Yet another benefit of GMail and a Chromebook. That junk never even makes it to my Inbox. And if it did (which it won't), Chromebooks are immune from junk like that.

Limos and Film Crew Trucks at Movie Studio

Um... I don't think they film those kind there. -
Way too early to get excited about the GFS model. Give it until 5 days out, then pay attention to it. The NWS Peachtree City Forecast Discussion says this: "BOTH GFS AND ECMWF SHOW A COUPLE OF FAST MOVING DISTURBANCES BRINGING A SLIGHT CHANCE OF LIGHT RAIN OR SNOW TO THE FAR NORTHERN COUNTIES EARLY SATURDAY MORNING AND AGAIN EARLY SUNDAY MORNING. AT THIS TIME... STILL MUCH UNCERTAINTY ON AVAILABLE MOISTURE... SO LITTLE TO NO ACCUMULATIONS ARE EXPECTED."

Love that song. Bread is one of my favorite bands.

I hear ya, man. And as skillful as you seem to be, I have no idea what your experience is when I see you on the road waving me through. Unfortunately, around here, people just invent new rules of travel as they go along. While you might have the best of intentions, you're still surrounded by likely morons. I'll just wait until it's all clear.

Why you should never drink another soda.

The reference is to brominated vegetable oil, an emulsifier used in drinks with citrus juice to help keep it from separating out. It's NOT in all drinks, which that graphic in the original post alludes to. And, it's been there for decades... it's listed right in the ingredient label. This wasn't some sort of mystery that took a biologist to uncover. Anyone partially versed in English can read the ingredients and make that sensational discovery! (Wait... am I now a biologist?!? Wow, P.com is being populated with all sorts of experts, now!) Bottom-line... sensationalism over a bunch -
If the traffic wasn't heavy (therefore making your courtesy safer), why hold up the right-of-way (your lane) and create a one-off "special exception" to help the person out in the first place? Honestly, there would likely be a measurable decrease in accidents if everyone just followed the rules... all the time. That person in the turn lane coming out would eventually make it out... probably within a couple of minutes, anyway. I almost never take up someone on the offer in the situation you were in, where you have a turn lane and there is a second lane for traffic continuing through th

Wasn't an attack... was just logic. Failure to understand logic does not an attack make.

While listening to real meteorologists disseminate information, I tuned into the live stream to see how it was coming along. It was so embarrassing, I couldn't stand to watch, quite honestly.
-
The screenshots and forecasts leading up to that last severe weather event that I saw here were taken directly from National Weather Service websites. I pointed that out at least once in replies in those threads. Whatever program might be in use to show radar data, the fact of the matter still remains that the same radar data is being interpreted by degreed and certified real meteorologists. If you want to follow an armchair meteorologist for your weather, go for it. Doesn't seem too wise to me.
-
I don't see anyone trying to knock others down to feel big. I see people trying to point out the logical choice of relying upon actual meteorologists when you're in danger. You do understand that the severe storm information you're getting here is just being copied/read from other sources, right? When a severe storm is bearing down on you, why would you turn to someone reading reports off the Internet and relaying them to you when you could just go straight to the source? It's just logic.
-
Really?

And those that are foolish to be paying attention to someone without the credentials nor resources to get you important information in a timely manner when you might be in serious danger.
-
Yeah, I think I will stick with degreed meteorologists certified by the American Meteorological Society when my life and property are at risk.

Perhaps it's when Winnie the Pooh sings "I'm just a little black rain cloud... pay no attention to me." But, probably just a technical term. -
SEVERE WEATHER THREAT REMAINS ACROSS GEORGIA FOR WED

Umm... not to rain on the parade or anything, but the Storm Prediction Center hasn't "upgraded to moderate risk". We're still only "slight risk". -
I know from experience Nationwide will not cover a slow leak. It has to be a sudden rupture.

Just to reiterate, you will *not* be able to listen to the MotoTRBO system that Paulding County is moving to with *any* digital scanner. The encoding that Motorola uses for MotoTRBO is proprietary and they do not license it out to any other radio company. Unless Paulding County simulcasts their traffic on an analog channel, we're all going to be in the dark very soon. It is possible, albeit with flaky success, to decode the audio with some software that hobbyists have written that can (sort of) decode the audio, but you have to modify your scanner and solder in a tap to a circuit with

They went with a MotoTRBO system which is digital but is not decoded by any commercially-available scanner. Scanner listeners are out of luck with the new system. And just so you know, MotoTRBO is a proprietary system by Motorola that was never intended for use for public safety; it is a business radio system. (Idiot move number one of our county commission). The "standard" for digital public safety radio systems is the P25 system, which is not only open (non-proprietary) but is also what is used by EVERY county that surrounds us that has gone digital. (Idiot move number two of our cou

Oddly enough, I watched a documentary on (I think) PBS about 10 years ago that was talking about the successes of Wal Mart, and how they lower prices for their consumers. PBS was allowed into Wal Mart's offices to see how the negotiations between manufacturers and Wal Mart were handled. It was a very neat show, really. They had a segment with a toaster manufacturer (I don't remember the name... Oster, maybe) at their offices. They had two sales reps, two product engineers, and a manager of some sort. Wal Mart had two reps. They all meet in a room in an office building that had literal
