this report lasts about 11 minutes and includes the notice that the county HOPES, for instance, to lift the boil ban sometime late tomorrow afternoon... but the boil order remains in effect (they've sent folks to various parts in the county to get water samples for testing and the results will be back tomorrow afternoon ... but until they get a 'clean bill of health' ... the boil order remains in effect. pubby

I will suggest that you need to check out the damage at Paulding Meadows. Paulding Meadows has traditionally flooded with some damage when any 'extra large rain' comes and this flood was no exception. While the meeting pavilion was not impacted or the rodeo or rodeo parking, the area of the festival - the buildings, bridges and the like - were flooded and even significant portions of the paths through the park were washed away. The point being that the event location will need some work or possibly a change of venue to White Oak park. Just a heads up. pubby

no, it is not password protected. I suspect you have clicked on the top right of the forum to hide subforums. If you'll click around on the grey bar on the right, you'll probably see it and the tonk 'magically' appear (they are just 'hidden' kind of like a file folder's subfolders are hidden; it is just the button is on the top right (kind of like a Mac). pubby

NO School Thursday - Boil order still in effect Just a reminder that the Paulding Schools will not be in session although we have heard that the staff are supposed to report at 8 am Thursday morning. This suggests that school will resume on Friday although there is no word on that. The boil order remains in effect and we have not heard any estimate when the order will be lifted. Water damage at the county's administrative and judicial complex was minimal. We'll have a report on that in Friday's Paulding.com News. pubby

Do you need urgent / immediate Help at your house?
gpatt0n replied to Handy Hubby Steve's topic in Business NEWS
Steve: One thing you might do is check out this Samaritans Purse Disaster. I think they probably need volunteers and would be quite interested in your skills. -
LPPT: I'm innocent; that is my story and I'm sticking with it pubby

WFAL ... I don't doubt that you took it that way. That was not its intention. Rather it was playing with and inspired by the term "cockalorum" ... which is a new word in my vocabulary ... I might add. Here's the listing for chicken from thesaurus.com: Anyway, anytime you find a new word, you are supposed to use it a few times in different contexts to make it yours. Thanks for giving me the opportunity to do so. pubby PS: Do you giggle and have 'thoughts' when someone says cock-a-doodle-doo? Do you blush when the KFC guy asks you if you; "do you want a breast and

Holy breast meat! batman; let's go to the Crazy Cockalorum! pubby

We may have more who are temporarily closed because of the boiling water notice. pubby PS: Did you notice that on their sign they changed the name from El Pollo loco (it is still there) but they now have "Crazy Chicken" in big letters. Hence I can no longer in good conscious use the name "crazy chicken" in referencing them. Looked up chicken in the thesaurus and found this term as being a synonym for chicken: cockalorum ... so from now on until they buy a biz membership, the mods and members are encouraged to refer to them not as the crazy chicken or el pollo loco but the cocka

OFFICIAL NOTICE: NO PLAN TO CUT OFF WATER (EVER) Deputy Brandon Gurley, who is the most accessible person in Paulding Government, reports he has spoken with county administrator Mike Jones and that Jones is saying that neither he nor the county water director Michael Carter have ever indicated that the Paulding County water supply as a whole would be cut off. Deputy Gurley goes on to say there are a few isolated areas where the water service has been interrupted due to water main breaks. "Crews are working to restore water in those areas," he wrote in an email late Tuesday evening.

I'm told the traffic light at the Regions bank on 92 and either Oak or Seaboard is out as a result causing a tie up. Told also that the train that is blocking Main Street in downtown Hiram may not be moving for another day. Finally, Mayor Rollins and other city and county officials are on their way to a meeting at 5 p.m. at the new admin building to go over the various issues caused by the emergency. (Oh and it is an emergency. It was declared at noon yesterday - see the attached PDF.) We will have an new edition of the PCOMTV Paulding.com News starting at 6 p.m. ... CLICK HE

PCOMTV Live at Seven today We're out talking to folks and doing some interviews as we prepare for the aftermath of the Flood of 09. I expect updates on flood and gas spill at Hiram-Sudie road and 92, shots of some of the locations shown yesterday where the water has receeded and an interview with Mike Jones, County Administrator who has a comprehensive reading and can tell us of the nature and scope of whatever disaster relief that is coming. We're going to try and have this NOW by 7 pm tonight although you may start trying the PCOMTV. (We're going to get on as soon as we hav

I think that if the water is clear and you've not had an outage or low pressure, the water is probably fine for all uses but drinking (that would include diswashers). If the water is dirty or cloudy, then I would not use the diswasher at all. pubby

Let me be clear. THERE WAS NO FLOODING at the courthouse. I would have corrected this topic yesterday had I had time and seen it. (but it got buried for good reason). I don't know how extensive the leaks are/were and expect to follow up on that later but THERE WAS ABSOLUTELY NO FLOODING ... i.e. encroachment of rising waters on the structure or even parking areas. Even in this circustance, there was adequate drainage and reports to the contrary are WRONG! pubby

ADDENDUM FROM HIRAM: Hiram City reports that the city of Hiram is without power. This is a concern for city of Hiram residences that use well water. The well pumps will be out due to the power. They will need to be reminded to boil their water while using county water.-- Corporal Brandon Gurley ADDENDUM FROM CITY OF ACWORTH: The City of Acworth is experiencing severe traffic issues. The most serious is Cobb Parkway at Park Forrest Drive between Acworth Due West and Loring Road. Water has washed over the roadway causing the road to be closed until the Georgia Department

Thanks surepip and folks. I'm still coming down from the biggest day in pcom history. Let me throw a few statistics at you. We advertise 10,000 visits a day. Today we have over 22,000 visits. We say we have over 1 million 'hits' a day ... we had over 3 million hits today. We say we deliver about 150,000 pages a day ... today we were two thousand shy of a half-million pages. Typically, our traffic on our main server as reported is about three-to-five gigabytes of traffic or bandwidth depending on the day. We've never hit 10 gigabytes of traffic on the main
