I just put them back... so to speak. When we were setting records, serving that second and sometimes third ad at the bottom and middle of the topics literally was doubling the time the site took to load. I've just put back visible skins with the banners at the top and bottom. So it should be fixed. pubby PS: I was missing that option too. I often do that after replying to a topic as well as when I finish reading a topic.

The local authorities have asked for the county to be declared a disaster area by the governor. The process is pretty straightforward and involves reports from FEMA/GEMA estimating the damage due to the natural disaster. So how is some rain a disaster? Well, the reality is the downpour relates to what one might believe is the 100-year flood for the area. This is another way of saying that the rains and impacts that we're experiencing are not at all normal. The plain fact of the matter is that the 100-year flood is a natural disaster. We will likely have some disruptions in tr

BOIL WATER ORDER - NO SCHOOL TUESDAY While there was much mayhem, more than a few questionable bridges and worrisome dams ... the most important two notices from today were simply: Boil your water before using it for consumption for humans and animals. You can go ahead and wash hands (not in boiling water) and even bath in the water but don't drink it for coffee or tea from the tap as there have been issues for the boil water order to be issued at 7:15 p.m. today. And of course, it is absolutely official there is no school in Paulding County on Tuesday. pubby Click

Don't be surprised if the look of the site changes here shortly. I am changing the skin used for the site to limit the number of ads shown as the adserver is the key holdup. By dropping the number of ads delivered, this should let the adserver catch up. I will be limiting the number of skins available for use and changing the default. When things return to normal, we'll reinstitute the other skins. pubby

Thanks: I do pretty good. I forgot to mention that the authorities were keeping folks away from that location because when you get close, you'll smell gasoline. Gasoline being lighter than water, is leaking from the tanks, apparently, and is creating quite a fire hazard at that Grands. pubby

After the show, went out and got this photo taken showing the flooding at The Grands store in Hiram at 92 and GA 120 Connector (aka: Hiram Sudie Rd.). This is the point that GA 92 was flooded. The photo was taken just before midnight - Doesn't look like it I know but it was a frame capture from the video I was shooting taken during a lightening flash. Pretty good flash. Note the car with water up to the windows. Powder Springs police were blocking traffic on US 278 about 1.4 miles east of the Paulding County line. Both Seabord and West Avenues north of US 278 were blocked because of flood

I think the disagreement here is semantics. Scared or not scared is really not the issue ... rather it is disturbing - discomforting - a matter of concern - that something like this happens close-by whether the close-by is three miles or ... as in the case of Colombine - across the country but in a setting that is similar to one we encounter in our routines. For instance, even though amazed is not scared, I dare say that amazed is at the least 'amazed' that people are that close to the edge as to pull guns over a dispute over a couple of hundred dollars. pubby

How do you feel about electronic medical records?
gpatt0n replied to afriendlygeek's topic in RECENT TOPICS
The reason that medical record privacy is so critical to the safety of the individual is because insurance companies, in particular, would like to have that information under the present system as it can help them avoid 'sick people' ... i.e. those with pre-existing conditions. It is also key in determining the various rates for group insurance. This is one of the advantages of single-payer schemes ... as there is no comparative advantage accruing to any for profit carrier ... and is probably one of the reasons that countries like France, which do have universal electronic records inclu -
Not something I have the occassion to talk about much but back in 1975 ... as a young man ... I had a Bolex 16mm camera and tape recorder and filmed and produced the first-ever daily Razorback Report as a stringer for two TV stations. What was particularly cool - other than the Hogs went to the Cotton Bowl as the winner of the then SWC - and I attended every game was that the among the coaches on staff then was defensive coordinator (and former Razorback player) Jimmy Johnson. Also coaching at Arkansas that season was Bo Rein, who was the youngest head coach ever at LSU ... and died in

Petrino needs to take one of those out of the Frank Broyles arsenal of plays ... which is to punt on 3rd down. The way I figure, rather than getting another 15 yard penalty, they'll give it Georgia deep in their own territory where they'll fumble giving them outstanding field position ... again. pubby PS: That was in the old-days and yes, Broyles did punt once on third down when he was playing a tough field position game. It wasn't a formal punt, but one where the opponent didn't have anyone back to receive it and was kicked in a way to 'roll' He still was criticized for it.

For those not watching, it is 14-10 Arkansas but Georgia just stopped Arkansas on 3rd down. Likely a punt that will put Georgia on their own 37 yard line with seconds left in the first quarter. What has amazed me most is the growth that has happened at Reynolds stadium... but oops ... Georgia fumbles ... and ARkasnas has great field position. Turnovers for Georgia are really hurting the dogs. First play out, diving catch in the endzone, Arkansas 20-10. soon to be 21-10 pubby

What we do know is that the city of Hiram charged her with felony endangerment of a child and they did not chase her. Rather, she broke away from the store security folks and obviously left rather quickly. What the Dep. Gurley didn't know was why she was charged by Hiram with the felony child endangerment. We do know that the child was 'in her car seat' when the chase came to an end. I didn't sound like the child was in the store when she was detained nor does it make much sense that she would take the time, when fleeing the store, to put the child in the seat and secure her.

Do keep the scores coming. FYI: We hope to have some video from the EPHS/McEachern game from our new sports guy James Cash (see him on the news with an interview with the EPHS coach) Sunday afternoon as we kick off our expanded sports coverage streamcasting from our studio at Stars and Strikes. We'll be announcing a time a little later but I'm trying to get it going by 5 p.m. Sunday evening. pubby

We call Wally World ... wally world ... not walmart. And anyone ought to know that the female burger store is Wendy's . We just pull them out of the title because it costs money to be in the title ... And NE ... if we didn't ... we'd have to kill the whole topic. The reason is that, say we let folks use Walmart in the title and then some one decides it is okay to use Jim Jones Car Lot who is not a commerce member and so between the people playing the game, they could keep Jim Jones car lot topic on the top of the recent topics page by posting to it. Now, Charles Hardy and the folks at
