Did you not get a copy of your bi-laws when you closed on the house? Did you not read through them? Did you have no clue what an HOA was before you bought into it? Why do you think you are supposed to get something in return? Do you pay for a clubhouse, pool, etc? Are your green-spaces manicured? Is your neighborhood adequately maintained (street signs, etc)? If you have a problem with the way your HOA is handling things, become a board member.

I wanted to throw another facet out there related to this incident. Children were not protected by law until 1974 under the Child Abuse Prevention and Treatment Act. Incidents were most likely not reported to police because with community habit, the police never got involved prior. This law gave grants to state services and nonprofit organizations to set up programs to help these children ... we all know that doesn't happen overnight. Procedures take a long time to iron out, and to this day there are still wrinkles.

There are so many procedures that have been implemented by BSA in order to protect the children. I see awareness as a good thing, regardless of the program. It forces change in a positive manner. BSA is a GREAT program and opportunity for boys. This kind of thing can happen in any program involving children. You can do a background check on an adult, but unless there is a criminal history behind someone how would they know they are a perpetrator? They don't. They rely on the eyes and ears of all kids and adults around. It's a scary fact.

What all of this means to the rest of us is that the housing market is becoming more competitive and better. My neighbors have an immaculate home and sold it for a small amount over their mortgage price. They had 2 offers within 24 hours. Pretty soon, those of us who have to relocate in the near future might not have to worry abut short selling our homes. Yay! Sorry about your relative tho.

These days no one can offer an opinion about something without someone getting offended. I don't think he was verbally attacking the woman. His suggestion was a bit distasteful and rude. I visited a store that had jelly and dip samples. Above each was a small glass dish sealed tight with plastic wrap. Inside was Apple Cider Vinegar. There are a couple tiny holes poked in the plastic wrap. I was amazed at how many fruit flies these little traps caught. I get these pesky bugs from time to time, so I thought I would try it out. Behold, my first victim within 5 minutes!

Your dominating the conversation in this thread is not going to change minds. Aside from that, being in my 30s things are great and are only going to get better. Time = paying off bills, having money to spare and looking forward to a significant pay increase within a couple years that has NOTHING TO DO WITH THE CURRENT GOVERNMENT. My in-laws are doing great and they are in their 60s. They've had to make some adjustments, but both will be retired next year.
