  1. My Dad worked there until the mid-80s. Even back then they liked to downplay things. Remember the legionnaires disease outbreak?
  2. I would like to go, but seems a bit pricey. Will probably wait to hear some reviews before I decide.
  3. Does anyone belong to American Fitness next to the Kroger on Ridge Road? I was wondering how much it cost per month and do they make you sign a contract. Also, do they have classes or what is the room on the left used for (if anything?)
  4. Thank you for the information! I will pass this on to my husband.
  5. Does anyone have experience with Urology Associates in Hiram? Particularly Doctor Schmidt? The hubby wasn't too crazy about the urologist that he saw a while back and would like to go to someone else. I think this group just recently came to Hiram, so we haven't heard anything about them.
  6. I use to take my Dad to Emory. I can't recall our exact route since Dad knew a few shortcuts since he use to work at the CDC. I looked at MapQuest to try to find the roads we use to take. This is pretty close. (I hate the Interstate) Not sure where you live so pretend you are starting at Hiram where Best Buy, Kohls, etc are on 278. Take Hwy 278 to Richard Sailor Pkwy. Turn left. Take Richard Sailor Pkwy to East/West Connector. Turn right. Take East/West to Cumberland Pkwy (you will make a right and you need to be in the right lane before you get to Cumberland Mall, but try to get
  7. Ahhh, okay. That makes sense. How strange to throw that in with the murder indictment. Guess they tossed in everything they could think of hoping something will stick.
  8. http://www.wsbtv.com/news/news/local/grand-jury-hear-ross-harris-murder-case-today/nhFts/ BREAKING: A grand jury has indicted Ross Harris on eight charges, including malice murder, two counts of felony murder, cruelty to children in the first and second degree, criminal attempt to commit a felony and dissemination of harmful materials to minors. Wondering about the dissemination charge????
  9. I don't know if this is the case in the story, but a while back a man tried to commit suicide by hanging himself in the garage using some kind of wire and hanging himself from one of the overhead beams. Unfortunately, the wire sliced through his neck after he kicked the chair away and you can guess the rest. The sad part is - a family member found him that way. How would you ever get that image out of your head? It would be bad enough to just see someone hanging.
  10. I heard the guy telling this story. He said that if more people gather around, however, Robin Williams would suddenly light up and become the center of attention in the room (paraphrasing and he meant this in a good way).
  11. Offical press statement by Marin County Sheriff's Department: http://www.marinsheriff.org/uploads/857.pdf
  12. I was wondering if you are still using Daniel for your hair and if you are still happy with him. I want to get some color and I'm scared to use just anybody.
  13. I JUST (as in two minutes ago) finished and submitted an article on adoption to my editor. I had a bunch of links I could have shared with you, but they just got turned in. Here is one site I was using as a reference though --- perhaps you can use it as a starting point. http://www.adopting.org/adoptions/biological-fathers-rights-in-adoption.html
  14. This would explain why she hasn't gotten her check yet.
  15. The family has posted a photo of her in the hospital. I just don't see how this can be a random attack. There is way too much rage there for someone to have been simply trying to rob her and she wasn't sexually assaulted so that doesn't seem to be the motive either. I wonder if it is someone from her apartment complex that was mad at her for some reason. I hope they catch him soon.
  16. Finally had a little more time to do some research. This site appears to be up-to-date with the latest on Georgia gun law information. http://www.georgiacarry.org/cms/georgias-carry-laws-explained/frequently-asked-questions/
  17. If you find anything about the gun law - please post it. I did a brief Google search and couldn't find the newest version of the law. As for the original question - it hasn't changed my views. I don't have a problem with people carrying guns as long as they know how to use them. I do think it would be hard to react and draw a gun if you were ambushed on the trail though. I'm not even sure one could quickly access defense spray. I may, however, look into one of those defense sticks. Seems like that would be easy to use if you were already holding it in your hand - even if you got knocked
  18. The Emerson girl supposedly didn't fight the guy because he threatened to kill her dog. Once he had her tied up - she couldn't defend herself.
  19. Yep, this had already crossed my mind as well. UNLESS it was a random act where the guy was on something or had mental issues and just randomly attacked the first person he saw. Since she was found near the road, however, it crossed my mind that she wasn't actully on the trail, but had perhaps jumped or got thrown out of a car.
  20. I have no problem with carrying a weapon, but I'm not sure a gun is the answer on this one because I suspect he came up from behind her. If you walk with earbuds in (like a lot of people do) I don't think you could get the gun out fast enough. You wouldn't even know they were there until you were struck. A good self defense course may be the better option for this type of assault?
  21. Although not always - it appears there were a lot of Dad's who dropped the ball while having child care duties as well. There is so much emphasis on locking away your guns, maybe there needs to be a campaign about locking your vehicle and keeping the keys out of reach too.
  22. Where the heck did you find the sample ballot? I've been all over paulding.gov - don't know where else to look????
  23. How old is she? If her eyesight is getting bad, she is depending on you to ensure it is safe for her to go out and where her food, water is. If she is younger , she has simply taught you well. But yes- they can and do suffer separation anxiety.
