  1. I've been asked to post this. Hope Church is having a craft show on Saturday, November 13 from 9:00 until 5:00. Please come by and support fellow p.commers.
  2. And posted this at 6:17 P.M. How'd you do that - time machine?
  3. I can't help but wonder how long it will be before he's beating her because she does things she doesn't like.
  4. Just got back from Hope. The wait was about 50 minutes.
  5. I found more than one article quoting the $200 million, and nothing to dispute it.
  6. Unbelievable. US to spend $200 mn a day on Obama's Mumbai visit
  7. Tried to get in Hope Methodist a few minutes ago . . . Loooonnnnnggggg line - decided to go back in an hour or two and bring something to listen to on an mp3 player.
  8. Like many towns across the country, the city of Dallas has decided the official t-n-t will be today, Oct. 30th within the town. Hiram has not made any decision, so there is no official time or day. You can assume the ghosts and goblins will be coming on the 31st.
  9. Never said that. If some believe the 31st the only day trick or treating should be done, why can't I believe that it's the only valid day to carve pumpkins?
  10. Why would anyone carve a pumpkin any day but Oct 31st? Halloween Day day it should be done. Any other day is just plain crazy. Would you cook your turkey before Thanksgiving Day? Would you prepare your ham before Easter Day?
  11. West Ridge Church has Trunk Fest tonite from 7:00 to 9:00
  12. If TnT must be only on Halloween, why can't the kids start at 8:00am and do it all day? As long as it's the 31st and no other day it should be OK!
  13. Why aren't y'all complaining that Memorial Day and Labor Day aren't celebrated on the day they're supposed to? What would you do if congress decided Halloween were to be a Monday holiday?
  14. Sure. Just don't try to sell it to city folk. I remember reading somewhere about a small farm that produced country ham. One year, their name got out as having some of the best country hams, and they had a lot of folks come to buy them. They even asked the customers "You know it's not like the ham you get in the stores and you have to prepare it differently?" The customers said 'yes' and still bought them. Of course, they prepared it just like mom taught them to prepare a store bought ham. After the holiday, many of those customers came back demanding their money back, complaining that
  15. Those of us that don't care for OG's food aren't the ones who wished for them to come. We just didn't bother letting our feelings known before now. I hope they do well. Maybe they'll siphon off some of the customers from the restaurants I do like, reducing the crowds.
  16. Was it plugged in inside the house or outside? Was it a 'branded' charger (i.e. have a cell phone brand on it), or could it possibly be an adapter for something electronic he forgot about?
  17. The Atlanta unemployment numbers are out and they're down from last month. Experts say it's because of people who got discouraged and "dropped out of the job market." How do they calculate unemployment numbers? Is it just people who report in to the State Employment office? Once someone's benefits have run out, how does the DOL keep up with folks who are still looking?
  18. Someone tell me their bread sticks aren't just the same brown and serve bread sticks you can get at Kroger's. It's been years since I've been to Olive Garden, but I remember their food being very bland and unseasoned.
  19. Are you starting a DVD of the film, or using this guy's version from youtube?
  20. Here it becomes an issue. Growing up, if it fell on a Friday, the town council said trick or treat was Saturday afternoon, and nobody freaked out about it.
  21. ˙ǝuo pɹɐɥ ǝɥʇ ʇɐɥʇ ʞ s,ʇı ˙ʎsɐǝ sı ǝ Just like any other holiday, parties and celebrations are being held in the days before the actual holiday. Cities and towns all over the country determine when trick or treat is. The problem here is they haven't done it like that before, so many folks think it's the end of the world.

  23. Excuse me - there are may areas where it's called beggars night, and that's exactly what it is. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Beggars_Night Please tell us where you got the idea that Halloween it is about rewarding kids for wearing their costumes.
  24. If they had an Independence day party on the 3rd of July, you'd refuse to go? Ever opened Christmas presents on the 24th or the 26th?
  25. I find it amazing how many equate Halloween's beggar's night with a real holiday like Independence Day, Thanksgiving or Christmas. If you celebrate Halloween as a religions event, we're not talking about that. What this is about is the day kids go out and demand their neighbors give them 'treats' under the threat of 'tricks'. Reading what some have written here, I wonder why they aren't part of a nation wide movement go get Halloween turned into a national holiday. Of course if they did, would allow their employers to give them Friday or Monday off if Halloween fell on a Saturday or Sunda
