  1. Believe what you want... I saw the pitiful bird, and the owner was aghast. But since you ask about PR - there's a groundswell of folks concerned about the source of their foods. Has nothing to do with PETA - if the poultry industry wants to upgrade it's image, start with a campaign showing healthy living conditions for the birds. Birds allowed to live on natural habitats, eating proper feed, low stress environments - just a few ideas. Once upon a time, the local farmer raised animals in the sunlight. Then the almighty dollar took over, and the food industry changed. But there's a movement now
  2. My prayers for your Mom, you & your family are sent... May she recover quickly-
  3. I don't understand the answer here... He was 2 yes old when he died. Is that old? And why didn't her other chickens gain excessive weight? Are you saying they just continue to gain excessive weight until they die from imploding? Never heard that before...
  4. I do have a question for you... Several years ago a friend of mine rescued a chicken that had fallen off a truck. We thought it was a hen, named it Peaches. Well, Peaches grew & grew. We learned that Peaches was a rooster. We changed it's name to Harvey. Harvey kept growing... 25 lbs., kept growing. Harvey finally died - collapsed from his weight - close to 50 lbs. my friend said... What made him grow so big? My friend raises chickens & had never witnessed anything like this, but that bird was on his way to processing... She lives in Rockmart -

  6. Yes, I care - I will not buy any meat/poultry produced by factory farming. And I prefer buying from local farmers, if possible.
  7. This morning I blended pineapple, oranges, a frozen banana & turnip greens (fresh) - I like citrus for a base... Another good blend is 2 bananas, flax oil, flax seeds, protein powder, peanut butter & cherries... I go a little crazy when they come in season ( I think May)
  8. We're into smoothies right now - green smoothies. It may sound weird, but I'm blending 60% fruit and 40% greens. The fruit masks the greens for the most part, and they taste delicious. I've dropped 10 lbs. & our blood pressures have returned to normal. One of the best ones is mango & spinach - very tasty...
  9. The winter hours are 9-12... April 30th is the grand opening for spring/summer and the hours will then be 8-12. Their website is www.tdfm.org - There's only about 7-8 tents, but don't let that fool ya - they're packed with good stuff.
  10. What fun! It's great talking to the local folks who grow/make my food... My haul includes freshly picked turnip greens and collards, look at the size of those onions, homemade pizza - wheat bread (they grind their own wheat), spinach & tomato focaccia bread, sausage & eggs (free range, no cages for these animals), homemade pepper relish & pickle relish. There was more to choose from but I ran out of money... if you haven't stopped by, give it a try (old courthouse parking lot on Sat am)
  11. I actually have some pieces of the Berlin Wall - I was dating a guy who visited the site as the wall was coming down & folks were chipping pieces off... I guess he was a "wall woodpecker". I saved them to make some special jewelry pieces-
