  1. Driving costs up? We've had the lowest increase in health costs in like 50-60 years in 2014! Obamacare has stabilized prices. mrnn
  2. I think it's just the opposite...it's an advantage of Obamacare. The state can save money by pushing part-time employees onto Obamacare, saving money for both the state and the employees who will be heavily subsidized by the Feds. One of the talking points about Obamacare is that it will eventually lead to single-payer or, at the minimum, get employers out of the business of providing healthcare. Interesting that our GOP state government seems to agree with the strategy and is, in fact, encouraging it. mrnn
  3. Member interviews? Members interviewing other members, on camera. Or Surepip cooking....that'd be pretty cool, too.
  4. I thought Oregon was going to blow OSU out.....I feel really dumb. OSU played a hell of a game. They found what worked and stuck with it. Their defense was very impressive. I don't think anyone can argue that they're the best team in the country after beating Bama and Oregon back to back....which, of course, is the beauty of the playoff. mrnn
  5. Scared? Throw it on the 2016 Primary Ballot and commercialization passes, I'd guess, by 20pts (60-40). Turnout in 2014 tells me this is so...people aren't as fervently against this thing outside of your little bubble. If they were, they would've gone to the polls last year and your puppet candidates would have won by 50+ points. I suggested here on PCom that the previous board should have put this on a ballot, namely the 2014 general election ballot. You would have had an incoming, Delta-sponsored, commission majority facing an overwhelming voter directive to allow the airport to go c
  6. So City of Atlanta and Delta foots all these campaign and legal fees to fight commercialization, they get what they want, and then will be nowhere to be found when we (TAXPAYERS) have to pay to get out of the contract, pay back bonds, and look at weeds grow out of the investments already sunk into the airport? Great plan, guys. Way to go. mrnn
  7. I understand that. The prosecution caught grief for playing the taped police interviews which, ostensibly, eliminated the need for Zimmerman to take the stand being the tapes said his story for him. mrnn
  8. I watched the entire trial. The prosecution screwed up by not forcing Zimmerman to take the stand. mrnn
  9. Apropos...because it's cool to spell Ubiquitous...one of those words that I really like but I always forget to use even though my opportunities to do so are ubiquitous Ambiguity....simple word that makes you sound smart lol Queue -- such a unique spelling Mitigate, Pragmatism, Wholly...there are several more words that fit into this category...basically, these words are perfect for consolidating other possible words/phrases but, for some reason, these words aren't used as often as they should be. mrnn
  10. Killing a kid and multiple arrests for beating women. I'm sure glad I'm not on the record on PCom for ever supporting/defending this jackass. mrnn
  11. Now there's a formal Bar complaint fired against the whole McCulloch office, essentially. GJ transcripts were reviewed by a panel of folks, including a former judge and another lawyer, and issues were found that, they felt, warranted the complaint. http://stlouis.cbslocal.com/2015/01/05/bar-complaint-filed-against-mcculloch/ mrnn
  12. So, what you're saying, is that there were no credible witnesses, some speculative forensic evidence, and a dead kid. Sounds like no reason for a trial to me! mrnn
  13. I know that this stuff is near and dear to you....you're a huge proponent of law enforcement and, some of the other topics we disagree on, I know you hold personal experience above theory. That's cool and I respect that about you. Doesn't mean we can't exchange some posts about the subjects back and forth....with hopes that one day you'll see the light BTW, I know you said you don't care, but I've got on an aqua speedo, flip-flops, and a neon yellow halter top on right now. Getting ready to head up to the Hiram Walmart. mrnn
  14. Please tell me that you're like 80-90 years old. There's only one generation that can give a lecture like yours and it ain't the baby boomers. mrnn
  15. Which is precisely why the "war on drugs" is such a failure. Think of the TRILLIONS of dollars that have been spent by the military, police, prisons, schools, etc. to combat drugs and, guess what, kids and adults are still doing drugs. Then we talk about how useless rehabilitation programs are or how difficult they are to get into. Treatment options are either priced out of most people's range or basically ineffective. What would happen if we'd spent those TRILLIONS on treating drug and alcohol abuse, educating students about the dangers of drugs and alcohol, and having facilities i
  16. According to the media, ONE person vouched for WIlson's story. That person has proven to be an incredibly flawed witness who likely was not even at the scene. Does that make the dozens of other witnesses, many of whom changed their stories, any more credible? No, not at all. What this all tells me is that the DA did an absolute hack job of giving the grand jury a clear and concise case to decide. So much so that one member of the jury, so far, has heard enough of the b.s. and wants to be able to speak about what a poor job the DA did. If that involves a book or a round on the TV News
  17. They didn't "hear" anything...it was a pile of paperwork from my understanding. That woman was mentioned in the press as the "key witness" for defending Wilson's side of the story. Again, I'm not making a statement on guilt or innocence, just saying that one of the key witnesses for Wilson was a lying, mentally unstable person...and the GJ didn't know that. Could that have made a difference in their deliberation? We won't know until this juror gets the opportunity to speak. mrnn
  18. Without saying anything about decision of the grand jury, it's hard to argue they had the right witness testimony given that the "key witness" is a freaking lunatic of a woman who claimed she just happened to be in the neighborhood to learn how black people live and has a disturbing history of racism. Had she been put on a stand in a trial, she would have been laughed out of the courtroom. The prosecutor gave the grand jury her testimony as if it were fact. mrnn
  19. 16 and up, I can deal with the occasional beer or weed....teenagers do these sorts of things and, for all intents and purposes, they are not harmful if handled responsibly. I'd prefer they feel comfortable talking to me, or their mom, about these things than scared of us overreacting. I would never dream of encouraging that sort of behavior, or come off like it's no big deal, before they turn 18, but I wouldn't look into rehabs or moving them out of state for smoking a joint. That's the kind of thing that drives rebellious children further away, not into a position where they trust a pare
  20. Ha! I knew you'd be lurking Mizzou has done much better in the SEC than I thought they'd do....they're a good team. I just can't help but feel that UGA has had better teams the last 2 seasons and think that we actually had a decent shot at offing Bama in the SECC this season. In typical UGA fashion, of course we have no one to blame but ourselves due to stupid losses to inferior squads. But I need a scapegoat and, well, Mizzou fits the bill! mrnn
  21. They've stolen two SEC East championships from us in a row....certainly much more of a thorn in our sides than either Auburn or Florida, recently. mrnn
  22. They were weaker, for sure...but relative to FBS as a whole, I wouldn't label them a "weak" team. SEC was definitely down a bit this year. I guess the more the conference was put on a pedestal, the more the players' stock rose and a ton of guys ended up leaving early. With that said, the SEC is still the deepest conference, by far, which absolutely makes their schedules the most difficult. I think we're seeing a bit of parity between the top teams in the 5 major conferences but once you get past the top team or two in non-SEC conferences, the drop-off is steep. mrnn
  23. Don't get me wrong, I don't mind OSU other than their weakass B1G schedule which leads to some of their fans overrating them (think FSU). They capitalized on Bama's errors and that's something that good teams do to win. Point being, I'm not saying Oregon will beat OSU because of some personal hatred, it's just that Oregon is an extremely talented team. The Rose Bowl was the first time I've watched a full Oregon game this season and, man, that offense pace is ridiculous! I was getting tired just watching them run plays. Not sure if you watched the game, but at one point they put a cloc
