  1. lol Just be glad they say 'you're welcome' instead of 'no problem' or worse 'you're fine' as if you had apologized to them...I was taught to be polite and say thank you basically whenever I transact business with someone, but I stopped thanking people for letting me spend my money on their goods or services awhile ago, just to see how often they do thank me for my business. Let me just say it occurs infrequently at best. But if I don't say it, their failure to do so is much more obvious. Sometimes the best way to get your point across is to not say or do anything at all...
  2. This particular property isn't in Hiram, is it?
  3. Yeah I was going to say I almost feel as if I should know who this terrible neighbor is. I imagine they have made quite a reputation for themselves.... Sad to think any judge would allow this kind of dangerous and criminal behavior to take place anywhere.
  4. Cobb Emergency Clinic used a place in Chamblee for my MJ. Wasn't cheap but I was well satisfied with the service they provided. I can't think of the name now, but it included a return trip to the clinic. I am sorry for the loss of your pet (and Chindog's as well) It's always tough, and at least for me, even more around the holidays.
  5. Yum. While I don't get into Christmas AT ALL I absolutely love to cook for New Year's Day. Honestly I think it rivals Thanksgiving dinner as THE meal I look forward to most every year. And this year I have some really nice collards growing for just that purpose. Debbie Downer will not be having store bought collard greens this New Years Day
  6. That is probably part of the underlying cause of a higher than normal number of accidents - more people out and about doing all the stuff they need to do with too many different things on their mind. And cell phones. Unfortunately that problem is with us year-round.
  7. It helps to shake the wrinkles out of clothes before drying. I try to find the minimum amount of time it takes to dry various fabrics and not exceed it, because over-drying can set any wrinkles remaining in the clothes. I have a couple items that require pressing but for the most part my clothes are wrinkle free out of the dryer if I take them out promptly. I would also not use the highest heat setting - I use medium heat on a timed cycle, rarely more than 30 minutes, for a load of my work clothes. If you take them out and they are somewhat wrinkly, you can also keep a bottle t
  8. Least favorite: ALL The Grinch song is ok (surprise!)
  9. It's also a good idea to be sure nothing has spilled out into your trash can and if so, wash it out well with soap. Even small amounts of food can attract them.
  10. It's ridiculous that our personal data fuels the biggest industry going today. Even worse that we not only tolerate it, but provide the data ourselves willingly. One day we will wake up to find that our acceptance of the slow erosion of our rights has robbed us of what once made America such a great country - freedom.
  11. That's a good idea with the mousetraps if precautions are taken to cover the traps well and the animal is large enough that if it did come into contact with a trap it wouldn't cause an injury. If I had a home full of nice things I would probably be less forgiving...
  12. That ^^ I have two dogs so I'm outnumbered anyway. If I take them to someone else's house, it is generally a very brief visit and they stay outdoors with me or in the truck. For the most part my stuff is old enough that a dog isn't going to do much harm, anyway. I rather not spend my time worrying about who (or what) might sit on my furniture - but that's just me. I know I am the exception in that regard, not the rule.
  13. Thanks for sharing your photo album with us - you really get around!
  14. When the police are acting more like armed robbers during traffic stops, taking people's money and belongings just because they can, it's expensive and cumbersome to fight their actions and apparently nobody is going to stop them, something is terribly wrong in the law enforcement community in general. These killings are illustrative of excess force, period.
  15. No more so than others on this site, from time to time...not a big deal, that's how it goes when most people spend their leisure time on the 'net discussing much of what passes for news these days.
  16. Never a good idea to pay someone before they finish a job. Ever. If someone does work and won't complete it without advance payment, so be it. At least you won't be without your money when they leave the work unfinished.
  17. I appreciate these glimpses into aspects of the tragedy that many of us otherwise wouldn't know, and like this particular detail, wouldn't have ever guessed, either.
  18. LOL Ebola is only transmitted by contact with the bodily fluids of an infected person who is symptomatic. Funny how some facts you like and some you don't. Most anything seems safe until it becomes a direct threat to the one for whom it is a consideration, just as that thing may be 'least impactful' on the environment - until something happens that makes it otherwise. Problem is, by then it's usually too late.
  19. Pretty sure the prevailing sentiment these days is that anything is justified if it involves a/your kid. Completely different from the bad old days of my childhood...heck by the time I was 12 I was responsible for getting myself as well as my sister up and ready in time to be on the bus every morning. If I forgot to bring something I needed to school - including lunch/lunch money - too fricken bad. No way would my mother ever chase down the bus so she could give it to me. I can't even imagine such a thing...
  20. Wonder who actually wrote the letter? It says King is a fraud and a 'great liability to all of us Negroes' If Hoover was supposed to have been the author, well, let's just say I wouldn't take it too much to heart to be called abnormal by this particular 'man'....
  21. Not sure about the best price but the pecans sold at the library are the biggest and best looking pecans around and also the best-tasting...well last year's were, anyway.
  22. I imagine if it were your 17 year old daughter you might react differently than if it happened to you, an adult who has no idea what it's like to be unable to go out in public unless accompanied by another person or a service dog. She can't drive, and may not ever be able to. Anyone with the authority to ask someone to leave a business should know the law and when NOT to do so. Unfortunately, it appears this type action is necessary in order to persuade businesses to properly train employees since they often do not even know the proper response to the words "Thank You" from a custome
  23. Think I'll take your word for it - not interested in anything Rush- Bag of Wind -Limbaugh has to say. About any subject. Maybe a better way to say it is that the government & military allowed it to happen - I don't believe for one minute their hands are completely clean.
