  1. Guess I'm just remembering my own drivers ed class taught by a coach - who allowed us to flirt with him and loved it and passed us even though I never - to this day - learned to parallel park. He was more interested in being the popular coach than teaching us anything. Also, if my child takes music/art, etc. as an elective and excels at it, then I'm going to feel compelled to get outside classes to help him be the best at what he does. But, with all that said, each of us have our own opinions - so sometimes we just have to agree to disagree. However, maybe this will help some. This is at
  2. I know I'll get busted for this, but, school time should be spent on reading, writing, math, science, etc......not driving.
  3. Lost mine in July 1965 when I was 3 1/2.....car accident......God blessed me with a wonderful grandfather until 1973, then, my mom remarried in 1975 to a great man who has been very, very good to me and I love him and honor him every fathers day.....still....wonder what it would have been like to have my biological dad.......
  4. I graduated in '79 from Cobb and we paid, also.....I guess the having it in the school deal breaker for me is it has to come from tax money and, the government can't spend tax money properly as it is, so what costs $450 would probably cost $1000 per kid. The schools would have to purchase vehicles, maintain vehicles (tags, gas, storage so they wouldn't be stolen/vandalized, tires, oil changes, etc.) pay an exorbitant cost of insurance, pay for teachers certification to teach and pay the teachers.....then, if a student was injured or, God forbid, killed - the school system would be held liable
  5. Our sons' braces came off last fall after 2 years.......with the discount for no insurance, we were at $4900......We did have 3 estimates and they were within a couple hundred of each other, so I chose the one whose staff seemed the most friendly to him.....
  6. Target on Barrett Parkway had a now hiring sign on all of their doors yesterday....no details....
  7. AMEN SISTER! We loose too many to cancer and I just don't understand why we cannot find a cure........
  8. Davejwife here........I have absolutely NO pics of myself and people are always telling me that I should have some for my son. I take all the pics in the family - even in the extended family. We do have family pics every 3 years for the church director - but those are all the pics of me.......I'll be your test case! Where are you located?
  9. Please let me know as well......I'm interested in 2 or 3 (davejwife)
  10. The last time I rode thru, there was a couple putting a contract on one of the homes whose back faces Dabbs Bridge and either the first or second home on that street was a private residence. A friend of mine in Bentwater said her neighbor is buiding the one up over the hill on the far left - 1.2 mil. Our real estate agent has been selling homes in Cobb in the $500 and up range. She says that if you're under $200K or over $400K, the market is picking up slightly.
  11. Read it this morning in the MDJ obits.......My stepdad had him as a teacher at South Cobb and he was my principal at McEachern......Great man. Prayers go out to his family. (davidjwife)
  12. I grew up with Buddy (George, Jr.) and Caroline.....didn't really know Ben or Matt other than by name. Wonderful tribute, Subby. He was a good man. davidjwife
  13. Had a newer model red truck with large ladder pass me IN THE CURVES of Dabbs Bridge Road a few weeks back.....Probably doing 50 - 60 mph. Imagine my laughter (which I made sure the two "gentlemen" saw) as I pulled up behind them at the red light at Black Acre/Hwy 41 and as I eased around traffic turning left or going straight and I turned right......
  14. Trashed trailer would concern me......is that signs of a struggle? And, why is are they getting two Fed Ex deliveries in a row? Fed Ex in at a trailer two days in a row?? Wouldn't sound like struggling parents and stay at home jobs that require daily deliveries are usually well paid.....
