  1. You're a pretty good guy, Fox, when I'm on your side of the debate mrnn
  2. Not sheeze. And that's why we need to be looking at any and all possibilities that brings corporate dollars into this county. Really...we don't even have a good restaurant anywhere in Paulding county. Sure, we might have a place that serves decent Mexican or decent BBQ, but we have no "destination" restaraunts that would bring in patrons from Cobb, Douglas, etc. I don't think I'm necessarily down on Paulding but what do we have to offer? There are no great restaraunts. There are no great brew pubs. Unless you're a hardcore redneck, there's nowhere to go spend a Saturday night out dr
  3. Why don't you tell us how those who won in the 2014 primary did among registered voters? mrnn
  4. I agree that they needed to address the complaints of opponents of the airport but, really, when those opponents automatically set their strategy to petulance, where does the BOC have the motivation to work with them? It's a matter of tact. You can't go around bad-mouthing folks, disrupting meetings, and throwing out baseless accusations without first trying to use tact...see where there's compromise. Very early on in this debate I said that, if I were on the BOC, I would throw a meaningful chunk of change at those whose real estate values would be impacted.....At this point? Based on thei
  5. Man, this is SPOT ON and one helluva shrewd move by this BOC to combat a low-turnout primary election that was basically handed to the motivated anti-commercialization folks (I think they're the only ones that showed up to vote). Fight fire with fire, as they say. mrnn
  6. If you were dealing with a small, but boisterous, minority who has stopped at nothing to disrupt, delay, and smear your name...well, something tells me a lot of us would keep any and all meetings as quiet as possible. It's like throwing a party for family and friends, and there's that one asshole brother-in-law that you just don't want there because he always gets drunk and makes a scene...you tell everyone to keep it quiet. mrnn
  7. They rejected it because of politics. There was nothing controversial in that bill. McConnell's big beef was that it would result in lawsuits?!? Umm, lawsuits usually do happen when companies or individuals don't follow the law. mrnn There is sooo much data on this subject online that your anecdotal evidence really means nothing. Not to mention, you don't know what everyone in the companies you've worked for made (outside of military). mrnn
  8. Seriously? You must not pay much attention to the news. GOP Senate Rejects Equal Pay for Equal Work Bill mrnn
  9. Man, that sound incredible. Your licenses are good over there. Driving isn't much different....though when we first got on the A5 headed South, literally within minutes of being on an autobahn for the first time, we passed a guy on the right and he FLIPPED out. Apparently you should never pass on the right in Germany. I agree with Crane, btw, if you're looking at 2 weeks and want to hop around from country to country, it would definitely be worth getting a travel agent. mrnn
  10. 14 days?!? You can hit every country you want to hit. Back in my youth, a couple friends and I went to see Pearl Jam in Europe....we flew into Frankfurt, rented a car, did some sight-seeing in Germany, caught PJ in Zurich the next night, drove up through France, Belgium, and onto the Netherlands where we stayed a night. Next day drove over to Hamburg, DE to see our second PJ show, stayed the night there and then back to Frankfurt for the flight home. We were there for 4-5 days and had a blast and got to see plenty. With 14 days, you'll be able to hit a whole lot of Western Europe, be it b
  11. I appreciate the advice, everyone. I think I'll just kiddingly bring up to my boss one day...we go way back and I'd feel comfortable giving him a hard time without striking up any kind of serious negotiation. See if he bites. I'll also call the director at the vendor and tell him thanks, but no thanks...let me know if something opens up that involves telecommuting or being based in ATL. Gone, I'm just asking because I'm truly ignorant about this subject. I've heard of plenty of people who use an offer to gain leverage with their current employers, so i'm fairly sure that's completely
  12. That's funny....my brother lived up there for awhile so knew it was more expensive...but jeez! Did the generic $100K If you make $100K in Dallas you'd need $242K in Rockville, MD. Wow. mrnn
  13. Sounds like this as grey of an area as I was afraid of....I'm 38....outside of high school jobs, USAF, and under 2 years at other competitors right after the USAF, I've never really "played the field", so to speak, as I've been with my current employer all this time. This stuff is completely foreign to me....interviews, negotiations, selling yourself, etc. I do my job, do it well, and I'm taken care of for doing it....I guess I'm comfortable with that but, at the same time, would hate to let an opportunity pass me by. I'm thinking maybe it's worth, as Surepip offered, atleast mentioning
  14. Hoping you guys can offer some experiences/advice...sorry for the length of the post I've been with my company going on 15 years....we're finally pulling it all together under a new CEO and the company's future looks bright. I make a good salary, work from home, great benefits, 30days vacation/year, good insurance, 20% bonus annual bonus potential, etc. I really can't complain. While I admittedly get bored with what I'm doing, it's exciting at times. I work with one particular vendor almost exclusively. I'm in a very technical field so folks with my understanding of their products
  15. Any sealed court record requires a judge to unseal them, regardless of death. It's just like this talk that the officer's face was all busted up....I've not seen that anywhere but from Breitbart, etc. Which, if it's true, is unfortunate because it is an important aspect of the case. The fact that such an important piece fo the case would not be reported by anyone other than right wing news outlets leads me to believe that the claim is likely false. mrnn
  16. Ha! Hey man, I remember our conversation in your car about this subject....we disagreed then and we'll continue to disagree. Your wife is a wise woman. mrnn
  17. Blatantly false. But to entertain the thought, what does that have to do with a police officer shooting an unarmed man? mrnn
  18. Doing what they all should be doing? Voting "no" on any funding bill? The Tea Party way or the highway? That's extremism....it's the definition of extremism in government. When you go to buy a car and lowball the dealer, do you adjust your position or do you stay with your first lowball offer, regardless of the fact you know that your price would cause him to lose money? How did you buy your home? Were there offers and counteroffers? Did you use negotiation with your children as a means of extracting reasonable compromises or were you a "my way or the highway" to your 5 year old kin
  19. Baby mama is obviously an irresponsible drama queen (got that trait from her mom, apparently) who will soon have another ex-husband if she keeps making him deal with her first ex. mrnn
  20. I'm not a NASCAR guy and wouldn't know Tony Stewart if he walked up to me and said hello. So given my very rudimentary understanding of racing, doesn't driving under a caution mean to drastically reduce your speed and kind of lolligag around the track, maintaining your position, until a wreck is cleared? Within seconds of Ward's momentum stopping after being thrown, the emergency guys were there...they couldn't have been more than 20-30 yards from where initial contact took place. So if under a caution and with emergency vehicles on the track, why would Stewart gun his engine like that
  21. When I lived out-of-state, we would make it a point to get a Publix sub when we were back in GA. Odd to want to hit up a particular grocery store for a sub but, jeez, their subs are sooo damn good....the bread just makes the sub. mrnn
  22. Yes, Krispy Kreme would be a welcome addition. As would: Starbucks at 61/278 Costco Whole Foods Trader Joes Wing Stop Uncle Bobe's permanent BBQ location Dick's Sporting Goods A few damn craft beer brewpubs in downtown Dallas As it stands now, I only get Starbucks once a week when I go grocery shopping at Sam's in Hiram...while this is good for my pocketbook, it's not good for my Starbucks habit. Speaking of Sam's, it's alright, but Costco has better selection and treats their employees 100% better. If I need a special ingredient, or want some really, really fresh food, I don
  23. You guys rock! Thanks. Heading up to Henry's in Acworth this evening for some dinner. Unfortunately, no cake or ice cream, OSU.....I'm approaching midlife crisis age so want to be sure to maintain my figure mrnn
  24. But tires are guaranteed to lose air pressure....batteries are guaranteed to go dead....air filters are guaranteed to become clogged. If I go for a run on the SCT everyday for the rest of my life, chances are I will never be attacked....about as far from a guarantee as you can get. It absolutely is fear.....to say anything else is to lie to yourself and your audience here on PCom. If you're comfortable living in fear, carrying a gun wherever you wander, more power to you. I'll enjoy my walk without looking around every tree and bend wondering who I will have to kill. mrnn
