Father who left child in hot car charged with murder
SushiBoofay replied to NinaBritt's topic in RECENT TOPICS
I do a lot of strange searches for articles I write. After one about drug crimes in Wisconsin - I started having a lot of "Need ReHab?" ads follow me around on the Internet. I told a friend of mine to come and clear my search history if anything ever happens to me! -

There can only be five reasons. 1. Money (Insurance policy, didn't want to have to pay child support if he left his wife) 2. Jealousy (son taking attention of wife away from him) 3. Resentment (tired of the boy taking up his time, having to spend money on him, keeping father from doing what he wanted) 4. Revenge (son not his, mad at wife about something he perceived she did and wanted to pay her back) 5. Punishment (son acted up so he left him in car to teach him a lesson) -
Father who left child in hot car charged with murder

I just read the actual warrant and it dawned on me --- if he had actually forgotten to take the child to daycare --- wouldn't he have gone TO the daycare (which apparently was a Home Depot day care facility) to pick the boy up after he got off work and then realized what he did? Instead, he headed "straight home" which really doesn't make sense for his alibi (he forgot to drop him off AND pick him up???) - proving criminals actually are idiots. -

I was wondering how he was acting around other employees after he went to the car at lunch. Was he nervous or agitated? That might go a long way to explaining his state of mind and whether he really knew the boy was in there or not. -
Yes, the hamster is the father. The French girl with the birds flying around her calls him "Pa Pa" (or something similar) in the one where they are sitting at the table. I suspect Gor-Don is actually hallucinating the whole family after licking frogs or eating magic mushrooms....

I'm on my phone so can't include the link, but in just read on CNN's website that one of their analysts basically said the downgrade to second degree on the child cruelty charge is because the wording of the statute doesn't apply to the crime, but the second degree does. Basically, what I got from the article is that the police believe the second degree charge will be a lot easier to get a conviction on than the first degree charge. The analyst also said he believes there will be an additional charge as more evidence fall into place involving the murder. -
I'm surprised no one has mentioned the one with the hamster father, Gor-Don, and the Framily.

I believe that is called "denial" and perhaps his family needs that for now to deal with their grief. (I guess we should also go by that "innocent until proven guilty" part too, but that is seeming less and less likely) -

Hadn't heard anything about that. It wouldn't seem like there would have been a smell after that short of period of time other than the boy probably went to the bathroom at some point since everything relaxes after death. BUT maybe with the heat there was...so sad. -

I believe I read she is in Tuscaloosa preparing for the funeral on Saturday. If I were in her position - I wouldn't be talking to the media either. I've never understood why people WANT to talk to the media. I would get as far away from them as possible. Casey Anthony managed to get off even though someone had searched for chloroform on the Internet. -

I wonder if he did an Internet search like Casey Anthony did? Wonder when the police will tell the public was they think allegedly occurred. -

Yes, it does seem like the wrong charge. You normally wouldn't hold someone with no bail that has accidentally committed a crime like that either. Either the DA has it wrong or they are seeing something that we aren't privy to. -

Here's a Washington Post story that makes an attempt to explain how this is (sadly) not entirely uncommon. http://www.washingtonpost.com/lifestyle/magazine/fatal-distraction-forgetting-a-child-in-thebackseat-of-a-car-is-a-horrifying-mistake-is-it-a-crime/2014/06/16/8ae0fe3a-f580-11e3-a3a5-42be35962a52_story.html -

We've had a bad problem with them too. One night they were everywhere on the front and back porch. Now, there aren't quite as many, but everyday there are some stragglers that find their way into the kitchen and are crawling across the floor. It's about to the point where we ignore them or you would never get anything else done because as soon as one is gone - here comes another one.

This is the quote I always think about when something like that (family member murders someone) happens. It is from Presumed Innocent. Rusty, the main character, had an affair with Carolyn who is found murdered at the beginning of the movie. This is what he says at the end. "I cannot pretend it was an accident. I reached for Carolyn, and set off that insane mix of rage and lunacy that led one human being to kill another. There was a crime. There was a victim. And there is punishment."

I'm not PCSO, but my understanding is that certain roads are considered state roads and certain roads are considered county roads. GSP has jurisdiction for the state roads and that is why they write the accident reports on those roads. I was told this long ago because there were a lot of accidents in front of a business I owned and the deputies would come in after GSP showed up and complain about this one GSP officer who they called "Napoleon" because he would arrive at the scene and start barking orders to everyone while he took control. Oh and did I mention...he was also quite short. -
My camera was inside when I took the dog out after the storms left, but all I could think when I saw the sky was "I wonder if this is kind of how the sky on Tattooine kind of looked (although I remember later - the sky was orange there...). I have never seen so much pink. Hate that I didn't have my camera with me!

I don't think it's more emotional necessarily. After thinking about it - I believe they do it because it's more personal and seems to be more calculated in some cases.

Actually, they found Slenderman on the Internet. The Sheriff/Chief of Police gave a very stern warning to parents that they needed to be checking behind their children to see what they are looking at on the computer. While reading about these two girls I ran across another story where a girl stabbed her BFF to death with a knife. It made me wonder --- why do girls seem to turn to stabbing people whereas boys tend to use guns? Has anyone seen any research about this?
-
It almost seems like a plot for a movie. Can you imagine the conversations these two girls had while planning this?

Has anyone seen my smelling salts? I think I feel an attack of the vapors coming on. 40%. WTH?!

The process really is interesting and I think everyone should do it at least once to see our court system in action, but it is quite a disruption when you need to be working - esp. when you are self-employed.
