  1. With our Heath Savings Account, we are allowed to pay for OTC with money from the savings account (which deposits to it are tax deductible). Pretty much, at the bottom of the receipt, you see what is HSA acceptable....saline, aspirin, antibiotic cream, etc.
  2. I have to say that the census ad made absolutely no sense.....
  3. No Maybe a policy of leaving the bathroom door open and another adult present outside of the restroom? But, no cameras.
  4. This is why I haven't joined the fray on the topic. I was heartbroken to read about this lady & her dog & cried when I listened to the 911 tape. I've read all of the articles and have wondered the same thing. What happened in those 5 hours??? How did it take 5 hours for a fire that she was aware of to build and engulf the house. Why did she not call again? Not blaming her in the least because the firemen should have gotten out, knocked on the door and walked around the entire home, but, there are just too many unanswered questions.
  5. Gotta be New Orleans......I haven't been in years.....
  6. Don't get me started on my sister. She went thru a divorce, moved to Alabama and, when the kids left home, decided she was tired of taking care of everyone else - sooooo - at the ripe old age of 42, she is on disability, food stamps, Medicaid (working on getting Medicare & dropping Medicaid - yes, it can be done if you are "disabled"). She moved back here and said she didn't want to get a job yet, so, she hired and attorney that helped transfer all her "benefits" from Alabama to the Georgia system. She recently went to the health clinic in Paulding who sent her to DFACS and now she's ge
  7. That's just nuts.....I handle my parents Medicare/Supplemental and have for 7 years (since they started). Even after breast cancer & a triple bypass, they don't pay that much. (However, there is the donut hole - but even with that, they're still around $9,000 - I could get it down more, but, they want to be able to go to whatever doctors they want to see)
  8. http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2010/02/04/politics/main6173373.shtml Federal and state programs will pay slightly more than half the tab for health care purchased in the United States by 2012, says a report by Medicare number crunchers released Thursday. The report estimated that in 2009, the United States spent $2.5 trillion for health care, with government programs - mainly Medicare and Medicaid - paying $1.2 trillion. Employer health insurance and various private sources covered the other $1.3 trillion. Even as the economy shrank because of the downturn, health care spending grew b
  9. Wow....just Wow....is this necessary? Taxpayers might want to pay close attention to this Sunday's Super Bowl broadcast or they'll miss Uncle Sam's 30-second, $2.5-million reminder to stand up and be counted. That's what the Census Bureau paid CBS to get their message notched somewhere between a National Lampoon reprisal, a weird dude with big glasses, a beer-can house and men without pants. And, that's just a fraction of what the bureau plans to spend this year to get Americans to answer a simple, 10-question survey. The bureau is spending $133 million between January and May
  10. I'm so sorry you felt that way. I'll get flamed for this, but, much of this is overpopulation of our schools (I'm not talking about overcrowding - overpopulating) Just too many people in one place. Secondly, parents believing everything their child says. I've been in a classroom(volunteer), witnessed an issue, saw how it was handled by the teacher, then had the parent of one of the children stand and tell me what happened from her (childs) side. When I NICELY let her know that I had been at the school and witnessed the incident - she said I just didn't see/hear everything. I saw what
  11. One of my favorite scenes from the Three Musketeers Porthos: Athos, you can not fight this boy. Athos: Why not? Porthos: I'm fighting him. D'Artanyan: Not until one O'clock. Aramis: I have a duel with him too. D'Artanyan: Not until two O'clock. Athos: Well, let's get on with it then. We wouldn't want you to be late for your future engagments.(Athos removes his coverup and sees the tunic) D'Artanyan: You're a musketeer, (Porthos and Aramis remove there cloaks too.) You're all musketeers!
  12. if they don't live there - how did they get there? Freshmen with cars? And, what did they tell their parents - Hey, Mom, I'll be back in an hour - just gotta run over to Seven Hills for a scheduled school fight. How many kids was this???
  13. Why were there Allatoona freshmen at Seven Hills. That's North Paulding, right??
  14. I, too, think we have too many breaks. I think alot of our problems have to do with the size of the schools now. Think about it, how many adults leave their homes to spend all day confined with that many people with no control over who you are with. As an adult, if I don't like a co worker - I do have options. The best a kid has is to ask for seat reassignment or try to sit somewhere else - which can lead to other issues. Crowded hallways, bathrooms, lunchrooms, etc. There's just not enough personal space in some instances. Of course, with the mandates on how much land you must have
  15. How about this story - not Paulding - but encouraging a fight in elementary by adults??? edited: I can't get the link to work, but it's about a teacher & a parapro encouraging elementary kids to fight and it was found out by a parent who overheard his kid telling another kid that he had more people cheering him on - oh, and that the adults told them what to tell the school nurse. It's on foxnews.com
  16. Been an LGE member all of my life. Began bill pay as soon as it was avail about, oh, 9/10 years ago - never had a problem. I just looked (getting ready for taxes and all) and only wrote 18 paper checks last year. Even my church giving is on autopay LOL
  17. My thoughts exactly. So "I pay taxes for people to take my unwanted animals". You know, in this day and time of entitlement, I'm not really surprised there are idiots like this. Hopefully the guy won't procreate. Edited to say I went and read it and just wished they'd not printed the guys comments...just really, really makes me mad. "I pay my taxes so" - so my butt should be wiped - I don't know.....it's just really unsettling. No care/concern for what may be wrong, just thinking of himself.
  18. Last I heard, the Laniers that own Georgia Paintball on Barrett Parkway were reopening their place over by Bentwater.....Might call the store and ask.
  19. Here's my grandmothers recipe.....everyone loves this when I make it. 1 stick of butter 2 squares bakers chocolate (semi sweet) 1 cup sugar 2 eggs beaten 1 teaspoon vanilla dash of salt Melt butter & chocolate together - stirring constantly, mix with other ingredients that have all been blended together and pour into an unbaked piecrust. Bake 35 minutes @ 350.
  20. sorry....just reading the paper for the day
  21. 22. I have a 75 year old aunt with her 13 & 10 yo grandchildren - had them for 7 years now. My cousin is raising his 12 year old grandchild because both of her parents got mixed up in drugs-the mom killed herself with a gun 4 years ago, the dad with an overdose 3 years ago. Another aunt raising two of her great grandchildren while her granddaughter keeps popping out new kids and is right now in a battle with the mother of one of the fathers. I don't get what's happened to society. They're all doing the best that they can, but, honestly, the 75 year old does NOT need these kids.
  23. 11 Alive did a story on the "new gold rush" the week before Christmas and had a coupon to make 20% more at a place at Bells Ferry/Hwy 41. I took 2 broken/kinked/unusable necklaces and an anklet given to me years ago by an old boyfriend. I walked out with a check for $300. They simply looked at the clasp to see the 14K, weighed it, I filled out a form and they copied my license and handed me a check. Less than 10 minutes in the place. I was happy & surprised!
  24. I know people will freak at the name of this. Our church hosts the "Created by God" seminar for 5th graders every year.....we put my son thru it a couple of years ago. It's a very informative, comprehensive program. You can buy the book thru Barnes & Noble, Amazon, etc. Nothing is held back. Lots of parents learn every year - LOL. From the website: Created by God brings together fifth and sixth graders, their parents, and adult leaders for a faith-filled, comprehensive study of human sexuality—anatomy, growth and development, reproduction, and God’s call to intimacy and responsibil
