  1. Cosmetology school is about 9 or 10 months if you go 5 days a week, full time. You have to complete 1500 hours of instruction and then take your state board exam. Much faster than 4 years!
  2. That was mean. I went to school with a few males and females who actually flunked out of cosmetology school because they couldn't handle the school work part of it. That part is harder than you might think. I guess they thought they would go in and play beauty shop all day and then get a license. You learn about electricity, bones, muscles, and business in addition to cutting, perming, coloring and doing facials. While it isn't rocket science, it's more involved than most people think. I actually had to study when I went!
  3. I am not familiar with any schools in Georgia. But, as a licensed cosmetologist, I highly recommend that you go to a school for your education. That way, you learn the correct way to do it, not the way the person you are apprenticing with does it, which might not be the best. People get sloppy as they go along sometimes and you want to learn the right way first. I would think most schools offer financing, but I don't know that as a fact. I loved "beauty school". I hope you love it, too! Good Luck!!!
  4. I have shopped for groceries at the Hiram Wal-mart for about 12 years now. I know everyone says how dirty the store is but I don't see it as being any worse than any other store in that area or any worse than the old Kroger that just closed down. I have never gotten bad/rotten food like meat or fruit like others have said. I don't plan on eating off the floor so what's the big deal. It's an older store and you can't really compare it to the one on 120 because that one is much newer so of course it's nicer. As far as the "people of Wal-Mart" who shop there - have you ever taken a good look
  5. That is so cool! My husband loves Aerosmith so much that our son is named Steven Tyler...
  6. That was awesome!!! What is his name?
  7. Chauffer is the key word! Let him drive everywhere you go. Congratulations to him!! I must say, you are one brave Dad to let him drive home. We started in the cemetary and then moved to empty church parking lots until he got a "feel" for it!
  8. Great! Watch out for snakes..... Oh. Good thing I'm not trying to be a nurse or physical therapist. I don't think I'm smart enough.
  9. Why would anyone need to know stuff like that to do physical therapy?
  10. Those are my favorite but I never buy them because I can't stop at just one! I will try this recipe. Thanks for posting it!
  11. In addition to the $65 seasonal pass fee, there is now a $3 per day parking fee at Sun Valley. You can buy a season parking pass for $35. So, all together if you go a lot and need a parking pass, it's $100.00 for Sun Valley (one person and one parking pass).
  12. Subby has maintained our mowers, blowers, etc. since last year. My husband wn't go anywhere else. Great work and prices! Thank you, Glen!
  13. I'm surprised so many people have had problems with State Farm. We have had them for 23 years and never one problem, even when we have had situations where most insurance companies would have cancelled us. We had a vehicle towed to an impound lot once and when I called they said it would be one price to get it out and when we got there that same day, it was much, much higher. I wish I could remember the name of the place (it was in Cobb County). I would plaster their name all over this board. Jerks.
  14. I tried to open the link you provided by the system here at work blocked it because it fell under the heading of "tasteless and offensive"!
  15. Yes, we turned ours on Sunday afternoon. We die of the heat in our upstairs bedrooms if we don't turn it on.
  16. That is so funny you mentioned St. Jude! I was thinking this morning about calling on him this summer on my son's behalf!! HA! Yep - he is for lost causes! I will keep him in mind. I didn't know about St. Joseph of Cupertino - he will be my next "go-to" saint! Thanks for the info.!!!
  17. I don't agree with recovery grades. I know my son did recovery in middle school but he refuses to do it in high school. Mostly because he says that he usually does even worse the second time around (that's what has him worried aboutre-taking the graduation tests). I can't imagine how good my grades would have been in high school if I had been allowed do-overs for tests! I would have thoght I had died and gone to heaven!
  18. That's for sure!!!!!! Thank you very much! I have prayed and called on every Saint I know for divine intevention!
  19. Yeah, that's the thing - You don't know if they pass or not before the graduation stuff has to be bought. I wish there was some way to get the results faster - before you have to buy everything. Can you buy at the last minute or do you have to buy the graduation "supplies" in February and they take the retest in March?
  20. No. If he does not pass the tests by next year, he will not walk with his class. That's the rule. Who are we to say "exempt my kid, poor thing"?
  21. Thank you for the encouraging words! He knows that the power is in his hands. We will back him up all the way but it's all up to him in the long run. I think he can do it. Like everything else he has done in his life so far, he will accomplish what everyone else accomplishes, it will just take him a little bit longer. Thanks again!
  22. Your daughter is in great line of work! Congratulations!!!
