  1. Regulating sales of arms and ammunition is not the same as stripping away the 2nd amendment. Over 70% of NRA members are in favor of universal background checks and yet, for some reason, it can't get through Congress. Which militia do you belong to? mrnn
  2. I think the difference is that most adults who talk sheeze have matured beyond the middle school level of talking sheeze. Lyin' Ted. Little Marco. Lightweight Jeb. I'm just waiting for him to bust out the Pee-Wee Herman "I know you are but what am I?". mrnn
  3. From your link: When Donald J. Trump is president, China will be on notice that America is back in the global leadership business and that their days of currency manipulation and cheating are over. We will cut a better deal with China that helps American businesses and workers compete. The Trump Plan Will Achieve The Following Goals: Bring China to the bargaining table by immediately declaring it a currency manipulator. Protect American ingenuity and investment by forcing China to uphold intellectual property laws and stop their unfair and unlawful practice of forcing U.S. companies t
  4. You're right, I've never read a book about or by Donald Trump. I haven't read books about or by Kim Kardashian, Snookie, or any other reality TV star either. So being you have read "every book about Trump", please articulate his stance on China for us. You seem to believe strongly in your candidate..wow us with his wisdom, please!!! What's he going to do?!? mrnn
  5. Chinese currency devaluation has been something the US has been fighting for years; this isn't something "yuge" that Trump just figured out. Oddly, there's still much disagreement whether an artificially weak yuan actually has any negative impacts on overall trade. Corporate espionage is obviously an issue and the US has been, again, fighting that battle behind closed doors for years...democrats and republicans alike. Other than Trump's big talk about him being a "deal-maker", I'm not exactly clear what it is he's going to do differently other than encourage an all-out trade war. Obviou
  6. So much wrong here, GD....so much wrong. Liberals, most of which are believers in Keynesian economic theory, are absolutely in favor of tax cuts to spur on a sluggish economy. The difference between Keynesians and Tea Party-brand economics is that Keynesians believe you reinstate higher tax rates during periods of prosperity to not only tame growth and the capitalist monster but to also "save for a rainy day". Supply-side, "voodoo", economic theory says to always keep taxes low. Supply side, in the history of humankind, has never proven to work. Keynesian economics carried us through s
  7. Let's move the conversation to policy instead of who lies the most. What are Trumps policies? *start a trade war with China *Putin is a good guy so apparently we're going to embrace Putin and his human rights abuses as a close ally. That'll go over well with NATO. *He's going to deport millions of illegals. He hasn't explained how this will be paid for, how these folks will be identified, but they're going to be expelled. *He's going to build a wall on our Southern border. Mexico has said they aren't going to pay for it. Trump says they are. Apparently he's a dealmake
  8. I guess I should have added "branch"....it's sort of implicit but I'll add it for you. mrnn In this case "good" means "sane". Agreement with me has nothing to do with the conversation....none of those sane Republicans in this thread will be voting for the same candidate as I will. mrnn
  9. At least he has executive experience, familiarity with a map, and isn't a thin-skinned bigot while having some conservative cred.
  10. Haven't been around in quite a while but got to reading this thread. Over the years debating many of you about politics, it was always easy to distinguish the GOP partisan hacks and those who actually used some common sense to form their own opinions. This thread really shows that nothing has changed. Props to those folks, good Republicans, who recognize that the GOP nominee is not fit for office. It's okay to hate Hillary and not vote for her but it's admirable that some of you aren't going to vote Trump just because he has an R beside his name. Hopefully y'all are finding some solace in
  11. Hell, if cockroaches taste like lobster, I'd probably love eating some roach bisque. mrnn

  13. Thanks, y'all. I think I'll try the Cobb Market being it's closest. mrnn
  14. I know that crawdads are in season right now but seems the ones I see at the local grocery stores are all "previously frozen". Anyone know where to get some fresh ones around here or are they always frozen before distribution? mrnn
  15. We used Sanders Construction for a good bit of work on our home and were very happy. Doug does great work and is (was?) a commerce member here on PCom. http://sandershandyman.net/ mrnn
  16. I agree and never report folks (with a couple of exceptions for extremely nasty posts). I do feel that a lot of decent to good threads get hijacked by either political posts that have absolutely nothing to do with the subject at hand or there are a lot of cases of a couple of posters sniping at each other....you end up with a page of good stuff to read and next thing you know you completely loose interest because it's two people bickering back and forth about, again, something completely unrelated to the OP. Mods have done a good job of separating threads when another new subject comes u
  17. Why am I not surprised you own a thong? If it's cow-print, you may be in trouble. mrnn
  18. Maybe Pubby could film this encounter instead of another boring Commissioners' Meeting. mrnn
  19. How about pulling out the posts that are over-the-line instead of hiding a productive thread in a hidden forum? There's a lot of good dialogue here...counterproductive to hide it, imo. mrnn
  20. Ha! This reminded me of that AnonyMoose dude from back in the day. He always said this place was full of a bunch of "soup chickens". I don't know wtf a "soup chicken" is but your comment reminded me of it. mrnn
  21. A beer summit, you say? I remember that thread...it was one of the worst I've read on PCom. mrnn
  22. Sorry for the book I've been resisting comment because I haven't had a chance to speak with Stradial yet about his situation, but I suppose this is just about the board in general. The fact that the number of regularly participating members has dwindled so greatly is the main driver of why the board has become what it's become. I'm not saying that many of the other things mentioned in this thread haven't played a role, but the number of folks who still regularly post who don't partake in political conversations is, well, small. Being most regular posters do want to talk politics, th
  23. I disagree with you on the law but I do agree with you on the talking points that the GOP is using to support the law. You're absolutely correct about 2016. They don't stand a chance...the dems, or sometimes nutjobs in their own party, throw out the bait on these social issues and the GOP can't help but swarm and go after it. mrnn
  24. Refusing service is not forcing beliefs upon another. It's bad business and companies that behave this way will be punished by consumers and bad publicity. We're in total agreement on the HL decision but I see this as a completely different issue. The HL decision was a completely butchered interpretation of the federal RFRA by 5 conservative SCOTUS judges with an agenda. mrnn
  25. There's a discrimination joke in there somewhere.... mrnn
