't think that's cruel since usually they don't buy anything for anyone other than "maybe" their parents...
  25. http://www.cnn.com/video/#/video/bestoftv/2009/12/09/pn.pregnant.teen.athletes.cnn Saw this this morning......I can't for the life of me figure out what these parents are thinking? Maybe money from the school system to care for the baby? I wouldn't want my pregnant teen playing volleyball....how bout you??
