  1. Must be a Ga. thing. We didn't see Gone with the wind in Florida.
  2. Thanks I knew it was one of those old movies stars. We didn't have the duck and cover films, we did have the "birds, and bees" film.
  3. Romeo & Juliet,(the Olivia Hussey one) watched it in English b/c we were studying Shakespeare. Field trip to see Othello at the Royal Poinciana playhouse. Back in the early 70s. We also went to the art museums, and other places of cultural interest. That was back when they had real field trips. I almost for got we watched Old man and the sea. I think it had Bogart in it. Again in English class.
  4. He isn't working. He is doing what he loves. That is the best kind of "job."
  5. http://www.usmemorialday.org/backgrnd.html
  6. I just wanted all to know (yes, there really isn't a better way to phrase this) that the annual PCHS Football smoked Boston Butt sale has started. Wasn't sure how many folks looked at the sports forum. If you want one, you can PM me.
  7. I wish I had known that could have been done with my oldest. He is that kid that knows the material, but you can't get him to write for anything. His teachers always said he knows the work, but he just doesn't seem to be able to translate it to paper. I did suggest that they read the test, and allow him to answer verbally. They said they couldn't do that. This is one of the reason's I am hypervegenlent (sp) about my youngest son's IEP.
  8. WOW a lot has changed since DS was at Nebo. We absolutely loved it there. But, we didn't have the kind of issues with DS that you have with Jr. The only teacher that I did have an issue with was DS 4th grade teacher, and even then it was over politics, not son's IEP. I do hope you can get the answers you need.
  9. REALLY????? BOTH of you should be ashamed of yourselves. This was the act of a coward/s. It truly doesn't matter about politics. If this is the only thing that you can think of at a time like this, then perhaps you need to get out more.
  10. Well now this is showing up on my FB. One of your neighbors (who I happen to know) posted that the person shot at kids. Don't worry I let her know that he did NOT shoot AT any kids. Just that they happen to be outside when he was shooting. Geez I'm thinking that even though we have a good size piece of property, we shouldn't shoot when there are ball games going on at the ball field. Even if we have things set up for safety.
  11. You could trap, neuter, and release. Eventually the coloney could get down to a manageable level. That would be better then shooting the cats. After all they do help with the rodent population.
  12. They are. I told my DH that the homeowner would also be paying.
  13. You know I totally agree with this.
  14. I agree with this also. But, I wonder if those of us that are those parents, make the teachers feel that we don't trust them? If that is the case...well I have no answer. I look at the added information is just to round out what is being taught in the class room. We are told so often that parental involvement is so important, then when we do get involved it seems that we're not wanted. Is it really a matter of trust? I would ask that teachers, and administrates make up their minds.
  15. But, do you help your kids by adding to what they are learning? For example: kids know we have a Bill of Rights. But, do they know WHY? Do they understand why we are on edge about North Korea? When it comes to math (I know you most likely do this) do you have them help in the kitchen, sewing room, work shop, or help with car maintenance? There are many things we can do everyday that can teach the reasons behind what is being taught in school. It amuses me when teachers are surprised that my children often understand, and can apply what they have learned. Not only that, but often they can add
  16. Both Paulding, and Cobb were on Spring Break last week. Don't worry we have CRCT this week, so there should be about a poopy ton of threads on that coming up.
  17. I just have lonely Duke. If anyone has some hens they would like to rehome. Let me know. Duke is a bigger boy. He might be a Rhode Island Red. But he is looking for some lovely ladies to share his coop with.
  18. OK, so your not seeking an increase. As far as drama.....well sounds like you already have it.
  19. When I got divorced in 1984, my son got $100.00 per mo. We lived in WPB at the time. When I stated the cost of living was much higher then KS. I was told that was where he lived so that's what they went by. What I don't get is, there wasn't an issue up until now. Now all of a sudden the OP is now demanding the child support. Not only the back support, but an increase. What changed? If the original amount wasn't being paid, why would he pay an increased amount? As far as the whole I'm going to sue you for custody, yeah what ever. Unless there really is something that he has on the mom....
  20. I might just be able to make it!!
  21. There was some one on paulding online yard sale on FB. that was offering them.
  22. My real issue with this is that it over steps the bounds of parenting. To make it OTC for the girls is beyond irresponsible. Why? What if the child has a reaction? If the parent doesn't know what their child has taken, how can that child (keep in mind the parent is responsible for payment) be properly cared for? This is just like "you can leave home when you are 17, and your parents can't do anything about it. After all in the state of Ga. you are considered an adult." Yes, this is what your children are being told. BTW you still have to have a bed, food and a roof for them to come home to.
  23. To hear the media, and yes even some on this board. If your teen isn't having sex, or has not had an aboortzion b/c of incest or rape, then your kid is in the minority. I have noticed that when confronted with the FACT that they are focusing on an anomaly, I am either naive, or just not educated enough. Some times a middle school girl or boy can be 15. So, if there were one that was pregnant she most likely was 15. Hardly the 10-12 year old range. My own dear son (13yr old) has asked me about the whole dating issue. We sat down, and explained that, while it is nice to have a girlfrien
