  1. Absolutely! If you want the parents to pay, then tell the parents you have a couple of buy one get one free coupons and ask them if they want a coupon and to schedule a time when you can all go together so the kids can play.
  2. This isn't for fostering, but I have a friend that works with New Horizons for Children - it's a program that brings orphans from Eastern European countries to the U.S. for about 8 weeks during the summer and at Christmas. They are always looking for host families, even those not considering adoption. Here is a link to their website: www.newhorizonsforchildren.org
  3. Here is a direct link to the article - it's about the Five Below stores opening in the Atlanta area. http://www.bizjournals.com/atlanta/news/2012/05/30/five-below-opening-7-atlanta-stores.html
  4. Congrats to the Mrs.!! I'm looking forward to hearing her ideas for our community!
  5. You still have 26 minutes.... I honestly believe we need a choice in these elections.
  6. I thought you were talking about throwing your hat into the ring? You have until noon to get to the elections office....
  7. The rate of Home sales may have increased, but so have foreclosure rates....
  8. You are exactly right which is why I'm basing my vote on the specific decisions of the Board.
  9. And when you don't feel like the people you elected to do the job are doing that, you vote for someone else.
  10. But what are those reasons? We saw a fruitbasket turnover when Hutchens was opened to fill that vacancy - teachers were reassigned and were told that the decisions were final (unless they wanted to find another job). Now, we see multiple admins getting moved around for next year with little or no explanation to the parents, just that it is happening. There may be a perfectly good reasons for this, but our current board doesn't communicate those reasons - the meet in executive session to make or approve these decisions and we don't hear what the rationale is. I'm also a little concerne
  11. True, but every school system has the ability to set standards of excellence and to adhere to them. I understand the furlough days and higher insurance costs, but when you consistently change school administrators and lose good teachers to other counties, there is a bigger problem. It's not just pay - there is something else wrong in this county. If you have a job that you love and feel appreciated, you are less likely to jump ship just for money (and these are teachers so the money isn't that great to begin with).
  12. I don't have a dog in this fight since we've decided to send the princess to private school, but I agree that some changes need to be made in our school board. I'm not saying that they have done a bad job because I haven't been to any of the board meetings and I'm not sure what they have discussed in their executive sessions, BUT, when you have admins flip flopping all over the county and disgruntled parents who are active in the schools worrying about the quality of their kids' educations, that tells me that there are bigger issues that we can't see.
  13. You could be getting an infection. Watch your temperature - if you start running a fever or if the pain gets worse, call them and go in right away.
  14. Me too - awesome guy and I know that he would do a great job.
  15. When Rich's was in business, we bought a set of Belguique stainless steel cookware. It is wonderful!! I use it on my gas stove and you just simply have to get used to it. If I am frying something that I know is going to stick (which I very rarely do), I use my Caphalon frying pan. However, for making sauces, cooking veggies, pot roasts, etc. - I always use my stainless steel. Clean up isn't that horrible, if something sticks, just add some hot water and let it soak and then use Barkeepers Friend to make it shine - my set looks new and it's almost 20 years old.
  16. I'm very sorry - I'm praying for you!!
  17. It's still $500... In this economy, every penny helps so kudos to the Paulding GOP for providing this scholarship to such a deserving student!!!
  18. On this site and on other social media sites, I've found that typing my initial response and letting it sit for a bit helps. While my initial reaction may be to respond negatively, I type it out and then go back and read it after I've calmed down. In just about every case, I take out the negativity and stick to the facts. I can tell you that the Bible says to "do unto others," but I try to live it instead. Insulting someone just because they disagree with my opinion is childish IMO so I try to stay away from it.
  19. Only if you like them to take like they have been cooked in a smoker - I don't (I know they smoke their prime rib, I'm not sure if they smoke all of them, but it certainly tastes that way). They have lots of other good options, but steak just isn't one of them IMO.
  20. I'm truly hoping the Mayor of Villa Rica doesn't veto this. Using a cell phone for talking, texting or anything else while you are driving is a distraction and I applaud the city of Villa Rica for taking a stand. I'm hoping several other cities and counties will jump on the bandwagon and do the same!
  21. You can also submit your passport paper work to the Superior Court Clerk's office at the Courthouse.
  22. It sounds like you have a employment related question about the ADA and not a question about getting disability started with Social Security. Everyone here seems to have differing opinions... But, if you feel like you are being discriminated again, you should contact an attorney, I can get you the name of an attorney in Atlanta if you are seriously considering pursuing your claims, just send me a PM. Do not use someone who advertises on TV - one call does not do it all. Also, you can file a charge of discrimination with the EEOC without an attorney. Go to EEOC.gov to get more information.
  23. Freedom of speech means freedom for everyone to speak, not just those who post politically correct messages. You may or may not like the message, but they do have a right to post them.
