  1. Well, if we're doing damage to the water life, we might as well just stop getting oil from the ground and just get it straight from the whales, like the good ol' days.
  2. #1. From the same article you reference, researchers also believe it may be infectious disease. But, I wouldn't expect you to tell the whole story. #2. A direct quote from your "article": "We're concerned but we really can't speculate. There's a lot of factors that could play a role in an animal's death." #3. This quote is particularly telling: "Veterinary pathologist Greg Bossart, a dolphin expert at the Georgia Aquarium, says researchers are still trying to determine all the ways BP oil affected the Gulf's ecosystem." Rather than find particular issues and check to see if it was
  3. It's this stuff... I've used it... works perfectly.
  4. When the temperature rise of other planetary neighbors (such as Mars) diverges from ours, then I'm interested. Until then... yawn.

  6. I have the original Droid, but I have used the Droid Incredible and Droid X as well (and the original Droid, which has a physical slide-out keyboard) has been replaced with the Droid 2, which looks similar to the original and keeps the physical keyboard). But, I have learned to just use the soft (on-screen) keyboard.
  7. I have a Verizon Droid. My wife has a Verizon iPhone. Both are excellent devices, the Droid being more flexible in customization, and the iPhone being a little more "approachable" by the non-technical-minded. As for waiting, there's really no need to. I used to live in that mindset. I have finally figured out after decades of buying technology that not being the latest-and-greatest isn't all that important. What's more important is that I'm happy with what I have. I bought my Droid a good 7 months after its debut. There were newer, better Droids out within months of my purchase. Di
  8. I was an IE user since version 1 waaaaaaay back in Windows 95 (when IE was a separate product only available in the original Windows Plus! Pack). As a computer geek3, I enjoyed IE. But, in the last couple of years, simplicity has eclipsed bells and whistles in my life. Stress reduction and such. And Google Chrome has fit right in. It's simple, it's quick, and it gets the job done. As for security, being a developer myself, I've done quite a bit of reading on how Chrome was written and how it operates. It's very sound in its design, running the content of every tab as well as every pl
  9. The cost of the textbook content is probably a great deal of the cost... not the physical medium itself. I've not seen anything that would suggest the cost of the text would be considerably cheaper in electronic form.
  10. "Promoting the general welfare" is part of the preamble of the Constitution. It's a preamble. It's an introduction to a document. It's not a mandate, a direction, a promise, a contract, nor a right. It's just a preamble. It sets the tone and explains WHY the rest of the document exists. And nowhere in the rest of the document does it say that it is the job of any individual, organization, state, or union of states to provide, pay for, or make available any sort of medical care. Nor does it say that it is a requirement to be a citizen of the United States to purchase anything, be it m

  12. Very true, all of that. But, a good beta blocker is more of a backstop; when all else fails, this will attenuate the effects to get the patient over the worst effects of it. But, true... preventing it in the first place is ideal. Unfortunately for me and many others, the effects of the medicines that prevent them are just too unpleasant. They sucked, in fact. lol. So, I live with the attacks and rely on the beta blocker to tone them down when they do occur.
  13. A cardio-selective beta blocker such as metoprolol (the extended-release version, aka Toprol) can greatly reduce the symptoms when they occur. It doesn't prevent them, but it makes them much less severe. It works by blocking the receptors that are excited by the adrenaline that is released just prior and during the attack. The best thing about metoprolol is that it is not a psychoactive drug. That means no mood changes, no drowsiness. However, your nervous system does get used to it so when you miss a dose, within hours you're jittery like you feel before an attack happens.
  14. Evil corporations. Doing better than the rest of the economy. How dare they. TAX! TAX! TAX!
  15. DirecTV. Have never had a problem with them. Ever. Been a happy customer of theirs for a decade, now. Only in the absolute worst of storms will the signal ever go out. The rain threat with satellite is way over-hyped. If you get rain-fade more than maybe once or twice in a year, your dish isn't properly aimed or secured. And when it happens, it's maybe 15 minutes. Tops. If you added up the number of hours (or days) cable is out in a year, you'll see that satellite is way, way more reliable.
  16. When I was on AT&T, their network was absolutely horrible (this was little less than a year ago). Dropped calls, stalled and slow Internet... horrible. And I have technical-oriented colleagues that have the same issues. Not in one place, either. Everywhere. I'd be in places with a pegged signal meter, only to have it drop to zero and lose connection; all without moving an inch. Over, and over, and over. It was so bad, in fact, that I happily paid the early termination fee to get away from that horrible service. I went to Verizon... couldn't be happier. While AT&T's netwo
  17. Yeah, man, snow cream was an annual event growing up in Tennessee. I stocked up on all the supplies. Enjoy!
  18. Probably evaporating before it hits the ground. Air is dry right now. It's going to take a few hours for the air to saturate before it will come all the way down.
  19. The oil will get on and in the LNB (aka "feed horn") and gum it up. I, personally, would't recommend this.
  20. I just looked on WSBTV and WSBRadio, and didn't see any mention of three inches of ice. Where's the mention?
