  1. The guy was reported and investigated under Bush. mrnn
  2. Beck is Howard Beale realized. There's no doubt that the guy truly believes what he says, but that doesn't mean that what he says is fact or fiction in real life. I mean really, imagine yourself as some, I don't know, Russian who comes to the US for vacation. You flip on the television and see Glenn Beck complete with crocodile tears, chalkboard, and props to tell you the news. You'd have to think the guy was a couple beers short of a six pack. It's entertaining but not sure he should be looked upon as a beacon of truth, ya know. I think Dobbs is bound to end up at FNC. He's good w
  3. Ha! I could see how his voice could bother you. If someday you manage to get by it, you ought to give the guy a chance. I'm no fan of FNC but I really do enjoy Shep. The guy has real talent and truly takes pride in being fair to both sides of a story. I've seen him make complete fools of democrats and republicans alike. mrnn
  4. Same here. I go annually and was quite surprised when the first year with this doctor, at the age of 31, this dude checked my prostate. I was NOT expecting that at such a young age; I figured I had atleast another 4-5 years of virginity. I'd imagine at 43 there's no question that they should give you a full line-up. mrnn
  5. That's pretty funny. The one guy on that network that lives up to the "fair and balanced" moniker and he'd be your first choice to can. But a talentless douche like Steve Douchey or a man who literally shows signs of insanity, Glenn Beck, should stick around. I'm with you though, I hope Shep leaves as well. He's far too talented for FNC, imo. He would have been a great replacement for Tim Russert on MTP but with David Gregory filling that slot I'm sure some other great opportunity could present itself to Shep. He doesn't belong on FNC or MSNBC, he deserves a serious, respectable gig.
  6. NOAA thinks we'll be colder and dryer than average this winter. http://www.weather.com/outlook/weather-new...tion_2009-10-16 mrnn
  7. A nice dark beer, preferably an imperial stout....anything with heavy malts. Heavy hops is for the warmer weather. mrnn
  8. I hate stories like this..... the CDC has a job to do and that job is to protect us from disease. When these scare stories go around it discourages people from getting the shot. When a large portion of the population is unprotected you end up with an epidemic leading to a pandemic. Once the virus gets a taste for humans it will mutate to strengthen itself further. Don't get me wrong, it's important to be informed but this strengthening paranoia over vaccines is NOT good for the health of our nation. mrnn
  9. There is no such word as "supposively".....that one kills me and I REALLY struggle not correcting people. And why is it talking behind someone's back? Wouldn't that mean you're actually face to face?
  10. Paulding, educationally speaking, is mediocrity as demonstrated by any metric you want to throw out there. The fact is that students who excel in Paulding are fewer and further between than other school districts, including the county next door. To me, it's all the more impressive that a student can excel in an environment where success is not expected. That is a credit to the parents whose children are able to excel. But the fact is that you don't see people clamoring to get their children into Paulding schools because, point blank, it's not a county that is built for top notch college pr
  11. If average SAT scores and CRCT scores don't prove to you that Paulding schools aren't great then I'm not sure that there's a measure out there that will. I don't mean to come across tersely, I just feel you're having a mixed debate about 3 different subjects that are completely at odds with one another. 1. Paulding schools are great despite the fact that their test scores say otherwise. Prove to me that Paulding schools are inferior to Cobb schools. 2. Cobb schools have higher test scores and better schools, but I want proof that the schools are responsible for the school's
  12. And yet you want to throw out aptitude statistics that are commonly accepted as the truest measure of a school district's success. Without a doubt, Cobb schools as a whole are better at preparing students for college than Pauling schools. You cannot just ignore statistics. These are averages. While your son obviously excelled, [unfortunately] it's not a matter of how a school's elite perform, it's a matter of how the average student performs under the tutelage of that particular school. Just throwing out crazy numbers for the sake of argument, it's great that Paulding may have 12% scoring
  13. If you take an antibiotic and it cures you, do you get on 15 internet message boards and declare how well it worked? If you take an antibiotic and you get violently ill from it, do you then get on 15 internet message boards to warn others? I guess my point is, most of what you find about medications online, and I research everything anyone in my family takes, is going to be decidedly slanted information. Your doctor is the one you should trust, not some faceless opinion on a computer. mrnn
  14. Detroit: Too broke to bury their dead Money to bury Detroit's poor has dried up, forcing struggling families to abandon their loved ones in the morgue freezer. DETROIT (CNNMoney.com) -- At 1300 E. Warren St., you can smell the plight of Detroit. Inside the Wayne County morgue in midtown Detroit, 67 bodies are piled up, unclaimed, in the freezing temperatures. Neither the families nor the county can afford to bury the corpses. So they stack up inside the freezer...(cont'd) That's just absolutely awful. mrnn
  15. Does it cover his pederast past and drug addictions? I like watching freaks self-destruct on film. mrnn
  16. Also, if you're on a surge protector try exercising it. Sounds stupid but I had a computer that would require me to kill the protector and turn it back on before it would power up. mrnn
  17. We've got thunder and a pretty good downpour on 61N/High Shoals
  18. I forget what show I was listening to on the radio being it was a few years ago, but some expert said that many insurance companies are known to annotate your record for a simple call which, if you ever go to switch companies, is considered derogatory information resulting in higher rates. Stinks, but I wouldn't call them unless you KNOW it's covered and you KNOW you want to make a claim. If it were me, I wouldn't make the claim. It will cause your rates to increase and you're really only saving a few hundred dollars after your deductible. Incidentally, do you mind sharing who ca

  20. There's a new commerce member up from FL looking for homes to dry. I'll see if I can find his name. mrnn
  21. This isn't 1979 and we aren't all working in coal mines or the factory up the road. Most salaried professionals working in medium to large companies will be afforded paid time off in situations such as the flooding we're currently dealing with. I understand not being paid by small businesses or not being paid by large businesses if they haven't invested much in your development, but to pretend that NOT being paid is the norm is inaccurate. I'm 33 now and have not missed a day of pay for illness, natural disaster, or bereavement since I was 17 and working in a restaurant. I must just be luc
  22. I agree. I am from the south, hubby from the north, I have been exposed to snow enough IMHO, between Tulsa and our visits to the Chicago area. Hubby still loves it tho.
  23. At Northside? I can't say I've ever encountered him. mrnn
  24. When the waving man was just a small boy he had a dog named Barney. Apparently he and Barney were pretty tight and he had taught him to do many tricks. One of Barney's tricks was to wave back to the boy when the boy would wave. One morning, as the boy was walking to school, he saw old Barney chasing him from behind. As Barney was running down the middle of the road the boy waved at Barney to get out of the roadway before he got hit. As luck would have it, Barney apparently thought the boy was waving at him so Barney stopped in the middle of the road and started to wave at the boy, before
  25. That's crazy. We're really lucky it's not worse than it is as far as flooding...that's a TON of water. TWC shows a little over an inch of rain yesterday for zip 30132. I've got to believe it was a good bit more than that. Anyone have rainfall totals for the area around Northside Elementary? mrnn
