  1. I'm from up North too and have had extensive experience driving in winter conditions. Snow is one thing, ice is another. I don't care where you're from or how much experience you've had, driving on ice is unpredictable and dangerous....it's not something that you can "learn" to drive on. You can learn how to go slow, you can learn what to do when you start sliding to minimize the dangers, but driving on an untreated icy road leads you to be at the mercy of a little luck no matter if you're in Minnesota or Florida. mrnn
  2. My daughter turned 4 on Sept. 1st. I'm not sure if they have age requirements and she wasn't enrolled at Reflections prior to the pre-K program so I can't speak to their 3 yr old program. If you live nearby it may atleast be worth a phone call to get some details from them. Outside of fees, I'm not sure what the differences are between the private on Old Cartersville and the GA funded at the Douglasville location. I do know that the Old Cartersville location is pushing hard to become state funded....that may have to do with their quest for higher enrollment, I really don't know. My
  3. I'm sorry my words frustrated some of you. If given the choice of having some folks shake their heads at my actions while I do what's best for me and my family or choosing to barely scrape by to avoid the headshaking, well, I choose my family every time. Obviously one owes an effort to avoid foreclosure, but it is simply irresponsible to jeopardize your family's financial well-being in order to adhere to this belief in subservience to the banks. Everyone who signed mortgage papers signed a contract, the contract states that if for any reason you are unable or refuse to repay the debt,
  4. Not to be an ass, but I think that if his career has put him in a position where he can't afford the house, well, he can't afford it. Nothing wrong with walking away from the house or even putting in the effort for a short sale before they foreclose. With the value of his home likely well below what he owes and frankly little light on the horizon for the incomes of us little people increasing any time soon, I just don't understand why people insist on being chained to a gigantic financial burden that literally eats up their decreased income. Take the hit on the credit report for 2-3 years a
  5. We use Reflections on Old Cartersville and have been very happy. Unlike the other location, this one is still vying for state qualification (apparently it's desirable?) so we're paying about $500/mo. The instructor's stated goal is to have every kid reading by the time graduation rolls around. They do touch on some Spanish, work on their numbers, their handwriting, etc. as well. I've found the staff to be top notch, my daughter loves going (though I do wish she would put more effort into her studies), they go on pretty cool field trips about once a month, the building is very new with exten
  6. Here's one that got me the other day.... Had a WaMu card that was changed to Chase this past fall. Chase promptly jacked up my rates due to "economic conditions". I went ahead and paid off the card, logged into the website a couple days later to make sure I had a $0 balance, and haven't looked back. The other day I was at a store and decided to use the card and it came back declined. When I got home I logged in and there was a balance and late fees? So looking through the history I saw where I paid it off and then they tacked on an interest fee on the date of the next billing cycle
  7. I buy my filets there and they are just beautiful. I usually get two 1 1/2" thick filets for under 20 bucks. I can't remember the price per pound but the circumference of the cuts coupled with that thickness makes for a huge filet. If you're planning on doing surf and turf, it's too much turf to have room in your belly for the surf. mrnn
  8. When it's done, assuming you have it foiled at that point, wrap it in a towel and drop it into a cooler or some other insulating device you may have. Leave it there for atleast 45 minutes...this allows the juices and temperature to distribute evenly throughout the brisket. After it rests, go ahead and cut her up. mrnn
  9. I don't get the Vista hate....maybe because I installed it after SP1 came out but I've never had any issues of any kind with it on the last box that I built. I'm hesitant to even upgrade to 7 because I've been so content with Vista. mrnn
  10. One of the oddest things I've seen when dealing with what you've got going on is a lack of power in the USB port due to other devices being plugged into other USB ports. Unplug all other USB devices from the PC, restart your PC, and then try plugging in your iPod again. mrnn
  11. HA! That is exactly what it I was thinking of...Charlie Sheen! But it had to have been a parody of some other movie. Wow, guess I was a little off with the chick flick thing. Thank you sooo much. If anyone knows what that scene was making fun of, please share. Thanks for trying!
  12. Soliciting help....what chick flick had some dude on a motorcycle beside a pasture where some chick is riding a horse. There was some bad music playing in the background...I want to say an 80's movie.
  13. Not aware of any commerce members selling trees, soooo... If you're a slacker like us and are still needing to get a tree, check out the Hardy Chevrolet parking lot. There's a real nice couple there selling trees 50% off. There are still plenty of nice trees left to choose from. Check them out. mrnn
  14. I don't know the ins and outs of the Apple/AT&T exclusivity agreement, but assuming that Apple can break that agreement after the contract expires I guarantee you they can't wait to get out from under that miserable company. I have an iPhone and I absolutely love it, but AT&T just kills the experience. Like today at lunch, I work downtown Atlanta, was in a restaurant and 1 bar of 3G service. Seriously? And of course when I do have full bars 3G service, my browsing just crawls....I haven't experienced load times this slow since dial-up. Get away from the metro area and away from th
  15. Tiger is a Buddhist. You're judging him by your philosophical/religious beliefs which is certainly your right, but please understand that your 10 Commandments are not universal. mrnn
  16. He's a professional athlete, not a Saint. Look, Tiger is one of the wealthiest athletes the world has ever seen, incredibly talented at what he does, and has racked up a ton in endorsements by keeping his private life private. Adultery is committed every day in this country in every town in the union...in other words, not all people are interested in monogamy. Now imagine being a guy who isn't satisfied sexually with a monogamous relationship and having poon around you all the time just waiting for the opportunity to get with you. The only travesty in this whole story is that he didn't
  17. We've always had Panasonic phones....great feel on the ear and good sound quality. Just upgraded recently to the 5phone set with Dect6.0 technology. KX-TG6445 specifically. Very happy with the system. We've never owned Uniden so I can't really compare. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B001P80EQG/ref=ox_ya_oh_product mrnn
  18. Curious if these places that sell trees tend to pack them on top of your vehicle. I don't have a luggage rack on either car and the wife is pushing me to get a real tree. Do I need to bring my own rope or how does this work? Thanks. mrnn
  19. Small business isn't the problem. Banks hoarding money is the problem. In order to hire more employees a business has to be expanding to support those new employees, and I don't mean just in a financial sense but the new employees actually have to have things to do. If I remember right, your family owns a small business. Do you hire people just for the hell of it or do you hire people because business is up and you need the help? The most common ways to expand business all involve investment. Most small business owners fund these investments via credit. There's no credit available so
  20. I didn't "find" it anywhere, it was a reply to your insinuation that the judge was not following the law. Judges can twist the law just about any way they want to justify the outcome they want. Based on the news story you linked and the extra info MsGAStorm provided from something she read, I find it rather easy to see that something along the lines you highlighted in my post sum up the judge's reasoning and the legalities involved. Not to mention, as MrDis brought up, the lender's refusal to settle/restructure the loan may fly directly in the face of new Federal law if that bank took a bai
  21. I was hoping someone would make this post...thanks MD. I think we'll likely see that they will end up paying the principle and reasonable interest after the appeal, which is more than fair. When a homeowner is keeping in constant contact with the lender, keeping them apprised of when they'll be paid and being very open with the situation, it is just plain irresponsible for the lender to refuse to come to any sort of agreement all the while DOUBLING the principle of the loan in the form of penalties and interest. All the while, they can't even present the paperwork proving they're forec
