  1. Actually, I had the reverse happen with being in a Baptist church.
  2. My husband and I agree that God comes first in our lives. NOT church, but our faith and belief in God. Would I give up my God if my husband asked me to? No. Would I give up my church if my husband asked me to? Yes, and I did. Until we joined our current church, I was a Methodist, now I'm a Baptist.

IMO, the perception of a conflict arises because he owns the ambulance company that has the county's contract for emergency services while he is serving as the county's coroner. Again, there may be no conflict and Clark's Ambulance Service may have legitimately won the bid to be the county's service provider, but it can be perceived differently.

Just out of simple curosity - WHY? I don't have any issues with the guy, nor any opinion on how he does the job, so I'm just curious as to what makes him the best person for the job? (Just as I wonder what makes Eberhart the best person for the job).
  5. I agree!! Like the candidates or not, we need to take the time to get to know the people we are voting into office!
  6. Is there some way to fix this - I opened this post and noticed that it also has an interview with JK Rogers attached to it, but the title doesn't say that it does (so I only expected to hear the interview with Michael James).
  7. This is so sad -- praying for this family. I can't even imagine what they are going through and I pray that I will never find out.
  8. Do we know if a hearing has been scheduled yet? According to the Secretary of State's website: Upon the motion of the Secretary of State to challenge a candidate, or the filing of a challenge by a voter, the Secretary of State shall notify the candidate in writing that a challenge has been filed, the reasons stated for the challenge and advise that a hearing before an administrative law judge has been requested on the matter and that the candidate will be informed of the date, time and place of the hearing. The Secretary of State shall make a determination as to whether the candidat

The coroner is an elected position in which ANYONE can run - you do not have to be a funeral director.
  11. I've got to call you on this one, my friend. Not only was notice proper (as you can easily see on PACER, Carruth's attorneys filed for TWO extensions of time to respond to the Motion for Default. (See below). 2/9/12 - A Joint Motion to Extend Time for Filing a Response was filed by the parties. 2/13/12 - Extension granted 2/29/12 - Motion for Extension of Time for Filing a Response filed by the Carruths 2/29/12 - Extension granted through 3/20/12 After two extensions, Carruth still did not file a response to the Motion for Default, nor did they anything alleging that

The only issue that I have with Sam Clark is that it bothers me that the County Coroner also has the county's contract for ambulance services... It just appears to be a conflict of interest.
  13. Actually, I think mortgage companies are returning to that. Lending terms were tight back when we bought our house - there was no special mortgage practices out there to get people into homes that they couldn't afford or were unqualified to get. We had to go to Bank of America and apply for and qualify for a mortgage (and had to wait for underwriters to approve it). Lenders are going back to that principal and not lending money to people who don't qualify for it anymore.
  14. Hey, that was an appropriate response to someone who starts the post by saying "I'm withholding judgment.."
  15. I haven't been by because I thought you were already closed!! What hours will you be open tomorrow?
  16. Seriously, there is no need to lie. Say that "__________ doesn't live here so you have the wrong number. Do not call here again." Then hang up. No need to carry on a long explanation or listen for their response - keep it short and sweet.
  17. I agree - we have had great service from Waste Industries.
  18. BS! When we bought our first house, I made about $12 an hour. Hubby was making practically nothing because he was self employed and stuggling to just make a $100 a week. You can buy a really nice house for a lot less now than you could then - you just have to be willing to work to make it happen.
  19. That's why it's important that kids learn how to SAVE money and not live above their means. DH and I spent a year saving as much as we could scrape together when we bought our first house. We also had to have spotless credit (which meant not having a dozen maxed out credit cards). ETA: Actually, you know what, the more I think about it, this article is probably right. It is a "distant dream." We've taught our kids that they are entitled to own a home and that they don't have to worry about their credit or whether or not they can afford it.
  20. If she's symptomatic for a stroke - send her to the ER immediately (in fact, have her call an ambulance). If her blood sugar is merely high, unless she goes into diabetic shock or passes out, she's going to go to the ER and sit for hours until she can be seen. Any disease with long term treatment is tough when you don't have insurance so I hope you can work something out for her. Praying for your mom!!
  21. Why not have her take the results to a diabetes specialist so they can start working to get her on the meds to get it regulated? If you are paying for her, I'm sure the doctor's office will accept a credit card payment from you over the phone. That has to be cheaper than an ER visit....
  22. Home ownership is a distant dream? When you can buy a house with 1800 square feet in Paulding County for about $40-60,000 - how is that a distant dream??? If these kids don't wake up and see that now is the time for them to buy, then let them stay in an apartment - they're not ready for reality.....
  23. And they have your number and they know that you talk to her. They will continue to call until you tell them that they have the wrong number and for them NOT to call you anymore. Until you stop engaging in a conversation with them, they're not going to stop calling. AND, since they have her number, she obviously isn't talking to them - if she were, then they wouldn't be calling you....
