  1. The new school years brings about new activities for your children: sports, band, youth groups, Girl/Boy/Cub Scouts, etc. Though so many of these programs are drop and go, parents PLEASE REMEMBER that most of these programs are volunteer lead. These programs need YOUR HELP in order to survive and be successful. It is understandable for those who have too much on their plate already, but please know that the BEST programs available for your kids are ones with high parent involvement. Think of it as an opportunity to bond closer with your child and giving back to your community. Keepi
  2. Could it possibly be they had NO IDEA there was extra money in the machine, bought their groceries, asked for cash back, stuffed money in their wallet and left? I know I do this, and I usually have enough $$ in my wallet that an additional $60 would look like it had been there all along. Advice: Don't assume.
  3. I always said one of the benefits of living in New Hope is the strong presence of police force. I'd never want that to change.

    Mexican

We went tonight and it was delicious! We arrived about 5pm ... yes we like to eat early and it is to our advantage when going out to eat. Service was perfect and very friendly. Fresh pico de gallo, fresh guacamole, etc. I had the Totopos Fajitas ... the meat all cooked perfectly. (Great Margaritas to boot!) I look forward to returning.

    ob/gyn

Not a fan of Marietta OBGYN. I have had issues for years, nothing they were able to solve. They also ROYALLY ticked me off when I showed up for a procedure consult (at Kennestone Hospital). When I finished I was in the waiting room for my 2nd appt which was the procedure pre-op. The nurse called me on my cell phone and asked me to come back after lunch b/c they were backed up. I told her: "I'm sitting in the waiting room, why didn't you come out and tell me?" I saw why. All these pregnant women waltzing into the office late b/c they had no idea where they were going. I'm not mad at the
  6. I'm very sorry to hear you are going through this. I do not have any problems myself. My father has endured at least 20 years of back pain. 10 years ago he had a spinal fusion and just this past year he had 2 artificial disks replace what was left of those disks (also has degenerative disk disease.) I took care of him after his recent surgery, and you have no idea how much better he feels. He felt immediate relief right after the surgery, just had to deal with the recovery. The one thing I have have learned is this: medicine/doctors/hospitals are a business before they are anything el
  7. I c a n n o t i m a g i n e! Oh that is just so sad. My thoughts are with the families.
  8. We plan to short sale our house when the time comes. No way in heck we would deal with renting it out. It's down $60k. The part that ticks me off is that the home still needs to be insured for how much it would cost to rebuild, which is far more than the assessment.
  9. I think men develop this early in life to female sounds that don't stroke their ego.
  10. You don't know all the circumstances surrounding the marital relationship. While we all pretend marriage is a bowl of cherries 100% of the time when we look at other couples, so many know it is not true for their own marriage. I have a close relative who grieved for a very short period of time before she began dating again. Her marriage was not the best, the intimacy stopped b/c the sickness was all-consuming, the emotional detachment was slowly creating a larger buffer by the day. She stuck through it for him and took excellent care of him. She should be able to do as she pleases. It'

  12. I hate to say it, but you might just have to get mad at her to her face. She'll either hate you or respect you more, but at least she will know your boundaries. BTW, I think my MIL has her mouth open in most pictures (including wedding.) Don't you love it when you interject and they talk louder/over you out of excitement? We should get them together and record their lunch session. LOL
  13. I believe many doctors push narcotics onto patients because that is the best care that ONE particular doctor can give. It's not that they don't want to tackle the real problem with surgery referrals, but because of the amount of red tape the patient must go through with their insurance in order to obtain the surgery. It's as though the insurance company deliberately puts the patient through stress in order for them to give up. Just ask the elders who are deemed "too old" for surgery. They pop those pills like candy.

  15. Psst, yes and you'll never hear me suggest they hit their kid.
  16. I wasn't spanked, but that's probably because both of my parents were abused. Thank god they didn't do to me what happened to them.
  17. Be careful thinking you are part Native American. Family often insulted each other stating things like: "You must have Indian Blood" (derogatory) during the days of intense racism. Some just may have taken it literal.
  18. I love the justifications. Children are learning more than ever to be desensitized to violence in today's society, that is what is making them dumber and more aggressive. It is also lack of parental involvement to decrease violence, modify behavior and increase compassion. Just ask the rest of us who see many latch-key kids home alone and witness what they are doing.
  19. I would love to see the video you took of the "hail cloud"! Share?
  20. Interesting! ETA: Dallas-area historical tornado activity is above Georgia state average. It is 167% greater than the overall U.S. average. Read more: http://www.city-data.com/city/Dallas-Georgia.html#ixzz1o5ZzZWgq
  21. I have a fascination for the history of mental health care, problems diagnosed then vs. now and what has shaped our changing mental health industry. What I didn't know is that Sybil is what caused MPD to be entered into the DSM-IV as a diagnosable problem. This book looks at other explanations why Sybil acted the way she did and if she even had a problem at all (due to lack of ethics practiced by the psychiatrist and other biological health problems.) Anyway, I don't want to spoil it. So far it's a good read!
